Re: Out Now: Marvel's Guardians Of The Galaxy: Cloud Version Is Out, But Try The Demo First

@larryisanassman I agree that there are other issues. To be honest, I misunderstood your comment-I thought you were suggesting it should only be $10 (wrong currency, I know) because it’s only something you’d play for a week or a month. Now I see that you were talking about an actual short-term rental system, which I am in no way opposed to.

Having said that, I do think there’s a place for these cloud versions. If games are truly un-portable to Switch (i.e. not Kingdom Hearts), I think it’s a great option for Switch-only owners. Next gen systems can only be played at home/on a TV anyway, so no big loss there losing portability on Switch. And honestly, I’d rather buy like ten cloud games on a console I already own than spend that money on a console without even getting a game with it. Still, sure, better pricing would be welcome.

@larryisanassman I don’t really understand your point. It doesn’t go away in a few weeks after you beat it, you still have access until the server does down, which should be years from now (and you’ll have six months notice before it shuts down). The non-cloud version is no more replayable than the cloud version for the foreseeable future. I mean, I get that if you want to play it like 20 years from now that may be a problem, but is that really enough to make it worth 1/5 the price?

Started Dread last night. Really solid so far!

I decided to take a break from Great Ace Attorney 2 after beating case 3 the other night. I didn’t want to have to stop mid-case when Metroid came out. So I finally got around to poking around in New Pokémon Snap while I waited. Pretty fun! I think it’ll be my “wind down” game at the end of intense gaming sessions or something to pick up when I only have ten minutes for a while. I could see switching over to that after getting through some EMMI sections or bosses in Dread, this game kinda stresses me out (in a good way), ha.

Re: Poll: So, Will You Be Getting The "Cloud Versions" Of Kingdom Hearts On Switch?

Krambo42

I actually think cloud gaming is kinda cool. At least, it could be if used correctly. For example, as PS5 and Series X/S get more and more games made for that hardware, it’d be cool to see Switch get them through the cloud. I’d much rather buy like 10 cloud games than have to spend that money on a console just to be able to buy those games. Even better, what if they could have actual ports of games that are a bit watered down (think Doom, for example) but give us the option to pay a premium (maybe an extra $10) to have access to a cloud version when we are at home and connected to the internet. Great graphics and performance (if you have good internet) at home, and a slightly worse version on the go. I don’t know, I see potential, and I’d support it under the right circumstances.

But I don’t think I can support cloud games that are the result of laziness/a total lack of effort. I see no reason why KH 1 and 2 couldn’t have been ported. This is the scary side of cloud gaming.

Still working on Great Ace Attorney Chronicles. Pretty sure I’m almost done with case 2 in the second game…

Picked up New Pokémon Snap the other day. I’d love to check it out, but I don’t want to take my focus away from GAA.

Man, that Cruisin Blast game looks great. I really want to get it/check it out. But now is not the time…

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (September 4th)

Not sure! I wrapped up the first Great Ace Attorney game last night (absolutely loved it), and I want to take a little break before starting the second one. My plan was to play Axiom Verge 2 between the two, but I started it last night, and ehhh…I don’t know. I kinda don’t want to continue. I’ll probably just do stuff like Picross and Mario Golf for a bit. Oh! Maybe I’ll go back to Skyward Sword.

Re: LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga Is Now Set For Spring 2022

Krambo42

@Warioware I’ve heard the rumors, and I don’t buy them at all. They’re not going to upset fans of the new stuff (as loud as the haters are, I’m certain that more people enjoy it), confuse more casual fans, upset the filmmakers/scare potential future filmmakers out of working for them in the future by making it clear that anything that people get angry about will be made “unofficial”, destroy the entire canon (which consists of way more than just a few movies), start over without Carrie Fisher, acknowledge that they screwed up (which I’d argue they didn’t anyway)…it just doesn’t make sense. Much more likely that they’ll just try to improve the ST by fleshing out the stories/characters Clone Wars-style. Which, between Mandalorian and Bad Batch, it seems like they’re doing, by the way. Anyway, there really just isn’t any reason to do it. At worst, the movies are unnecessary additions to the saga that have their ups and downs (personally, I loved them, but it’s cool if others aren’t as enthusiastic about them as I am). I get why people who LOVED the old EU were let down by them, but outside of that, anybody who says they’re so offensive that they need to be wiped from existence is kidding themselves. They’re fine, just move on and hope you like the next thing better.

That last part’s not really directed at you specifically, by the way.

Re: Doki Doki Literature Club Plus Sells 500,000 Copies In Just Two Weeks

Krambo42

@dBackLash I absolutely loved this game, and it really stuck with me after I beat it, but I agree. I didn’t really think it was too disturbing or horrifying or anything. Just a neat, unpredictable game.

Probably would have felt differently if I knew absolutely nothing going in (not even the warning), but even then, I don’t think it would have been THAT disturbing.

Re: Physical And Collector's Editions Of Among Us Are Here

Krambo42

@Snatcher Yeah. I’ve thought about stuff like this before. It’s easy to say “eh, I already own it, that stinks, I would have gotten this instead”, but if you really think about it, it’s just $5 you spent months ago. Don’t let it stop you from getting what you want!

Re: Physical And Collector's Editions Of Among Us Are Here

Krambo42

I know people like to collect or whatever, and that’s fine…but outside of that, I’m really struggling to understand what the point of an expensive physical copy of Among Us is. It’s a ridiculously cheap game that’ll be unplayable once the servers go down and it takes up like no memory.

Re: Talking Point: E3 Leaks Are Inevitable, But Do You Actually Want To Know?

Krambo42

I’m totally fine with leaks. The announcements aren’t exciting, actually playing the games is. I don’t really care how the news that games are coming gets to me.

Having said that, usually there’s no way of knowing which leaks are real and which ones are bogus. The fake news gets in the way and just makes me skeptical of anything I read.

Re: One Of The World Premieres For The Summer Game Fest Is A New Weezer Song

Krambo42

@OldManHermit I stuck around a lot longer than you...considered myself a huge fan up until the White album. They had a few very boring albums in a row starting with that one. But you know what? Their latest one, Van Weezer, kinda rocks! My favorite from them in a long time. Might want to check it out! It’s totally made me interested in Weezer again. Bring on this premiere!

Re: You Can't Purchase Ultra Street Fighter II From The US eShop Right Now

Krambo42

@Darkknight5 People who already owned the game still have it and can still play it, though. I mean, look, I understand that there are issues with digital games, but this isn’t really proof that people who bought the game should have gone physical or anything like that. Bogus for people who wanted to buy it digitally and can’t now, though (though I suspect it’ll come back at some point).

Re: Yes, Link's Improved "Fast Travel" In Skyward Sword HD Really Does Seem To Be Locked Behind An amiibo

Krambo42

Don’t people get mad when amiibos don’t do anything useful? To me, this is the perfect thing for an amiibo to do. Something kinda cool and helpful without being even remotely necessary.

I mean, look, I get it...$60 for a Wii game and an additional $25 to get something they could have included for free. But also, eh. Is it that big a deal to play without it?
