Re: LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga Expected To Launch This October

Krambo42

I wish there was a way to turn off negative comments about Star Wars when poking around on the internet. Impossible to read about my favorite series/universe these days.

I think Last Jedi is the best SW film since Empire, I think the new trilogy is better than the prequels, and I think just about every other film in the series is better than Jedi. But I also love them all.

Anyway, no matter how you feel about any of the films, can’t we all just be happy that this game looks like it’ll be a fun celebration of the entire series? Predictable “only three movies count” posts add nothing. All you’re doing is annoying people who like the series.

@Zeldafan79 I had Jedi Outcast on GameCube and always hated it, but of course I bought it for Switch anyway. I still struggled with it at first, but after a while I decided to “cheat” and I started a new game, playing with invincibility on. What a difference that made! I don’t really feel bad about it-it finally made a game that I always wanted to play playable. Beat it last week and man, I had a blast. Anyway, not sure what they were thinking with some of those frustrations you mentioned. There’s such a good game in there.

Also, I’m glad to see there are people discovering Star Wars Pinball thanks to this sale. I’ve had it since the day it came out, and man, it’s awesome. One of my favorite and most-played Switch games!

@BoilerBroJoe I'm definitely not trolling-I am a huge Last Jedi fan. I don't love EVERYTHING about it, but man, I really, really like most of it.

I have issues with Rise of Skywalker for sure, and it's definitely my least favorite of the sequel trilogy, but I had too much fun with it to call it "garbage". I certainly understand where you're coming from, though.

Re: May The 4th Be With You In This Nintendo Switch Star Wars Sale

@BlueKnight07 I'm sure more is coming. Between these 3 games, Racer in a week and LEGO Skywalker Saga at some point, Switch is slowly but surely getting a decent collection of Star Wars games. I'd be shocked if they stop there.

Can't say as though I care about Fallen Order myself, I didn't like that game at all. I'd love some more old games, though. Shadows of the Empire on Switch would make me so happy.

Re: Feature: Super Rare Games On 2 Years Of Switch Releases And The Future Of Physical Media

@Dirty0814 I’m not saying it’s hard to go to a store, but I really don’t see what could be easier than hitting a “download” button. Again, though, not even the point I was trying to make. I have a ton of games that I may want to hop in and out of for various reasons. I don’t want to carry all of them around with me. And it’s certainly easier to not have to pop cartridges in, too...especially for multiplayer/pick up and play games that I may be playing at the same time as a big game, that I may only want to play for 5 minutes, etc. Not significantly easier, but again, if I don’t care/am not concerned about the cons people have with digital, what is the benefit in making things slightly more difficult for myself? What am I missing out on when I buy digital games? I am not afraid of losing them years from now, I don’t care about selling/lending games, I have enough memory for them...

I do own some physical games, but they are all big single player games from major developers. Games that I can leave in the slot for a while and just play until I beat them and put them back on my shelf (and meanwhile, I can still access all my digital games without switching cartridges should I want to play something quick or a multiplayer game or something). Games that I didn’t have to pay twice as much for to get physically. Games I didn’t have to wait months or years for a physical release for. Games that often do take up a significant amount of memory. So clearly I do see a benefit in physical, I just don’t think every single game needs to be physical. I’m ok saying “ok cool, this hour long game was $5 on the eshop”. I’m ok saying “why am I going to wait a year to see if I can pay $40 for this game when I can just download it now for $15?”. I’m ok saying “man, you know, I don’t want to switch cartridges every time I want to play a quick round of Puyo Puyo Tetris or do a run in Binding of Isaac”. Like, I get the whole physical thing. I really do. What I don’t get is pro-physical people being SO anti-digital.

Like I said in another comment, I actually think it’s cool that we live in a word where games can be released without physical releases. There are probably a ton of indie games that simply wouldn’t exist if they had to come up with a way to release them physically. As much as people don’t want to see physical media go away, I wouldn’t want to see games like that go away either.

I totally understand why people are into physical games, and I think it's great that companies like this exist...but personally, I don't really care. Frankly, I'm not too concerned about the possibility of losing my library someday. First of all, I don't feel the need to own every game I ever play until the end of time. Second of all, IF my Switch breaks, AND I feel the need to replace it, AND I no longer have the ability to download my games, AND I am dying to play one of my old digital games again, AND that game isn't available on a more modern console, I'll track down a physical copy if one exists, and if it doesn't, I never had a choice anyway, and I'll assume that the only reason the game existed in the first place is that we are living in a world where smaller games can be made and released without needing a physical release.

Sure, there are other reasons to own physical games (the ability to sell them, the ability to share them, saving memory, just enjoying having something tangible, etc.), but none of that outweighs convenience for me. I know people often say that's "lazy", but if I'm not concerned about the cons of digital games, why not go with the more convenient option?

Having said all of that, I'm really glad companies like this exist for people who do care. Not a big fan of the "limited run" model, but if that's what it takes, cool for everybody who gets one.

Re: Feature: Best Nintendo Switch Games For Kids

I’m 36 years old, I’ve been gaming for about 30, I’d say I’m pretty darn good at games...and man, I am horrible at Starlink. I die constantly. On easy. I can’t imagine having a kid play.

Of course, maybe I’m just playing it wrong.

Re: SteamWorld Dev Image & Form To Release Anthill On Nintendo Switch This Month

Krambo42

@TuxDC Eh, I don't know. I haven't played the game, so I could be wrong, but it seems to me that this is a game meant to be played with a touch screen. People are always talking about how "the point" of the Switch is that you can play games on your TV or on the go, but I think that what is just as important as that is the flexibility to play games that can't be played on other consoles. Games like Severed, Voez (I know they added controller controls, but those are dumb) and now Anthill. Couldn't be done on PS4 or XB1, and I think it's cool we can play them on Switch.

Of course, if the game COULD be played with a controller and they just decided not to bother, that's different. But I have a feeling it just wouldn't be possible, or at least, not as fun with this game.
