Re: The First Review For Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance Is In

@Pillowpants I honestly couldn't care less about the size. From what I've heard, SMT V was long enough already, so I'd rather they focused on making the game more enjoyable to play instead of bloating it further. I did play the original for like 10 hours before getting bored. Of course it's impossible to say yet how much better Vengeance is.

Re: Talking Point: 'Remake' Vs. 'Remaster' - What's Your Definition?

I think The Wind Waker HD, Ocarina of Time 3D, Link's Awakening, Metroid Prime Remastered and Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door are all remasters. Yes, Metroid, Paper Mario and Link's Awakening got massive facelifts, but the core games under the surface are the same. It doesn't matter if the game engine is different and if there are some quality of life changes. If it's fundamentally the same experience, it's a remaster to me.

@Euler Better to keep the momentum going by releasing a new system rather than to let the sales die completely, in my opinion.

Sure, Switch sales are still strong, but that will not necessarily last for long. Especially since there are now other portable systems that outperform Switch, such as Steam Deck, multiple Windows handhelds, or even iPhone. Okay, fair enough, they're more expensive and I wouldn't personally want to play games on an iPhone, but Switch is losing its biggest strength and gimmick that differentiates it from its competition. It's no longer the only handheld device that can play console quality games.

I think Switch has reached the point in its life cycle where I don't feel excitement over the possibilities that the system can offer. I only see compromises. Very rarely we get a game like Metroid Prime Remastered which impresses both in terms of gameplay and technology. Even the "impossible ports" like Hogwarts Legacy or Doom Eternal are so much worse than on the other platforms that I don't even consider getting them on Switch. So for me, Switch is only for indies and Nintendo's own first party games.

@Euler Price drop isn't really necessary when the system is selling well. Besides, Switch Lite is much cheaper than the regular Switch or Switch OLED.

It would be extremely disappointing if we had to wait until 2027 for the next Nintendo. I feel like the system has been showing its age for a good while now. Sure, Nintendo's own games look good (although even Tears of the Kingdom with its lovely art style suffered greatly from bad image quality). Third party support on the other hand is not only limited, but what we get is often sub-par.

Re: Random: Handheld Specialist Creates Prototype 'Switch Lite OLED' Mod

@ZombAid82 Fair enough. I think the biggest strength of the Switch is the flexibility. You can play it as a handheld, you can play it on TV, you can play it on table. Switch Lite is a massive compromise in that sense. While it's definitely intended as a handheld system only, it doesn't change the fact that some people would appreciate the dockability and a kickstand if they were a thing on Lite.

Re: Fan-Made 'Link's Awakening DX HD' Port Taken Down By Nintendo

@Bwight33 What's the point of a release like this if no one knows about it? Sure, the coverage alerts Nintendo, but it also brings other, more positive attention to the project.

Anyway, I feel like this project should've used a similar release model as the PC version of Super Mario 64, so that it would've required the original game and would've taken all of the sprite data, music etc directly from the ROM.
