Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (October 28th)

I've really gotten into Atelier Ayesha DX in the last two weeks; it's such a charming game that always manages to make me smile. I'll definitely check out more games from the series in time. Aside from it, I'm still playing Rune Factory 5 (it's not the best admittedly, but it scratches the farming/fighting itch) and hoping to try out some demos on the Xbox (Tales of Arise and Scarlet Nexus).

80% of me is thinking 'YES! I can't wait to grab it for Switch, I had a great time with it on XBox Series S but would like a physical and portable copy'. The other 20% is still worried about the usual performance-related stuff. As long as the game isn't totally breaking I'm happy 😌 it wasn't a perfect game but it was amazing to see a fully realised Hogwarts and Hogsmeade in game form.

More Octopath Traveller and Rune Factory 5 for me! 10 hours into both, and they're growing on me a lot more. Also, after weeks of agonising over which to buy in the sale (and watching Ircha Gaming videos) I bought Atelier Ayesha last night. It's my first atelier game, and not usually what people tend to recommend as a starting point, but I just love the overall feel of the game, especially that soundtrack and the character designs.

Rune Factory 5 and Octopath Traveller again for me. I'm sort of getting into Octopath, although the length between a single character's chapter is a bit much. Very fun to grind in it though. I also downloaded the Star Ocean: The Divine Force demo on the XBox and am loving it so far. Pity I didn't realise the sale for it ended the day I downloaded the demo!

Re: GameCube Classic Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door Is Heading To Switch

Two seconds into the trailer, with that magical opening theme, me and my brother looked at eachother and both yelled. For him especially, this was one of a few defining GameCube games he played as a child. I never got round to playing through it fully myself, but I used to sit in his small room and watch him play. It's simply beautiful to see it return, so many years later...

On a less sentimental note, those who missed out will hopefully be able to afford it now! £100-odd on the Internet and in second-hand game stores is absolutely insane.

Re: Best Nintendo Switch Life Sims And Farming Games

I absolutely adore Harvestella. Didn't put it down until it was 100% done, more or less. Saying that, I'd class it as an RPG with farming in it rather than a farming game with RPG mechanics. I am very tempted to get Rune Factory 5 as I've seen YouTubers saying that after a little while they grow to love it and be addicted to it (sounds a bit like my experience with Harvestella). 4 is rated better but I'm being a fusspot and want the newer 3d one 😜

Re: Best Pikmin Games

I've yet to play the first two Pikmin games, though I want to once they're physically released on Switch. But so far I prefer Pikmin 3 to Pikmin 4. My brother prefers Pikmin 2 I believe.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Pikmin 4?

Kirbysonic

So far, I'd give it an 8 or a 9. It's beautiful, the Pikmin are adorable and very characterful, and the gameplay is addictive as ever for me. But the little things annoy me perhaps more than I thought they would. The likes of Collin and Captain Shepherd desperately need to can it- their constant, patronising dialogue grates on me, especially as it's to tell me what I already know. The auto aim ought to have been optional- without needing to bother aiming, it doesn't feel very satisfying or interactive to use the curser now. Also it gets in the way sometimes, like when there's a lot of objects/enemies in one space. Finally, only three Pikmin types at a time is a shame. Imagine the mayhem of having em all out 👿 they could up it to four or five at least if that's a bit much.

That's a lot of gripes for an 8 or 9 but I can't deny that I'm having a blast with the game regardless. It's just I'm leaning towards preferring Pikmin 3. On the bright side though, it's never been easier to do a no-death run (so far!)- just get Oachi with a bunch of items to do most of the damage 😜

I must admit, I've been struggling to find a game that holds my attention for long. It's the anticipation of Pikmin 4 I think! But there's still the Harvestella grind (100-percenting the game is no joke) and I'm resisting the urge to spend more money and pick up Chocobo's Mystery Dungeon, which is currently on sale...

Re: Hogwarts Legacy On Switch Has Been Delayed To November 2023

Kirbysonic

Good thing I caved and bought it on XBox I guess. It's to be expected; honestly can't imagine it running so well on the Switch, which is a pity. Saying that, I haven't played it for ages cos of other games. But having recently become a Potter fan (20 years too late 😜) it's fun to go back from time to time and see the references.
