Re: The Game Awards 2024: Date, Time - How And When To Watch

Kirbysonic

I've long since accepted that the Game Awards is basically not going to show anything I'm interested in, nor award games I like, (ie Nintendo 😅). However, it's an event in December, and so it's an excuse to break out the snacks and spend time with my brothers. Mind you, it'd be a lot more fun if the older one didn't immediately sneer and talk over every remotely anime-esque game like he does literally every year. I actually almost missed the Metaphor initial trailer because of it.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (9th November)

Kirbysonic

I'm really hoping my brother gets back from hospital tomorrow- if he does, I'm gonna start the Ace Attorney Investigations duology as from seeing me play the other AA titles, he's taken a shine to Edgeworth 🙂 he can watch me play while he builds his strength back up lol.

That aside, I am 40 hours into Persona 5 Royal. Time really does just melt when you're deep into it! Loving it so far, and find it absolutely hilarious that while in other rpgs, you may be close to the end by then, here I've only just finished the 3rd palace. Also Yusuke is the best 😉

Also playing Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow via the Dominus Collection. It was originally my brother's, and I can see why I preferred Portrait of Ruin as a kid. The map design is annoying in that there's not a lot of teleportation points and there's a ton of dead ends until you get the Puppet Masters ability. Still, I'm happy to carry on in the world of Castlevania 🙂

Happy gaming all ❤️

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (5th October)

Kirbysonic

I recently started Persona 5 Royal so I'll be diving more into that 😁 I actually watched the anime first lol so I know a great deal of the plot already. That may actually be a good thing though, as it's such a big commitment of a game that I'd want to know if it's my cup of tea or not. Suffice to say, I'm very excited to play through it 🙂

I finished Portrait of Ruin recently and am so proud - my child self relied solely on cheats, you see 😜 mind you, there's a little extra post game stuff I can play around with, so I think I will.

I started AA Spirit of Justice the other day as well 🙂 not sure how I feel about the new gimmick (I took embarrassingly long to find the contradictions in my first use of it in case 1!!) but I'll probably get used to it.

I have dabbled with the demo for Metaphor: ReFantazio on XBox too. I can already tell I'm going to absolutely love this game but I'm struggling to find the time to play that as well haha.

Happy gaming all 🙂

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (14th September)

Kirbysonic

I started Duel Destinies recently, so gonna power through the second case and move on. It's not doing much for me at the moment, as much as Apollo Justice did but hey, it's still Ace Attorney 🙂

I bought the Castlevania Dominus Collection so I could replay Portrait of Ruin after so many years- absolutely love it 😁 feels amazing to play, although it's gonna be way more difficult without my beloved DS cheats lol.

I also restarted the original Animal Crossing on GameCube....again haha. I don't know how long this town will last but it feels good to have something to play after work/outings. Just chatting to KK right now for a track 🙂

Happy gaming all ❤️

Re: 'Castlevania Dominus Collection' Brings Three DS Classics To Switch Today

Kirbysonic

I watched this at work and had to try so hard not to exclaim or tear up. So many hours were spent as a kid playing Portrait of Ruin on one of those DS cartridges with tons of games and cheats on them. Gonna be rough playing without those hehe. But I can't wait!!

(Oh yeah I technically don't have to 😅 just so much else to play right now)

Re: Nintendo Indie World & Partner Direct Announced For Tomorrow, August 27th 2024

Kirbysonic

Dang, hopefully my boss leaves the office long enough for me to watch it live 🫠😂
Interesting that it's one Direct followed by another! I don't generally get much out of other events like GamesCom so I'm looking forward to this 🙂 better watch it without my brother though or I'll have to listen to his nauseating 'ew, anime' comments every 5 minutes 😅

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (24th August)

Kirbysonic

Getting into Apollo Justice at the moment, though it is sorta tempting to try the Investigations Collection demo 🤭 it doesn't matter either way as I know what happens but it's there as an option!

I'm also playing Atelier Shallie and I finally got my own copy of Smash Bros Ultimate, in which I'm spending more time in nostalgia land with the old music and stages than anything else 😅 I really miss the N64 version haha.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (17th August)

Kirbysonic

Trying to push through and complete Shining Resonance: Refrain. There's an annoying bit where you're forced to fight with just two characters, one of which I never levelled up so it looks like I may have to grind even more 😅

Also playing Atelier Shallie which I'm enjoying 🙂 I prefer the other two in the trilogy but Atelier games just hit the spot for me.

Once I'm done with Shining Resonance, I will finally start the Apollo Justice Trilogy! I kept putting it off to make the series last longer, tackle the backlog a bit first and because I tend to put off things I want or like as much as possible. But I think I'll likely start it next month 😁 pre ordered the Investigations Collection too!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (3rd August)

Kirbysonic

I've gotten hooked on Atelier Shallie at the moment, which is sort of unfortunate as I was meant to start the Apollo Justice Trilogy haha. At least between that and Investigations Collection, I can make the series last longer. I'm also trying to finish Shining Resonance: Refrain at last- been on and off with playing it for a good while now and I feel bad for leaving games unfinished 😅 also got my daily Pocket Card Jockey to play 🙂

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (11th May)

Kirbysonic

I've just finished watching a playthrough of Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth 2. It's pretty sad, having to say goodbye to the cast...I did buy the Apollo Justice trilogy but I'm going to try and hold off on it for a bit so I can make the series last just a little longer. I'm obsessed 😅

In the meantime, me and my brother are playing Miitopia together, and I still dabble with Shining Resonance: Refrain. It's also my daily habit to dip into Pocket Card Jockey: Ride On!

Re: Soapbox: During A Mental Health Crisis, It Wasn't Cosy Games That Helped

Kirbysonic

Thank you for sharing this, it was lovely to read. I can understand how the thrill of racing can take your mind off things and with that safe thrill of danger. Well done for coming so far with your recovery ❤️❤️

I can't express what's happening with me at the moment but I think I'd be completely out of it if not for Ace Attorney. I'm smitten with the series (and Edgeworth haha) and it's giving me a reason to smile and laugh everyday. It's the little things that can count.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (6th April)

Kirbysonic

I've been so hooked on the Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney trilogy (Trials and Tribulations for the past week or so) that I've effectively ditched everything else. I don't really want to finish it....but it's so addictive and I just need to see the end!!

Saying that, I've been playing a bit of Shining Resonance on Switch, to at least give myself a break from time to time 😂 and to try and make the trilogy last (it really hasn't though 😜)

Re: Random: Capcom Reveals "Most Popular" Games And Comments From Fan Survey

Kirbysonic

Ace Attorney! I adored The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles but now I've been playing through the original Phoenix Wright trilogy and discovered there's an anime, I can't stop talking and thinking about it (well, not literally but enough lol). Things are tough in real life; to some degree they've always been. But having the AA world to escape in has been a blessing.

Re: More Sonic Game Rumours Surface Online After 'Sonic Toys Party' Leaks

Kirbysonic

My first thought was 'why THIS game?!' assuming it's true. I'm a huge Adventure fangirl 😅 I went back on Heroes after years, back at uni. Once I got to the Casino levels I got stuck and very fed up so I packed it in. The music is amazing, Team Chaotix are fun and I have fond memories of somehow finishing the game but I'm not sure I need to play it again anytime soon 😅

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (23rd March)

Kirbysonic

Currently playing through AA: Justice for All, which I'm not really liking as much as the previous one. But still, I'm almost done with case 3 so there isn't long to go. Still playing Atelier Escha and Logy- near the end of that too! And in-between I'm playing through Xenoblade 1 again, and getting some daily solitaire in with Pocket Card Jockey.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (March 9th)

Kirbysonic

With Super Mario RPG done, it's Atelier Escha and Logy and Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney for me. It's a bit hard adjusting to the DS-era graphics and music for Phoenix Wright, but the characters are as fun as ever 🙂

I sort of feel dissatisfied with my gaming though....I kind of also want to play something where I can switch off and bash monsters when I'm not concentrating super hard on alchemy or solving murders 🤔

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (March 2nd)

Kirbysonic

I'm right at the end of Super Mario RPG so I'll probably finish it tonight 🙂 also still playing Atelier Escha and Logy (I can't help but feel there's too much free time in it but hey). Capcom once again have a sale, so I'm gonna take the plunge and buy the first Ace Attorney trilogy- I really miss The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles 🥲

Re: 50 Best Nintendo Switch Games To Play Right Now (2024)

Kirbysonic

So many choices! At this moment in time, my top ten looks something like this:

Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition
Xenoblade Chronicles 3
Fire Emblem: Three Houses
Dragon Quest Builders 2
Dragon Quest 11
Harvestella
The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles
New Pokémon Snap
Disgaea 4
Atelier Ayesha: The Alchemist of Dusk DX

But there are so many others I could stick here. What an incredible library the Switch has 😁

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (February 24th)

Kirbysonic

The cute horses got me; I bought Pocket Card Jockey and like to dip in and out for races and practice solitaire sessions. I'm also still playing Mario RPG; I think I've almost finished it. And then there's Atelier Escha and Logy, which I'm a little underwhelmed by compared with Ayesha, but am enjoying. I've been looking for a deeper RPG so for the umpteenth time I've started a new file of Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition, my favourite ever game.

Re: The Original Star Wars: Battlefront Games Are Coming To Switch

Kirbysonic

OMG! The original Battlefront on PS2 made up a great chunk of my childhood, playing it with my brother 😁 we played the second one too, but I've always preferred 1. My favourite routine was playing as the Republic on Bespin (Platforms), Geonosis, Kamino and Kashyyyk (Docks). I only bought it on XBox a year or so back, but I'll happily double (triple?) dip to play solo and with both of my brothers again!

Re: Back Page: The Best Cows On The Nintendo Switch

Kirbysonic

My dad fell in love in with the cows in Mineral Town/Olive Town (I didn't realise people call them Bubble Cows! I'll have to tell him) and so we've ended up with two big plushies; the white one (called The Moower) and a brown one (called, predictably, The Browner). They are naturally very cute 😊

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (February 10th)

Kirbysonic

I'm very sad to have finished The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles at last...it was so good!!! Will we ever see 'Hurley' again? So I've started playing Super Mario RPG and Atelier Escha and Logy, plus carrying on with Cult of the Lamb. Mario RPG is just OK so far; I don't feel particularly invested yet so I put it on while listening to an interview or documentary.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (January 27th)

Kirbysonic

Still extremely addicted to The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles! I simply adore the cast and love the twists and turns in each case. Otherwise, I'm playing bursts of Cult of the Lamb; it's so satisfying seeing my little cult develop, especially when it isn't in a state of total chaos after returning from battle 😂 I've got a lot of other stuff to get 'round to playing eventually, but I'm perfectly happy with these two for a good while yet 😊

Re: Yes, The Nintendo Switch Showcase Really Was Seven Years Ago

Kirbysonic

Gosh, that long already?! So it was initially revealed in October- was that the trailer with the White Denim track playing? I'm thinking of my mom- she agreed to buy the Switch when it would come out, but sadly passed away in November. So actually owning the Switch was bittersweet for awhile. I'm not sure I watched the 2017 presentation 🤔 but who'd have thought the Switch would become so big, after the Wii U era? Time flies! And it's certainly now one of my favourite consoles of all time 😊

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (Christmas 2023 Edition)

Kirbysonic

I got three games for my birthday a few days back, courtesy of my awesome bros, so they'll certainly keep my busy when I'm not doing last minute Christmas wrapping and stockings in the night!

So I'm hooked on The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles at the moment. Have never played any game in the series, so my brother gambled on this one- and once again (he takes a chance on a game for me every year), succeeded 😁 the humour, the (admittedly smug) satisfaction in uncovering a clue, the very real anger when the culprit dodges scrutiny- all so good! Can't wait to see where it goes 🙂

Then there's Cult of the Lamb, which my other brother got me. I watched a hilarious video by CharlieBarley on it, which is why I wanted to play it. Dark and yet so cute! What a combo 😌 my brother claims it has a ton of similarities to Warhammer- is that true?

Finally, he also got me Star Ocean: The Divine Force. I've been after that one for months and I've finally got it woo! Haven't had a chance to play it yet, but I'm almost done with Christmas prep so I'll be starting it properly in a few days.

In short, the lads have spoiled me and it ain't even Christmas yet. Hopefully they like what I've got them 😅 one of them is definitely getting Super Mario RPG!
