I have 6/8 melodies in EarthBound so I'll probably be nearing the end this weekend.

That makes me a little sad, even with no nostalgia for it, it's shaping up to be one of my favourite games.

This week I finished Dragon Quest V and I really enjoyed it.

In the mood of another classic rpg I've started my first play through of EarthBound. Wow, I'm about 6 hours in and I think I'm in love. The gameplay can be a little clunky but I don't think I've ever been as charmed and drawn in by the atmosphere and style of a game.

I'll also be trying out Terry and Ness in Smash.

I use my 3ds more than my Switch now I've got into rpgs this year. Such a great catalogue with Atlus, Fire Emblem etc.

And the Dragon Quest VIII discount is good timing after the release of XI. I've recently picked up a physical copy, or I'd be tempted myself.

I don't like to get ahead of myself with rumours. But after the success of Three Houses I'm sure they will be working on something. A remake could make sense as it should have a quicker turnaround.

I've just about to start the third act of Dragon Quest V (DS).

I have a rare few hours to myself today so I'm hoping to make some more progress.

I really want this but I need to finish 5 (50 hours in) and I haven't even started 1, so one to pick up in the New Year drought.

I finished Dragon Quest XI last weekend and it really made me want to explore the series further so now I'm playing through Dragon Quest V (DS).

I’m now about 45 hours in to Dragon Quest XI.
I am loving this game, I don’t really want it to end.
Which is handy, as the game doesn’t seem to want to end either!

I might pick this up when on sale, but I wish it was the SNES versions.

I’m about 25 hours in to DQXI and it is such a joy to play. I can understand why people describe the series as comfort food. I’m very keen to try some other entries in the series now. I hope Santa is listening (I’m 38!)

Dragon Quest 11 is well deserved as the best game.

I’ve just ordered 7 & 8 (3DS) as a Christmas treat for myself!

After finally beating SMT Strange Journey l had a long list of backlog games I need to give attention (feeling guilty about Astral Chain and Octopath that have both been dipped into).

But with everyone gushing about Dragon Quest XI I couldn’t resist temptation and I’ve picked that up. Only about 5 hours in but it’s worth all the praise so far. I’m new to the series.

I bought Ni No Kuni on Switch, a real shame if it’s lost in the shuffle.

I wish game releases were spaced out more, maybe that’d help.

I’m finally just starting the final sector in SMT Strange Journey. It’s quite tricky so I’m proud I’ve made it this far.

I played through the gbc version a few years ago on my 3ds and loved it. Probably one of my favourite Zelda games.

But I prefer how the original looks, and not enough new for me here to justify the price. Shame it wasn’t a spiritual successor instead.

It’s interesring that the PQube / Arcsystemworks discounts are permanent.

Ni No Kuni (physical) for me. It’s arrived early but I’m too lost in the backlog shuffle to capitalise on it.

I’ve preordered this. Considering my backlog it’s probably as an an early Christmas present to myself.

I love Ghibli and I have the PS3 version, but never got far. Switch is so much more convenient for long rpgs like this.

Great, since getting the Ghibli dlc I’ve not really been following what else has been added.

@Mince thanks. I hear that about screens. But my problem is staying asleep. I wake up early. And falling asleep early when I want to be gaming instead!

I focus mainly on eastern rpgs. So I need to expand my horizons. Like like limiting myself to east coast hip hop only.

@Mince I love Etrian Odyssey and SMT games so this hybrid is perfect for me. I find it addictive and relaxing. I’ve not been sleeping well recently so I’m often playing until I fall asleep!

EDIT: it looks good, thanks for letting me know. Labyrinth of Refrain is on my watch list too. But I’ve not retired by 3ds for this type of game just yet.

I’m lost in the addictive loop of SMT Strange Journey Redux. On the 4th area so I’m probably nearing the half way point.

Astral Chain is giving me a refreshing change of pace when I need a pallet cleanse.

Goku is like Pokemon for me at this point. Lots of anime and video games.

This was one of the first games I booted up when the SNES games were added last week. It’s still really fun.

My first game, and probably my favourite as a result. I didn’t own any others for a while. It’s very different now.

After finishing my first playthrough of FE3H this week (LOVED it) I’m finally getting around to SMT Strange Journey Redux. I’m about 7 hours in and I’m really enjoying it so far.

I’m not very good at juggling multiple games but I’m also treating my eyes to Astral Chain when I get some telly time.

And both Banjo in Smash and the SNES games are distracting me too. I’ve dusted off my 8bitdo SF30 controller.

Terry isn’t my favourite but it’s great to get some SNK love as for me they are at the pinnacle of the genre.

I never played on Wii U so it smarts less to pay full price for this.

So glad it’s getting a second chance and I get a chance to play it.

If this came out in the Switch’s first year I would have got it straight away, but my backlog is just too big now.

This can be added to my ever growing watch list, kinda a backlog in itself.

Bravely Default is quite tempting. I’d prefer to get a physical copy, but they can be expensive now

My copy is being dispatched today. But I’m away on holiday. At least I won’t feel as heartbroken when my holiday ends!

I’ve been on holiday this week and playing a lot of Fire Emblem Three Houses. Such a fantastic and addictive entry in the series.

Astral Chain will be waiting on the doormat when I get home. But I want to wrap up my first Fire Emblem run first.

Blade Strangers sure is tempting.

Unless a September Direct says otherwise, a December EU release would work for me too, as there’s not much I want that it’ll compete with.

This year I’m trying to be good and finish games before starting new ones.

I finished Persona 4 Golden this week. I didn’t want it to end. I don’t think I’ve ever been so invested in a games story and characters.

But now I’ve launched with gusto into Fire Emblem Three Houses. So far it has a similarly addictive gameplay loop.

I’ve just started a family holiday but I’m sneaking in bits where I can.

Well done Atlus! Probably my favourite 3rd party publisher.

It hurts that they don’t have any games on my favourite platform yet 2-3 years in. Although they are the kings of releasing their games late in a consoles lifetime I suppose.

Has the 3DS stopped doing sales? There were a couple of Atlus games I’m holding out on.

Physical is usually my preference. Especially for big rpgs as I usually play them in one long stretch rather than a game you dip into.

This will not help my RPG backlog. So it might be a treat once I’ve made a dent in it.

@Ralizah I need a handheld ps2 so I can get around to playing my copies of SMT Digital Devil Saga and Nocturne.

Switch ports would be nice whilst we await SMTV. But I know not to hold any hopes there.

I’m about 35 hours deep into Persona 4 Golden now. It feels like I’m nearing the end but I’m probably barely halfway through.

I’ll hopefully be done by the time Astral Chain drops so it’ll be that or Fire Emblem next.
