The first Trails Of Cold Steel (Vita) game for me. I’m on the 3rd chapter and being drawn deeper into the world. I’d recommend to fans of Persona and FE3H.
I’ll definitely be inching my way towards the Switch entries (3 and 4 on the way), which may take a while!
@NintendoByNature I was at level 77 I think to finish Xenoblade. I did die a couple of times on the final boss at one point so I was worried I might need a couple more but it was ok.
@sandman89 no stock in my area on click and collect. And i didn’t check where my relatives live as I wouldn’t push them to venture out for me in the current circumstances.
I completed Xenoblade last night so I need to catch my breath. What an amazing experience.
It would be foolish to jump straight into another long JRPG but it’s likely I’ll do just that and start on Trails Of Cold Steel (Vita). I hear it’s a slow burn, so I hope I like it. It reminds me a little of Persona and Fire Emblem 3H though, so it should be up my street.
About 5 hours into Xenoblade, and I’m finding the quest system an addictive way to progress. I can see how you might burn out on them but then you can collect a few without really trying.
Approaching 5 hours in and I’m just leaving the opening area to go in the caves.
Turning up the soundtrack makes the game even better.
I skipped this one as the same pattern happened to me for the DS and 3DS games.
I almost waivered as this did seem the best one yet and everyone was so into it. I enjoyed my time with the series. But now I’m commonly seeing everywhere people are just checking in a bit each day.
I get to experience the same fatigue with all the articles about it at least, so I can join in that way 😊
Maybe now would be as good a time as any to localise Dragon Quest X now the franchise is more successful in the West and FFIV is doing ok. Unlikely though I’m sure!
I’m finding the battle system and the way you can grind when you want and experiment with the job system very addictive. I love the art style, characters and soundtrack too.
It still feels though that the parts are greater than the whole. It might be because the story so far tying things together is just ok.
I do look forward to these events, but I can understand why things are on hold right now. Xenoblade will keep me going a while too I’m sure. Catherine, The Wonderful 101 and others are all coming soon too.
Nintendo were in a good position to clean up in 2020, with the PS4 and XBox One in their final stages, but with Animal Crossing it seems like they are anyway.
Well I’ve had a backer notification that my copy is delayed. Sucks but I understand (I’ll be busy with XC DE if I’m honest). I don’t have Steam or a laptop capable of running the game.
“Unfortunately, due to the effects of the COVID-19 epidemic, we’re expecting delays in preparing the US and EU physical versions. Backer rewards are being given the highest priority, but due to distribution issues, backers who have chosen physical versions of the game may receive it after general retail release. Our current estimate for the start of shipping rewards is late June. We apologize for the inconvenience, and thank you for your patience.
We know this is incredibly frustrating, and as a token of our apology for this, we will be providing all physical version backers with a Steam download code for The Wonderful 101: Remastered, so that they can play the game at the same time as backers who purchased the digital version.“
I dusted this off after over a year yesterday to show the kids. We had lots of fun, and were even on the winning team a few times.
Being rusty and most people online being experts that is a really welcoming experience, especially compared to online fighting games where I get put off by the barrier to entry.
@Tyranexx I hope you’re adjusting ok to working from home. I have been for a couple of years now. And even then it’s different when it’s a choice. You can get a lot done though!
@Steelhead good to hear. I managed about 4 stories in the first chapter. I enjoyed it. Then something like Dragon Quest XI came out and I was tempted away. When I’m in the right mood I want to come back to it. Ideally I want to play Octopath and Braverley Default before 2 comes out. But that might be a bit of a stretch.
@Tyranexx thanks. I’m a key worker apparently in the U.K. (I was surprised) but I’m safe working at home. My company provide HR and Finance services to Government departments. So we’re there to ensure that some of those on the front line are still getting paid. Same to you!
@Steelhead awesome. I hope it holds up for you. How are you finding Octopath? I started it last year, got distracted by something else, and I need to get back to it one day.
Final Fantasy X, my first game in the series and it feels very modern for a 20 year old game. That’s the joy of classic jrpgs! The linearity is helpful for a first timer, so I can learn the nuances of the battle system etc.
The kids like watching me play a bit of Smash at the moment too, they love King K Rool.
I’ve updated Mario Maker 2 but it’ll make more sense to check it out once people have made use of the new features. As I like playing levels not making them.

Re: NGPX Post-Show Streaming Schedule Revealed, Featuring SNK, Atlus, SEGA And More
Even keeping my expectations in check (localisations and ports rather than new announcements) I’m still really excited for this presentation.
All my favourite publishers in one place. So there is more of interest to me than the average E3 presentation or Nintendo Direct.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (June 13th)
@sandman89 I think I’m too late on Bravely Second. It’s not available to deliver to where I live or where any of my relatives live.
It’s weird that Argos availability to deliver is a postcode lottery! Understandable when it’s store collection.
They’ve got Fire Emblem Fates conquest for £1.99 too. A few cheap 3DS games worth checking out.

Re: Ikumi Nakamura Plans To Pitch New Okami Game To Former Employer Capcom
I loved Okami on the Switch so I’d be very interested.
This reminds me I have Okamiden in my backlog.

I thought I was getting a bargain when I paid a tenner for it, great deal.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (June 6th)
I’m a week into Xenoblade, trying and failing to not get too distracted by all the “!” points on the map. It’s so much fun!
I’ve just been in the High Entia Tomb.
I’m used to selecting I’m playing “something else” but a surprise when it’s the Number 1 game in the charts!
Re: UK Charts: Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition Goes Straight To Number One
A fantastic result and well deserved.
I’ve been addicted since the game arrived on Friday.

Re: PQube Slashes A Massive 95 Percent Off Visual Novel Kotodama's eShop Price, Teases New IP
I’m wanting to explore VNs and I have lots of spare points.
The reviews make it a maybe though, it would still cost my time.
Re: Poll: Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition Is Out Today On Switch, Are You Getting It?
It’s plopped through my letterbox. I’m looking forward to trying it later today.
Re: Video: Digital Foundry Delivers Its Verdict On Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition
I don’t really notice this kind of thing to be honest. Let’s see if I do this time as I get a lot more time to play in handheld than docked.
Re: Physical Games Are Thriving In The UK, Strongest April Sales Recorded In Five Years
Excellent, I thought Covid might have accelerated the decline pushing people to download more.
This news makes me happy to be wrong.
Re: Square Enix Announces Infinity Strash - Dragon Quest: The Adventure Of Dai, But Is It Coming To Switch?
Yes please! With PS4 in its death throes and Switch doing so well in Japan it would be crazy not to come over.
Hopefully it will get a Western release or at least an English sub.

Golly this has taken a long time.
July’s looking even better.
Re: Catherine: Full Body Will Get A Demo On Switch, File Size And Other Details Revealed
This has reminded me to preorder.
I’ve been wanting to play it for a while and it comes out near my birthday.

@Ronwantread enjoy. I hope you like it!
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (May 23rd)
@ryando happy birthday! A good treat for it
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (May 23rd)
@garfreek thanks. I plan on playing Zero Escape Virtues Last Reward too, it’s on the Vita collection I’m playing.
I played AI The Somnium Files first, so doing it the wrong way around! It was also great.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (May 23rd)
Zero Escape 999. It’s very engrossing. I was up very late getting an ending which was foolish as I’m working today.
I reckon I’ll have it finished in time for Xenoblade.

Pretty much all my favourite 3rd party developers. This will be more exciting for me than a Nintendo presentation!

I think I’ll wait on reviews this time rather than pre order. But then I often tell myself this!
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (May 16th)
Still Bravely Default for me.
Aiming to finish it before Xenoblade in a fortnights time.
Re: Gallery: See How Much Better Xenoblade Chronicles Looks On Switch
Gimmie!
(Please ship on time).
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (May 9th)
After beating FFX I’ve started Braverley Default.
I’m finding the battle system and the way you can grind when you want and experiment with the job system very addictive. I love the art style, characters and soundtrack too.
It still feels though that the parts are greater than the whole. It might be because the story so far tying things together is just ok.

@playthedangame how’s Trails Of Cold Steel 2? I’m waiting for the first game to arrive in the post (Vita) because not on Switch as you say
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (May 2nd)
Still Final Fantasy X for me.
It just took me 3 attempts to beat Seymour Flux. I’m guessing that within the next week I’ll have reached the end of the game?
Re: EVO 2020 Has Been Officially Cancelled, Will Be Replaced By An Online Event

Re: The Retail Release Of The Wonderful 101: Remastered Has Been Delayed
I commented on the other thread that I can wait a bit longer, I’m prioritising XC DE anyway.
I won’t have use for the Steam code myself, not sure how much hassle it would be to try and sell it.

Re: Neo Geo Pocket Color Title SNK Gals' Fighters Is Available Now On Nintendo Switch
Ooh I’m more interested in this than the recent reimagining.
A Neo Geo Pocket collection would be even more tempting though.
Re: The Wonderful 101: Remastered File Size And Other Details Revealed
Is this when backers can expect to receive it too?
Re: Shigesato Itoi's Company Announces The Mother Project - Includes Book And "Other News" Before The End Of 2020
I ended up playing Earthbound on my 3DS so it’s annoying not getting the value of this series as part of the online service. I absolutely loved it.
I would buy the collection in an instant, but I’ll temper my expectations.

A very decent month, especially impressive in current circumstances.
I’d be just as happy to put Xenoblade 19 times!
Re: Persona 5 Scramble Localisation 'Still Being Planned', According To Koei Tecmo Report
I’d assumed they’d have recorded the voice acting at the same time as Royal to make it easier logistically.
