Might be time for me to finally dip into Cave Story!

Given the Blade Strangers update, tempted

heard good things about cave story , only thing putting me off is the short play time, which all of these games seem to share

Cave Story and Binding of Isaac are top tier games both, latter may be bit on an acquired taste but former I would recommend to just about anybody who likes a good action platformer.

Can any f-zero fans comment on Redout?

Get Cave Story if you haven't played it. That said, the regular prices of all these games is sort of outlandishly expensive so most of these games are priced "just right" at 50% off.

Blade Strangers sure is tempting.

Still don't get why Cave Story 3d isn't on the switch... It had so few copies on 3ds but was really fun to play.

@sandman89 I am with you on this one. I couldn't finish the game. The gameplay is subpar, the story not captivating and is a very poor metroidvania

@Balta666 Yeah I sorta agree. It was charming for what it was, but it doesn’t deserve to be placed amougst the top of the indie pile. I’d put it somewhere in the middle.

@Expa0 TBoI had me skeptical for a while as well, and I'm still not keen on many of its more physiological design elements, but past them lies a deep roguelite full of content, replayability and dark humour. Granted, the latter won't be everyone's cup of tea either - but then again, nothing is, and nor are roguelites themselves in the first place.

Cave Story is on my wishlist as well, alongside Blade Strangers and many other items this post reports, but September tends to be the broke month for me, even in the face of sales.😆

Have had Cave Story on my wishlist pretty much since its release. Now Nicalis whacks it on sale more or less in the same month that we also get Astral Chain, Fire Emblem Three Houses, Dragon Quest XI, Link's Awakening, Ni No Kuni...

F-Zero GX is among my top 10 favourite games, so I guess I qualify. I didn't really care about Redout though I've only played 3-4 tracks on my friends PS4. F-Zero GX raised the bar so high for me I haven't really enjoyed any of the modern futuristic racer (though that FAST Neo on Wii U held my attention for some time).

@konbinilife it's utterly fantastic, but alas, the frame rate on switch makes it really hard in higher teirs 🙁

Anyone else feel like these discounted prices should be their normal prices lol. Seriously even 14.99 for cave story plus i believe is the normal price on steam. I feel like they've been overcharging a bit for the Nicalis games, I do enjoy some of these however the price point definitely made me stay away. I played original cave story, and wouldn't mind trying the + version, but 15 bucks still too much for as old as the game is and me having regular elsewhere. I also definitely got VVVVV for 99 cents at one point lol.

For $5 I may grab VVVVVV again.

I'd double dip on VVVVVV if I wasn't saving my Gold Points and eShop credit for West of Loathing's DLC (it's still coming). Sublime games, both of them.

$15 is a fair price for Cave Story... I got it on Switch during the last sale and got approximately half-way through it during a vacation... need to get back to it.

I know a couple of people who are their switch as a binding of Isaac machine mainly and are quite happy with it that way. Never really felt the pull of it after a few hours myself but it's got crazy play times by many on my friends list.

I'd be interested in seeing a Nintendo Life review of Umihara Kawase Fresh! I've been intrigued by the series' gameplay mechanic of swinging with the fishing pole before, but never have taken the bait. It doesn't look like there's many reviews of it yet on Metacritic.

Isaac is still 5 bucks too much, and the regular price makes me literally laugh at my screen each time I see it listed on the eShop

What happenned to listing CDN prices? Last time I checked, Canada is still a part of NA. And we don't have those prices. Example: Redout is $37.49 up here, not $29.99

I remember you guys mentionning CDN prices at some point in the past. I found that this was a nice touch.

If it's too much work to do (I understand!), at least, replace "Current Price (NA)" with "Current Price (US)". This will be more accurate.

Loved Binding of Isaac. I put more than 200 hours into it! The only other game that I played in this list was Cave Story. I tried to like it but I just couldn't stick with it. I am curious about Tiny Barbarian.

@joey302 Yeah, deffinitly. Although, if that Pelicanis guy had gone with a different publisher, I bet we'd all have played it by now.
Sadly, from what I've read, Nicalis have screwed over quite a few small devs with their crappy publishing deals. Thing is, I'm sure the game would have been a success, it's something that people have wanted for a long time, so it's not like it's going to loose them money by publishing it.

@Dizzy_Boy a shame yea I heard about that stuff. I hope one day the game can still get out the door! Stranger things have happened- I certainly never expected the Disney Aladdin/Lion King combo pack to happen in 10 thousand years (like the Genie says lol) so you never know!

I first played Cave Story on WiiWare & then downloaded it again on Switch. On both versions I made it to the final boss, but have never been able to beat the game. Eventually, I moved on to other games. I still think about going back to it every now & then, but I have such a large backlog, I'm not sure when that'll happen.
