Remaining DLC Fighters For BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle 2.0 Update Revealed

I hated this game. It’s like trying to do trigonometry at the speed of light. I played 50 times and never one. I only bought it because I like RWBY

They should've added another Arcana Heart and Senran Kagura representative.

Consider that RWBY is just now getting one new character a year and a half after release. Not to mention 2/3 of the whole roster is DLC and costs extra money. It was not worth the 70 bucks I spent (50 for base, 20 for literally a chunk of the roster) because after you beat the story, there's very little to do. No Arcade Mode, no score attack or time attack. Just a barebones survival mode and online (which no one plays.) And now I have to spend 25 more dollars? No thanks. I have Smash and Mortal Kombat, but I guess I'll have to wait for a better "MvC-ish" game. (I don't like Dragon Ball so I don't have DBFZ.)

I didn't hate it but it didn't stick. I'm curious what's new in the V2.0 update though. Did they ever put in an arcade mode?

Nope. Once you beat the story, all there is is Survival and online (which people barely play). That's it.

I don't get the hater, this is still one fine fighting game. Probably one of the best for the Switch at this point right behind MK11, Dragon Ball FighterZ, Guilty Gear XX, and Samurai Shodown. These DLC characters are questionable but the game still plays super solid.

I really wanted to like it, but having no Arcade mode killed it instantly. Instead of adding new fighters, they should have added some modes for crying out loud 🙄🙄🙄 I only played it for 2 or 3 hours

I’d just really love a new Persona fighting game. Ultimax was properly full of content.

I'm not a fan of Dragonball but I got the fighting game anyway, it's just so good, tons of hours for single player stuff.

Unless you really hate the design, voices, etc it is a great game.

Considering real Persona has almost no chance of coming to Switch (despite Joker's Smash appearance may have you believe. Atlus has tunnel vision), I'd honestly accept a port of P4AU just to see what the big deal is.

@StephanDLW The complexity has been toned down a lot in this game.

I would've bought the game if they didn't simplify the gameplay so much and they chose Guilty Gear instead of rwby.

I am in to fighters, but not that great when it comes to doing 20 hit combos or longer and this game is probably one of the easier ones besides Nitroplus and SNK Heroines TTF (that one has no crouch, and can only be won with a finisher move...).

I bought the Deluxe Edition for AU$80 on Switch, which is probably the cheapest you can get it for, as its never on Sale on the eShop... and there is no such thing as a Physical Copy, so it was either Online or Import from UK... which turns out the UK version while cheaper than the base game on the eShop, buying the DLC separate costs AU$80 anyway.

(Why are games so expensive on the switch compared to every other platform that has a better options, The Switch doesn't even have achievements, which makes finishing the story pointless because you have nothing to show, or build up. once you finish the story, its just throw in the bin, at least on PS4, you have a Platinum trophy to get afterwards.)

Only Elizabeth is worthy in this pack. And is too much overpriced like the inteire game. Are unbalanced fighters they bringed from Blazblue. So, in the end, a unbalanced game with no arcade which nobody play online at a absurd price. The good characters are not enough to save it.

Kinda weird seeing how many people are upset at a game in a genre geared around competitive multiplayer experiences not having the most detailed offline spread. I'd understand complaints at the way this game has been updated (see: sparsely) and monetized (see: excessively) but there seem to be just as many people giving it the finger for not having a lengthy single player experience or for being too complicated.

I've been clamoring for Adachi since day one but it seemed like a pipe-dream since he was simply DLC in P4AU.
This certainly makes picking the game up again seem even more tempting.

@JR150 Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid is a really fun MvC style game, if you're looking for one. It's more like MvC2 and MvC3 than MvCI was. The roster is small, but the chatacters are all varied and fun to play. The control scheme is simplified in a Smash Bros. style way that's just really accessible and cool. The game does go on sale once in a while too. The collecter's edition was 23 dollars last month.

@JR150 Yes power rangers battle for the grid is surprising good. The game is continuing to be supported with new modes, dlc (free & paid) and supports crossplay. The story mode is pretty good as well. If you were ever a fan of the power rangers franchise it's an easy buy. If power rangers was never your cup of tea the game it's at least worth looking into because the mechanics are so solid. A very underrated fighter indeed.

Am I the only one who thought wtf is beerus doing in this when it said god of destruction?

I kinda wish joker would be a surprise dlc or something, but these guys are cool

@cryptologous Why is it weird that people are upset that this game doesn't have much single player content? That was standard in BlazBlue games. There is nothing on the back of the box that makes it clear that single player was mostly dropped. And the plaza that acts as a hub world has an arcade corner which implies that there was going to be a arcade mode, but it is the only feature in the plaza that is decorative only. Of all the fighting games I have, this has by far the worst off-line content I've ever seen.

@TheFox Probably because this has been the BB title most heavily advertised to a competitive audience possibly ever. It was announced at EVO for one. The RWBY crossover was also hugely advertised so expectations for a detailed campaign to add to the BB canon just didn't seem sensible, at least to me. The fact the main gameplay loop is completely different to all the mainline titles should only be further indication. Tag team titles have also traditionally fared worse with casual audiences than 1v1 games with the only notable exceptions being Tag Tournament or DBFZ, and there's a good argument to be made that DBFZ would have sold just as well if not better if it weren't a tag team game because of the IP.

Also, idk what fighting games you own or have played, but while the single player content here is sparse, it is no where near as bad as a litany of other games, the aforementioned DBFZ and Tekken 7 being two very recent examples. Street Fighter V didn't launch with an arcade mode (took 2 years to add) and what it did launch with was much worse than what's on offer in CTB. None of this is to mention older titles like half the SoulCalibur games or a great deal of the old SNK and Capcom classics that were essentially nothing more than an arcade mode.

So are they still not going to add an arcade mode? Well then I don't see the point because honestly this is kind of a zombie when it comes to it's online scene, hardly anyone is still playing it. The story mode is terrible, the survival mode is kinda lame, and they have had these arcade cabinets on the hub this entire time that never got used.

With a 2.0 update I would have expected them to add an arcade mode, especially considering how long this game has been out. No way I am going to bother with this game again until they add some more single player content.

@CrimsonMoonMist I play on both PS4 and Switch, but this'll take a lot of my focus from Smash playing as Joker. But I'm skeptical of how they'll adjust Adachi to BBTAG...

my only complaints with this game that keeps me from ever buying it, is 1, the simplified fighting mechanics make it too easy and less rewarding to play and more importantly the lack of the tried and true difficulty choice (stylish/technical control schemes blazeblu has always had to choose from on the character screen). and last but not least, the lack of adding handicap/ extra health bars in the game options menu. the rounds for whatever reason in cross tag are wayyyyyy to quick/short compared to previous blazblu entries, and makes me feel i dont get to appreciate the artwork of the beautfiul animations going on while fighting like previous titles were it was possible. also the lack of detailed special attacks in cross tag is suppppper disappointing. the supers animations are sooo simple/short and kills alot of what i like in blazblu. the art, which is usually amazing. The only reason i was ever hyped for cross tag when it was annoucned, was becuz of the ability to play as new characters that havent been in fighting games yet, like RWBY. They didnt have to go and CHANGE all of what makes blazblue so awsome. UGH...if it aint broke, dont fix it, wtf.

@Travisemo007 it's not a mainline game. BB has had spinoff games before. None of them play like the mainline games.

@cryptologous It's funny that you ask "what fighting games have you played?" and then mention Tekken 7. After buying and being disappointed with this game and hearing about the shenanigans surrounding Street Fighter V, I got paranoid about buying fighting games. So when I finally got a PS4 last year, I thought I wanted Tekken 7 since I liked previous installments, but thinking back to BBCTB, I carefully read/watched reviews. So I guess I can thank BlazBlue for helping me avoid a disappointing Tekken. But even in this BlazBlue game had a basic arcade mode, I'm be happy.

@TheFox Tekken 7 is actually my favourite fighting game of all time at this point as a massive fan of competitive play, but I could never in good faith recommend it to someone who wants a good offline experience because to say it is lacking is a severe understatement. SFV is worth it now as far as I'm concerned but it certainly wasn't for the first two years of its life cycle. If arcade mode is your biggest pull, I'd highly recommend checking out some of those older SNK and Capcom titles if you haven't then. In particular, Garou: Mark of the Wolves which you can pick up for cheap on the Switch eShop. Probably the perfect arcade fighter; it has aged like fine wine.

Also keep your ears to the ground regarding Skull Girls which should be out on Switch very soon. Has quite a lot of offline content and is all round a brilliant game. Probably the most unique fighter out there aesthetically. And of course, there's a new Guilty Gear just around the corner, and I have no doubt the next mainline BlazBlue will be more akin to prior games in the franchise with its offline content.

So much hate for this game.

But I think this is to be expected since as of right now, not many other franchises seem interested in joining the roster, especially when the online is so miniscule at this point.

I see a lot of folks complaining about the lack of an arcade mode. I agree survival doesn't do it for me either, however, I rather an Abyss mode or something crazy like that to match the simple yet busted personality this game boasts, on the flipside as I have friends who enjoy tag fighters like I do, I spend a lot of time in Versus mode which is probably why I don't feel as burned out as others do when it comes to offline fun.

That said more modes in fighters are always welcome, since there's still one more stream to come before the release month, and since they announced all the characters in one go, maybe next month they will reveal a new mode. (I hope)

@cryptologous ummmm crosstag does in a way...its actually more similar than the other spinoffs are to it, sooo much calling it a spinoff is a bit of a stretch. However, i hope you are correct, as i would prefer them not to continue these not so desirable mechanics in future blazblue titles.

@Travisemo007 spinoff games can be identical mechanically to a mainline game. They just generally aren't. Tekken has a few spinoff games that play just like mainline Tekken. The fact this game not only has different combat mechanics but also a storyline that doesn't link up with the BB canon makes me believe it's a spinoff.

So yea, I wouldn't be too concerned. A big portion of the BB community largely prefers Central Fiction so I'd wager the next mainline game will abandon the tag system completely.
