@Tyranexx I’ve been listening to soundtrack compilations on YouTube so I don’t know the track names yet. I like the slow ones, fast ones and choral ones is my limited understanding! I need the soundtrack to properly pick out highlights.
I also find it easier to listen to instrumental music at work.
Every story makes me wonder more if I’ll regret skipping Animal Crossing this generation. But given my playtime on the previous entries I may as well throw all my other games in the bin if I succumb.
Is Smash always top 5 still or doing a bit better?
This is both exciting and disappointing at the same time.
I was expecting a new style or 2, and having more Nintendo characters available.
I do hope this inspires a lot of new levels with everyone on lockdown. I’d give them a try, especially as I haven’t picked up Animal Crossing this generation.
I definitely want to get this one day. I haven’t due to the backlog but it sounds like a powerful short experience that would be good to sandwich between longer games.
SMT Devil Survivor 2 Record Breaker (3DS) for me. I’m on day 7 so I might even finish it too. Although I think I need to grind up a few levels before I can push on.
I didn’t like the characters at first, but the gameplay is one of the best of the SMT series that I’ve played at least. The fates system is drawing me more into the characters.
I’ve gone Chaos as I often do. I have some regret though as the alignments are more political this time (not intending to make political comments here, I avoid those debates if I can on a gaming site, everyone’s entitled to their own values and we are a global community here with cultural differences I respect - but it impacts my thoughts on this game).
Law is more about equality and Chaos this time is submitting to a higher power which I usually don’t like about Law. As a socialist I find it weird following this capitalist route, which also isn’t the freedom route this time.
I’m hopelessly addicted to SMT Devil Survivor 2 Record Breaker (3DS).
I’ve played about 30 hours in the last week which is a lot for me as I’m still working full time during the outbreak and I have a young family.
I just keep grinding: levelling up, cracking skills and fusing demons. There’s so much variety in combinations with 8 demons needed for your party.
I keep forgetting about progressing the story. Which has a cheeky humour and is improving but isn’t amongst my favourites in the SMT series so far in (Day 4).
The story is better than Tokyo Mirage Sessions for me at least and I do like the Fates system being a bit like social links.
It does seem like diminishing returns for these releases. But at least there was a strong start when we needed it most when there wasn’t much else to play in the early days.
I’m definitely intrigued by this. I’d heard good things but I didn’t investigate further when it wasn’t on a system I own. I’d just get jealous and frustrated, now I don’t have to!
I finished Danganronpa 2 last night. At first I wasn’t as gripped as the first game as it felt like more of the same so it wasn’t as shocking and slower paced. I preferred the setting and thrill of the new in the first game. But I loved the last 2 chapters more than any from the first game.
I’ve had a break from jrpgs to avoid burnout over the last few months, now I’m ready, a bit of comfort food needed.
Torn between a few from my backlog: starting SMT Devil Survivor 2 Record Breaker, finishing Ni No Kuni, or maybe a classic like Dragon Quest 8 or Final Fantasy 6. Decisions decisions!
I traded the 3ds copy in my backlog as soon as the Switch game was announced. I’ve just pre ordered today, I’m looking forward to see what the fuss is about as I’ve never played a Xenoblade game before
@KitsuneNight I’m new to the genre so the ones I’m working through are too obvious to need recommending. I’m trying the ‘classics’ first like Danganronpa, Zero Escape.
Probably better if you had some recommendations for me?
I’ve been mostly playing Persona 4 Arena (PS3) this week. Working my way through the story chapters and completing everyone’s arcade campaigns.
I picked it up cheap at my local CEX on a whim a couple of months back but it’s turning into one of my favourite fighting games.
Probably because I love Persona, and mostly playing fighting games and visual novels at the moment. It ticks all the boxes!
On Switch whilst everyone else is playing Animal Crossing to get away from it all, I’ve just downloaded The Walking Dead (Telltale Season 1).
All the talk here of Platinum Games has inspired me to get back to Astral Chain. It suffered from coming out between Fire Emblem 3H and Dragon Quest XI last year.
I’m just finishing up chapter 3, and coming off the back of Danganronpa and AI The Somnium Files I’m finding the investigation sections especially enjoyable. I just need to get the hang of the combat.
I love Picross but I’ve found the Switch releases a bit bare bones.
This sounds great. I haven’t played an Ace Attorney game but I’ve recently picked up the Trilogy in the Capcom sale. I might pick this up once I’m done with that.
It felt more like preordering a game at a reasonable price than backing a project to me.
I think they did kind of use Kickstarter for the wrong reasons. But I don’t feel used. It was the first project I’ve backed as it seemed very low risk I wouldn’t get the game.

Re: Music: Treat Yourself To A Taste Of Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition's Remastered Soundtrack
@Tyranexx stunning, I’ll give them another spin as I’m working Saturdays during the crisis
Re: Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition Will Feature Both The Original And Remastered Soundtracks
I’m playing FFX now and I can’t wait for XC DE. It’s great to have these options, but as a newbie to both games you wonder which option to go for.
XC DE is so huge I doubt I’ll be doing a 2nd playthrough anytime soon.
Re: Music: Treat Yourself To A Taste Of Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition's Remastered Soundtrack
@Tyranexx awesome thanks. I’ll give them a listen (at work) now.
EDIT: gorgeous!

@Tyranexx same for me!

Re: Music: Treat Yourself To A Taste Of Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition's Remastered Soundtrack
I’ve been listening to the OG soundtrack a lot on YouTube recently as I’m so excited, even this morning.
Re: Dead Cells' Bestiary Update Comes To Consoles Next Month, Here Are The Full Patch Notes
I loved this game so much when it came out. The updates make me tempted to come back to it but there is so much to play.
It might be something good to return to in between longer games, or if I’ve finished a game a few days before a new release.
Re: Review: Trials of Mana - Old And New Combine To Create A Fine RPG Adventure
@Tasuki ah thanks, it helps to know you could jump in anywhere
Re: Review: Trials of Mana - Old And New Combine To Create A Fine RPG Adventure
I’ve downloaded the demo, I’m tempted but I’ve never played the series so the Mana Collection is just as tempting.

Re: Splatoon 2 Version 5.2.0 Update Patch Notes
@Reigestugatensho off topic but Tales Of Vesperia is on my get to one day list! I hope you’re enjoying it?
Re: Splatoon 2 Version 5.2.0 Update Arrives On Switch Next Week
I had a lot of fun with this game when it first came out but not picked it up for ages (maybe when the big updates stopped).
Do people still play it much?
Re: Bravely Default Producer Apologises For End Layer On 3DS, Says It Didn't Live Up To Expectations
Like others have commented I’m more hoping they’ve listened to the feedback about the pacing of the first game.
Re: UK Charts: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Returns To Top Ten With 317% Weekly Sales Boost
I’m more surprised that Mario Kart 8 had dropped so low last week.
Guessing it’s either discounts on other games or temporary stock shortages?
Re: Bandai Namco Hosts Huge Nintendo Switch eShop Sale, Up To 75% Off Top Games
I like how 3rd parties regularly offer decent discounts.
I’d be tempted to pick up Tales Of Vesperia but I want a physical copy.
Re: Nintendo Switch System Update 10.0.0 Is Now Live
A big and yet underwhelming update at the same time for me at least as the new features are nice but not anything from my wish list.

Re: Nintendo Switch 'Update Data' Maintenance Scheduled For Later This Month
I’ll try and keep my expectations in check. An update would be nice though and is long overdue!
Re: UK Charts: Animal Crossing: New Horizons Slips To Fourth, Only Nintendo Game In Top Ten
@Noid everyone has personal tastes but like others have said Persona 5 is famed for its UI.
Also if the colour scheme isn’t your thing avoid The White Stripes albums too!

Re: The Legend Of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel IV Announced For Nintendo Switch
Another series I’d like to try. I might see if the first 2 games come to Switch or how expensive they are on Vita.
Re: Nintendo Announces 'Up To 80% Off' Switch Sale, More Than 300 Games To Be Discounted (Europe)
I almost picked up Final Fantasy IX but I’m hoping for Undertale to get discounted again, or maybe something else if there is a deep discount.

I’ve started Danganronpa 2.
I’m rooting for hope to triumph over despair for the people in lockdown.

Just in time for my birthday.
But probably means that Persona 5S won’t be a summer release then.
Re: A Nintendo Direct Mini Has Just Been Shadow-Dropped, Watch It Here
Xenoblade, Catherine & Braverley Default II I’m most excited for. But I knew about those already. I might try Bioshock.
Re: Review: SeaBed - A Moving Visual Novel Masterpiece, If You Give It A Chance
@KitsuneNight very true! What I mean is I have a pile of VNs that I’ll probably want to play before I get to this, so I can wait for a sale.
Re: Review: SeaBed - A Moving Visual Novel Masterpiece, If You Give It A Chance
I’m intrigued, but a few VNs on my backlog already

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (March 14th)
I’ve finished up Astral Chain which was really good, apart from one frustrating stealth bit towards the end.
I’ve picked up Guilty Gear Xrd Rev very cheap this week so I plan to play around in practice mode this weekend. Then maybe start Danganronpa 2.
Both aren’t Switch games, but they should be!
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (March 7th)
All the talk here of Platinum Games has inspired me to get back to Astral Chain. It suffered from coming out between Fire Emblem 3H and Dragon Quest XI last year.

This sounds great. I haven’t played an Ace Attorney game but I’ve recently picked up the Trilogy in the Capcom sale. I might pick this up once I’m done with that.

Re: Poll: Vote For Your Favourite Fire Emblem Games
I’ve only tried the recent entries, all of which I love.
So I feel my vote would just skew things. I’d love it if the GC & Wii games were remastered for Switch so I can experience these beloved games myself.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (February 29th)
AI The Somnium Files for me.
It hasn’t been love at first sight like Danganronpa last week. But I’m 8 hours in and getting more drawn into its world.
