It's been an eventful week in the run up to the launch of a certain creature-capture game that will inevitably be keeping team NL (and most of you, we'd imagine) busy this weekend - Sonic the Hedgehog returned in updated silver screen form in a new trailer which seems to have gone down much better than the first one, Smash Bros. fans have been getting to grips with Terry and the new update, and Nintendo 64 sales spiked dramatically on eBay ahead of the holiday season.
The Nintendo Life team have gathered to discuss our plans and we'd love for you to join in via our poll and comment sections below. Enjoy!

This weekend - and all of next week, in fact - I’ve scheduled in a lovely bit of ‘me time’. In my case, that means hours and hours’ worth of Pokémon Sword!
Yes, I can’t help but get a slight tingle of excitement each time a new generation appears - I can only blame my younger self for that - so I’ll be exploring Galar with my super-sad and super-sweet Sobble. I’ve been looking forward to this moment for a while, finally being able to stick the game in, turn off the internet, and blissfully ignore the hate. Ah, lovely.
Liam Doolan, news reporter
At the time of writing, I'm currently 10 hours into my Galar region adventure. I've caught 76 Pokémon and obtained three badges. I went with a digital version of Pokémon Shield in the end, but I'll probably end up purchasing a physical copy of Pokémon Sword later down the line.
My party at the moment is comprised of the fire starter's third evolution Cinderace, the special Let's Go Pikachu, the water-rock type Drednaw, the Generation IV pocket monster Skorupi, the flying-type Corvisquire, and the sad-looking snake Pokemon, Silicobra. My plan for the rest of the weekend is to defeat all of the Gym Leaders and explore as much of the game as I possibly can. Wish me luck!

No prizes for guessing what I'll be up to over the weekend. Yes, I will be diving into the Galar region along with approximately 28% of the planet. After a quick check as to who was getting which version, I went with Pokémon Sword.
After having a soft spot for Grookey for months and months, the moment came to pick my starter and who did I pick? That's right - Sobble. That gormless tadpole face somehow worked its magic and made me ditch the monkey. Shocker. Let's hope he's handier in battle than he looks.

I have no clue what I am doing so along with DAEMON X MACHINA, Astral Chain (of course!) and River City Girls I picked up both Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield after reading Alex’s review and hope to explore the former. I will also try to pretend that there isn’t (yet again!) another huge Star Wars game release not coming to Switch and replay a bit of Star Wars Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader on the ol’ trusty GameCube. Stay on target!
Game of the Week is the hilarious stealth release The Stretchers. I can’t remember the last time I had so much fun with a rag doll physics-heavy game, a stellar effort from Tarsier Studios and Nintendo.

This weekend, I’m not really sure what to play. I heard something about a game called “Poke-Mans”, which sounds terrible. I detest the idea of collecting adorable creatures and exploring a world with them. So, seeing as nothing fun has come out recently, and I’ve pretty much cleared my entire backlog of games out of sheer boredom, maybe I’ll give up video games and just watch TV, or go learn how to knit or something.
Zion Grassl, video producer
I’m out of town on vacation for the weekend, so I’m not sure how much game time I’ll be able to sneak in, but lemme tell ya, this month is making it extremely hard to ignore my Switch. On the drive to our destination I finished collecting all of the pages in New Super Lucky’s Tale (which was an absolute delight from beginning to end) which then caused me to last minute purchase Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair! I just can’t get enough of the puns.
I’m also currently downloading Pokemon Sword (goodbye free time) so I’ll have plenty of things to play for the drive home! Can’t wait to hang with my boy, Scorbunny!
As always, thanks for reading! Make sure to leave a vote in the poll above and a comment below with your gaming choices over the next few days...

Finished the single player in Pokemon Sword (which was really terrible) so now I can get back to mostly playing Groove Coaster (which is super fun). Will get back to Atelier Ryza sometime soon too.
Still waiting for Pokémon to be delivered so.. downloaded Moonlighter which is half price at the moment and playing that instead.
Smash Ultimate this week. I recently got back into World of Light and it's really good!
There's been yet another free update for Dead Cells, so I will be checking that out. Dead Cells is keeping me away from Luigi, though, so I will try to fit in a floor or two of that as well! Have a lovely weekend everyone!
This week I will be mostly playing
Breath of the Wild (187 seeds to go)
Pokémon Platinum, Diamond & Pearl
Pokemon Shield mostly with a bit of Skyrim too.
Finally to to play my copy of Luigi's Mansion 3 this weekend!! Looking forward to it. I also still need to play Doom 3 which I got a while back....
I played Pokemon Let's Go this morning to prepare myself before getting Pokemon Sword.
I have reached Lavender Town and will beat the 4th Gym Leader.
I still have to manage my time between drawing my sketches and playing video games this Saturday so i will play handheld games as possible.
Pokemon Sword and The Witcher for me. The weather's nice so I may go out later and take some photos while I can.
Full on Witcher 3 marathon today, day off, empty house... bring it on.
I’ll be splitting my time between Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and DQXIS. I’m not expecting much gaming time, though, so doubt I’ll achieve much in either.
Well, since Amazon didn't send it in time, I'm not playing Pokemon. Probably some Death Stranding or Final Fantasy IX instead.
I play Shield when I can. I'm loving it! I only play a Pokemon game every 4 years or so (lack of time) but enjoying this.
Got Mario + Rabbids Gold edition for 25,- so that's what I'll be playing. Oh and also some hilarious online Human Fall Flat sessions.
Atelier Ryza, more Smash Ultimate, and will probably put a bow on my Bayonetta 2 playthrough, near the end.
Since I ended properly DQXI, I'll start my Pokémon Sword copy. Just in time!
Asphalt legends and groove coaster for me.
Warframe might be redundant to keep mentioning, at least until I farm the Nightwave's frame slot (or until The Old Blood update becomes another corrupted installation in my case - it was ironic for me to read how the devs opted for a size-increasing patch because they didn't want Switch users to redownload the whole game otherwise 😅). So... Bloodstained, Diabolical Box, Dual Destinies, The World Next Door - in whatever proportion I will realistically manage. I'm more than used to jinxing my own comments on this regard.
Picked up Garou Mark of the Wolves and having a great time with it! But having Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC leaves little time for anything else!
First of all I hope everyone get too enjoy the weekend with lots of love!
Besides that im going to be busy with
Kamiko
New super lucky tale
Super smash bros ultimate ( training villager)
And some Gleaner Heigts (underated game)
Have a good one!
@SoapMonkey
Thinking about getting the game. Still easy to find online seasons?
Well... I took the dive and traded in New Super Mario Bros. U for Pokemon Sword. Never played a Pokemon before. I think it will be an interesting weekend!
Back to more Three Houses, the game becomes a lot better when you only have to visit the monastery once a month. Also some Halo 5 as it's one of the few XB1 games that don't take like an hour to load after yesterday's system update.
Playing with sword, i mean the real sword before you all start thinking it's pokémon sword!! Anyway my daughter is playing that now.
Tons and tons of Pokemon man. Great game! Clearly not for everyone, but try it yourself before you judge please. There's so much toxicity online both for and against, that you really just need to make up your own mind.
I disagree hard with a lot of people on the game, but I can at least respect those who gave the game a chance and decided they didn't like it.
I reeeally need to get out the wild area and actually get my first gym badge. 😅
@Galenmereth
Have we been playing the same game? ☺️
The usual - Slay the spire, Isaac, Rocket League... But I’m also in the mood for getting back to things I’ve started and actually finish them
I have 6/8 melodies in EarthBound so I'll probably be nearing the end this weekend.
That makes me a little sad, even with no nostalgia for it, it's shaping up to be one of my favourite games.
I've been reading this website for so long. Like, a really, really long time. And I love each and every one of you from the bottom of my heart. But, this is one time in all these years I have ever felt compelled to say...what the f$#% do you think we're playing?
@SoapMonkey M+R is awsome. Enjoy!
Finally going to finish off Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 story mode after deleting my game save. Then I have to run through Curse of the Vampire before the next dlc hits. I've certainly got my money's worth out of this game so far.
Aside from that I'll be playing a few rounds in Thrill of the Fight on the Quest. That game can seriously get you fit.
Get some more lap times on Virtua racing!
Finish Sniper elite 3!
Finish links awakening final boss!
Pokémon Shield and may try to finish Link's Awakening as I've only got 2 instruments left.
Shield is OK so far, nothing too different to previous generations. I enjoyed Sun and I can see a lot of similarities already in style (personally was great getting away from HMs).
At the end of the day it's a Pokémon game so it isn't exactly going to be groundbreaking, but is good fun!
Will be digging in to a few more floors of Luigis Mansion(trying to take my time and explore instead of blasting through it) bit of Pokemon sword and then whatever takes my fancy. Really want to get back to witcher 3 on the ps4 but everytime I load it up I cant be arsed to play it.
Pokémon.
Can't say I've ever had 50 Pokémon caught before even entering the first gym. Pretty awesome for someone who focuses on catching and training Pokémon. Really enjoying the game.
At the same time, I'm a bit worried about the amount of exp you get and how quickly the wild Pokémon levels go up. I like training my Pokémon and seeing them grow. I don't want to catch Pokémon just to have them evolve after getting a level or two. Most Pokémon evolve before reaching Lv. 40 and my Pokémon are already Lv. 15 and up. Pacing might become an issue later.
@Nic-Noc20th-C Asphalt 9 for me too! Arcade racing at its finest!
More pokemon sword for me until the battery dies, then whilst it charges again il try to wrap up borderlands 3 and start stars wars fallen order
Pokémon Sword, maybe some Celeste, Witcher 3 and Ni No Kuni.
I just beat Diddy Kong Racing's Adventure Mode and unlocked all the characters. I won't have much time to play today, between getting a new phone, grocery shopping, and general adulting, but I imported Okami HD, which will arrive tomorrow, probably in the afternoon.
Skyrim! I’m finally powerful enough to not be mauled or hacked down wherever I go. Oh boy, what a game! (Can you tell it’s my first playthrough?) Have a great weekend everybody!
Nearly finishing luigis mansion 3.
Mario kart tour
Unfortunately, I won't have time to play much, but I might finally get around to some side missions in Daemon x Machina I've been meaning to finish. Otherwise, it's just periodically checking in on my apple tree for Kirby Super Clash.
Still Borderlands 3 and Indivisible on PS4 for me. I did happen to buy the first Yooka Laylee on sale yesterday for 66% off or something. It came to less than $20 Canadian. I'm also going to put a little more time into the DQXI demo if I can. I gave up on it before after less than an hour but I'm not sure if I gave it enough of a chance. It's been going a bit better this time.
Other than that, the best thing that's been happening gaming-wise for me is that my 5 year old daughter has FINALLY gotten into playing a game with me - Super Smash Bros Ultimate. Not a bad choice for her very first one, and she absolutely loves it and asks to play with me every day. Shes a really good sport about it, and tries out every character and stage. Apparently, one of her favorite characters is Terry Bogard. That's my kid! Haha.
@Kidfunkadelic83 Thanks man! Enjoying it a lot so far! Can't get Luigi's mansion yet because of the pricetag so this is a perfect alternative
More trials of mana, divinity original sin 2, with the occasional smash bros for me.
Pokemon Shield and maybe some Luigi's Mansion 3.
@Grumblevolcano The Monastery is the worst part of the game for me. Stopped midway through my 3rd playthrough because of it. Why must part 1 be sooooo long?
I'll probably jump back into it on Maddening when I eventually start itching for more tactical rpg game play and after all the dlc has dropped for the expansion pass.
@DenDen Not sure what you mean with online seasons. I got the gold edition which includes every dlc ever released, also a season pass which I'm not sure what that means 😅 Though so far it seems pretty packed and I truly recommend the game. There's a lot of love put into this game
Shield. Now, back to the story . . .
Shield. My son's first Pokemon game and we're having a great time.
My quest through my backlog continues. I finished all the amiibo challenges in Splatoon 1 this week, so in my mind that game is now at 100% completion. I also intend to play a bit more of Need for Speed Hot Pursuit, as the recent release has got me back in the mood for decent arcade racing. I started The Last of Us multiplayer last night, and it's excellent. Very different to other shooters. I'm weighing up my options for my next Switch purchase, but I think I'll leave my first ever Pokemon game for the inevitable Ultra re-release next year and instead get Luigi's Mansion 3 or Link's Awakening.
Still DQ XI for me. 97 hours in and enjoying the post-game.
You're all grounded with no video games this weekend. How about them apples?
I'll be playing Star Wars, Pokemon and minecraft. Yahoo!
Pokemon Shield. I'm blown away so far by how good it is. Probably been my most anticipated release of the year and it hasn't disappointed yet. This is my third Pokemon game after Let's Go Eevee and Ultra Sun (which I'm still finishing up). I can't see myself playing anything else on Switch for quite some time (going back to Xenoblade 3D once I've finished Ultra Sun).
Besides Shield, I just got a PS TV in the post from cex (which I'm yet to open up). I'll be loading up Persona 4 Golden and Xenogears on there.
Super Mario odyssey collecting the final moons. Master piece of a game
@BenAV you can’t be serious it’s just come out!
Digimon Cyber Sleuth.
Pokémon Shield! Having a great time. So far the only big stain on the experience is the exp. share.
Finished luigis mansion 3 the other day, so I've been focusing heavily on resident evil 4. About 11.5 hours in so Im pretty close to the credits I feel. Also, which im happy to say, I've been getting back into smash after a long hiatus. It Was far too long. Played a few Pokemon tourneys to celebrate sw/sh even though i don't have either game 😁. Finally, some Lion King and again, getting back into Mario Maker 2. Been some really good gaming lately ..
I’ve had hardly any gaming time lately but I’ll be dropping into Witcher 3 to do a few quests as and when I have time tomorrow.
Gonna try a bit of Pokémon, but because of Ring Fit Adventure my backlog is growing SO FAST.
That things is eating up my playing time almost completely. It's so DAMN good.
@sandman89 It's a short game. Took under 14 hours without rushing it.
Pokemon Sword. Enjoying it so far, but I am starting to get worried about the content. I spent a good hour or two exploring the Wild Area before continuing to the first gym and I feel like I've experienced about half of what it has to offer already. Not a good sign.
Overwatch with friends, but first: Pokémon Sword.
@SoapMonkey Luigis is also a great game. I've had fun with it so far but I think you could get through it pretty fast if you didnt bother to take in the great scenery. Add me up if you like. Always a pleasure to have friendly people on my list.
7382-9625-0802
Need for Speed: Most Wanted (Vita) - I just got back into this and wondering why I quit in the first place. What a game! This is still impressive to play today.
FIFA 15 Ultimate Team (Windows Phone) - Quick games and more quick games.
3D Brick Breaker Revolution (Windows Phone) - Great for toilet time or while cooking etc.
I am still loving New Super Lucky’s Tale! I think I’ll even have it finished this weekend. The characters in that game don’t get enough credit for their charm. My favorite being the puzzle construction worker!
Also finally at the home stretch of Dragon Quest 11. I see where it gets better as it goes, I just don’t know if it made up for my disappointment with the middle yet. Time will tell!
Civ VI: playing the Khmer, aiming for cultural victory. Got a message about 20 turns ago that my victory was imminent, but now I'm at war with Alexander which is really slowing things down.
Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz: I don't even know where I am with this as my kid hijacked the game the day I bought it. Probably going to start over on my own account now.
Link's Awakening: gotta get back to this. First day I had it, I got stuck on the very first dungeon boss. Yes, I am total n00b. You may scorn me now.
Witcher 3 and Graveyard Keeper.
Luigi’s Mansion allllllllllllll weekend! I’ll mix in a little Yooka-Laylee for sure but You can find me in the Mansion sucking up Ghosts for the most part.
Just finished Jedi order for PS4. 7 out of 10 for me.the game does pretty much everything good, but nothing outstanding, worth a play though. Think I will restart Luigi 3 now have a great weekend x x x
Pretty much just Pokemon Sword. I'm about halfway through, it's decent so far, but nothing mindblowing. I'm aiming to finish it this weekend.
Pokémon. Having a lot of fun in the wild area...
That sounds like a euphemism.
Not going to have a ton of time for games but it’ll all be spent with Pokémon Shield. Only about 45 minutes in and enjoying it so far.
Finished Luigi's mansion during the week (can't say I am a big fan of puzzles games and I rushed through it a bit to get on other stuff) and bought Witcher.
I am liking it so far, the graphics are quite jarring at start but I got use to it fairly quickly (and for me same t looks way better on TV than handheld), the gameplay is far from amazing but I am enjoying the story.
Crisis Core on my phone
I'll try to put more time into Luigi's Mansion 3 this weekend. I've recently been playing Newer Super Mario Bros. Wii, as well, so I'll probably play that one too. Yeah, the latter is a full-on mod for NSMBW, but it's a great one! I love a good Mario game...even if Nintendo had nothing to do with it
Playing super smash ultimate
Some Luigi’s Mansion 3, Pokémon Sword and Tetris99 for me!
So far played Asphalt 9 on Switch today, and Sonic Heroes for a bit on GameCube. Not sure if I'll play anything else as I have some things that need to get done, did have some fun this morning with these two.
On my daughter's recommendation (she's 11), I finally started playing through Ever Oasis this week. This game has it's hooks in me for sure. What a wonderful game that is so much more than the sum of it's parts. Definitely becoming one of my favorite 3ds games.
Hoping to finish Octopath this weekend! Also really enjoying Garou Mark of the Wolves and some KoF
Zanki Zero...an absolute mad gem of a game by the team that made the Danganronpa series.Can't.stop.playing..
Enjoy your weekend all.
@Kidfunkadelic83 friend request sent
I’m downloading Pokemon Shield now,but I got a RG 350 handheld for my birthday. Preloaded with 16000 games. Ps1 on down. I am a kid in a candy store.
@JasmineDragon that’s real life though. I always thought the first boss was at harder than any other boss until maybe the 6th dungeon. Especially only having 3 or 4 hearts.
I decided to fight King Boo in LM3 but I didn’t realize that I would be unable to go back and get more Boos and hidden things 😓
I just received my new Xbox so I’ve been playing Creature in the Well ( Gamepass!) and I’ll start A Plague Tale: Innocence.
On the Switch front I’ll be playing Piczle Lines (still) and probably start Cuphead since I’ve decided to wait on picking up Shield.
@JasmineDragon I had Civ upon release and liked it apart from not having an absolute clue what I was doing. I didn't get very far and ended up selling it. Really wish I understood it tho as I thought it was alright actually.
@NintendoByNature
Wich version of lion king are you playing?
@DenDen super Nintendo. Honestly it's just ok.
@Kidfunkadelic83 It can be very overwhelming, for sure. I've been playing Civilization games since the Nineties and it can still surprise me.
If you ever feel like giving it another shot, my advice is always to start on the lowest difficulty with a tiny world and just do what your advisors tell you for the first few games. Jump into the advisor screens, and it actually does a good job explaining what needs to be done. It takes a lot of playing to really master all its systems, though.
I did end up getting my culture win just now. Such a satisfying feeling!
I picked up Sword & Shield its my 1st Pokemon since SoulSilver. Also playing New Super Lucky’s Tale & Grid Autosport.
Picked up Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and will be hoping to get some significant time into that. First time I've been legit hyped for something Star Wars related since Revenge of the Sith originally hit theatres.
@BenAV 😱no way
I sat down and replayed Castlevania Aria of Sorrow for the first time in over a decade (once on normal, once on hard and once on Julius mode), so I can now finally say that I have no regrets once my GB Player equipped GC finally dies on me.
I was curious to see how my impressions of the game would change now that I have experienced the games that came before it. I'd still say that I prefer it over Symphony, but not for the reasons that I expected.
In my mind, I remember Aria being great because of your customizable movesets, but I've come to realize that a lot of souls just aren't that practical, especially when compared against those that actually are. That said, those that aren''t at least makes up for it with their comedic touches, so the mechanic has plenty of charm. No, what really impressed me with Aria was how it essentially feels like the Chrono Trigger of Metroidvanias in that it's a very short and concise journey that doesn't pad itself out even when you're going for full map completion (souls are another matter, unfortunately). My last playthrough of Symphony where I was going by my childhood memory of the game took me around 8 hours while going for the best ending. Aria only took 3, and that's with 100% map completion. Julius mode took me under an hour even though I went after every boss. Thing is, I was never bored or felt like I weren't making meaningful progress. And as a grown man, I love games that can offer that kind of short yet satisfying experience.
@JasmineDragon I have been looking to pick it up again tho so I may grab it when I see it cheap. Can you play couch head to head on it? Or is it online only?
I'm playing Pokemon Sword.
This is a fun game, unpolished but fun. Sometimes is hard to overlook the rough edges... I just wish this game was more on par with all the other first-party titles. The animations are clunky for the characters/NPC/ Pokemon, it could be better. With all the money Gamefreak makes, is hard to overlook all this.
But yeah, Pokemon players can have some fun with this game.
One thing that bothers me is how every single Pokemon/NPC keeps disappearing and popping up one after another, for no reason. Some "cutscenes/animations" are poorly made, there are some videos on youtube highlighting these bugs as something funny, but I find them pretty annoying considering how much I paid for the game.
My favorite part about Pokemon Sword: The character designs. They are simply amazing. The NPCs and the Gym leaders
Almost done Link's Awakening so I'll be playing that 🙃
1. Jedi Fallen Order (finally a good StarWars game!)
2. Death Standing (maybe)
3. Luigi Mansion 3 (but want to keep that for my commute)
4. F1 2019 (Brazil GP this weekend)
Need to wait on GameFly for Pokemon. I put Ryza for Switch on the Q also last night (ok if I get that instead)... but I have Outer Worlds and Cold Steel 3 as RPGs already that I need to finish. So they can take their time.
So many great games... Good times 👍
I am not playing pokeman.
Grabbed Pokemon Shield, and my friend just happened to finally grab a Switch and picked up Sword. I didn't recommend it since he wasn't too into Moon, but he's been having a blast (he currently loves to hate Bede, lol). A bit busy this weekend, but I'll be sure to at least start it out. It's been years since I played Pokemon, and I never got around to getting Let's Go. Hopefully I can at least finish the main campaign before I get distracted again.
Ended up grabbing a digital copy of sword today when I didn't really have any intention of doing so. Figured it could be me and my daughters first Pokemon experience together.
Been playing xenoblade 2 recently and I love it so much. Its definitely one of my favorite games on the switch. Im currently 45 hours in on chapter 8 so Im getting closer and closer to the end. Also smash brothers
So much Pokemon this weekend, between the release of Gen 8 (Pokemon Shield), and of course the Pokemon Go Chimchar community day event (only four shiny, but better then nothing).
@SoapMonkey
Sorry ment it for human fall flat
If the online is stil doing fine
Definitely not Pokémon Sword and Shield. jk I am at work
Just finished Uncharted 4. Just started Mega Man 11 and Wargroove.
@DenDen There is still enough people playing the game online, BUT, it doesnt have the best connection. Many times I lose connection to a game or there is lag in controls which makes it impossible to play sometimes. But then again it's easy to jump into a new game and when the connection is good it's a lot of fun. It's fun to help each other out or just get in each others way. Single player on the other hand isnt that worthwhile but I think for the discounted price it is now it's a nice little game to pick up now and then. Wouldnt buy it full price though.
Switcher 3, of course.
Still.
I’m playing Pokémon shield. Fun game, the graphics are Effin horrendous though.
Just started Luigi's Mansion. Started out pretty slow and was wondering what all the fuss was about. Now I'm starting to get it.
Going to have to restart Hollow Knight. Are my old saves on the cloud? New switch...
Pokemon Sword and Shield ( excellent games IMO), Luigis Mansion 3 and Ys VIII, the latter of which I'm playing through for the second time. I'm also taking time out from gaming to amuse myself by reading all the crybaby comments about Pokemon Sw/ Sh 🤣
I am playing the New Battlefield game Modern Warfare rebooted, Luigi's mansion, Ni Nu kuni and some more Link's awakening. I can only play each game an hour at a time so I will be playing these games for a long time. I have an insane back log to still get to.
Almost done Luigi's Mansion 3.
Been playing Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair! Trying to finish that off, before I move on to something else.
Yooka Laylee and The Impossible lair again! It is so incredibly good. The music/gameplay is some of the best i have experienced in a long time. It brings such joy to my heart.
Mostly just Tetris 99! Have a new puppy and my daughter had a test this weekend so we’ve been really busy... I’m gonna get DOOM 3 sooner rather than later thanks to the enthusiasm of one my favourite N’lifers, @OorWullie. My son downloaded Pokémon Quest because of the Sword/Shield hype, he’s really enjoying it, so I’ve encouraged him to check out the demo for Let’s Go, maybe there’s a Pokéfan just waiting to come out! Enjoy the rest of the weekend everyone. Do what you love, and enjoy it.
Arms, only Arms! Still bouncing 😄
Dragon quest xis on act 3 just gone past 70 hours. Ticking off quests in Tockington currently
Plugging away at Luigi's Mansion 3, mostly, with some Mario Maker 2 sprinkled on here and there.
Death Stranding. This game is probably going to take me a few months.
Nothing this weekend, I felt after finishing Dragon Quest XI S last weekend I needed a lil break.
I got around to trying out Azure Striker Gunvolt 2. The original had a neat twist that made it a lot of fun, but it didn't really feel like something you could build an entire franchise on given that the appeal of an action game with a super high focus on building your high-score is kind of niche these days. Imagine my surprise when I instantly fell in love the moment I gained control of the previously extremely unlikable Copen.
Like, wow! This was such an unexpectedly great sequel. The original had an unique score-focused hook that made it stand out if you gave it a chance, but the refined difficulty balance all across the board combined with Copen's amazingly kinetic high-flying combat style that manages to capture the high-speed action of the Mega Man Zero series in a way that GV's own slower, more calculated gameplay system couldn't while still keeping the kind of unique score-based approach that made the original stand out... It just completely caught me off guard.
I beat Collection of Mana: Trials of Mana so it's on to my next game for next weekend.
I’ll be playing Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order all week!
