Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Bionic Commando (NES)

HotGoomba

Wow, that European one is awful. The American and Japanese ones looks good though.

Also, why does the big bad on the Japanese box art look like that one Austrian painter with the ugly mustache?

Edit: Wait that is him???? HUH?????

Re: Switch 2 Black Friday Deals Are A Bit 'Meh', But Here Are The Best We've Seen

HotGoomba

I was genuinely surprised when I saw how low the game prices so low so early in this console's life.

Then I realized the one thing that, save Story of Seasons, all of these games have in common. They're all game key cards, or worse, download codes.

I mean, a deal's a deal, I'm not at all saying not to buy these. I honestly might. But, nudge nudge, might show how game key cards aren't exactly flying off of shelves, especially at full price.

Re: Poll: So, Will You Be Getting Kirby Air Riders?

HotGoomba

@benmalsky198 Only reasons I'm not immediately getting Air Riders is that I don't own a Switch 2, I haven't played the demo, and I don't want to buy the game before knowing that I like it first, or at least after I get bored of whatever games I get first.

Re: Poll: So, Will You Be Getting Kirby Air Riders?

@Aswannsong Look, I love Kirby (although I might not get Air Riders anytime soon), the series holds a really special place in my heart, but I really respect the hater energy that you've got against it. I wish I could be as passionate at despising something badly as you do Kirby. HotGoomba approves.

Re: Best Nintendo Switch Remakes And Remasters

HotGoomba

@fenlix Three years later and I'm still getting flak for that comment lmao. My opinions have shifted since then, although I still think that port is pretty mediocre, and I do agree that it shouldn't have the respect of being called a remaster lmao

Re: Miyamoto Views Games As 'Products', Not 'Works Of Art', Says Ex-Nintendo Dev

HotGoomba

I think people are misinterpreting this quote. It's not saying that games aren't seen as "art", but rather that the prospect of making an art piece shouldn't get in the way of a product.

If you ask me, I think anything and everything can be art, including video games. Never understood why video games always had a hard time being considered art, especially since they're a mixture of many other mediums, like design, music, modeling, etc.

I think that all music, films, games, so on so forth are art, even if it's bad or corporate, because traditional art, digital art, sketching, and sculpturing can be bad and corporate as well. Art is art.

Re: Review: Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour - Surprising, Delightful, And You Know Where It Belongs

HotGoomba

Honestly, I can't really see this as anything more than "neat". Not bad, not poorly valued, just neat.
If this was a pack-in, even if it's no Astro's Playroom, it would've been very neat. But the fact that it's $10 separately makes me just prefer getting another $10 game, especially one with more replay value. I'm not saying that this isn't worth $10, but it's not gonna be everyone's first option.

But hey, at least Nintendo has a title to nudge into Black Friday sales for the Switch 2. I can't wait to see kids' excitement over getting a tour guide for Christmas.

Re: Two Brand New LEGO Games Are Coming To Nintendo Switch This Year

HotGoomba

@SwitchplayerJohn Neither of the Lego games announced today are in-house.

Lego Voyagers is developed by Light Brick Studio, an independent developer for Lego-themed games, and published by Annapurna Interactive.

Lego Party is developed by SMG Studios, the independent developer of Moving Out and Death Squared, and will be published by a company named "Fictions" (Fictions might be the successor to Private Division, but I don't think that's been fully confirmed yet).

Additionally, TT Games is still open, and is infact hiring. Of course, this could change with how unpredictable Warner Bros Discovery is at the moment, but for now, they're open, likely developing a project right now, and I don't think it's wild to predict that it's a Lego game.

If anything, Lego has been more open to external developers and publishers. Even if they go fully through with their in-house Lego games, they're not getting rid of third-party Lego games.

Re: Civilization VII Looks Like A Massive Step Up On Switch 2

HotGoomba

I find it funny that it's cheaper to get the physical version of Civilization VII on Switch 1, then get the Switch 2 upgrade separately, compared to getting the more expensive and objectively worse code-in-a-box Switch 2 copy.

Why even release a physical version on Switch 2? It's not even a key card. At least with that, it's tangible, it has more worth than a damn sheet of paper with a digital code.

Re: Nintendo Apologises For "Error" With Mention Of Switch 2 VRR TV Support

HotGoomba

I really don't like how Nintendo Life keeps reposting this article. This is probably the third time I've gotten a bunch of replies from this one article, and it's wild. We don't need the same article to be updated three times.

@Lofoten I know that the Wii U was the most powerful console for about a year. I also know that everything else about the console was so botched that everyone barely noticed.

@Misima No, I'm not surprised. I know why Nintendo barely focused on power for the longest time. It's just nice to see a Nintendo console not be incredibly behind the competition for once.

@Rukasumi Yeah, it really didn't age well. At least we have confirmation though.
