Re: Talking Point: Switch Is Nintendo's "Main Business" Right Now, But All Eyes Are On The Horizon

HotGoomba

Everyone's talking about how powerful the next Nintendo console is gonna be. But I'm just here wondering what its gimmick will be. It almost certainly isn't just hybrid play again. And I don't mean that as they won't have it, but rather it won't be the main selling point.

Remember, this is the Virtual Boy company we're talking about, they're gonna do some crazy s--t. On whether that crazy s--t will be the next DS or the next Wii U...we'll see.

Re: Square Enix Has Absorbed 'I Am Setsuna' Developer Tokyo RPG Factory

HotGoomba

It was a small team and their output was pretty small. These kind of games will probably continue to be made within Square, and if anything their output should speed up because they will probably have a bigger team in a sense now.

The Tokyo RPG Factory name is gone, but not the soul, so I don't mind this to much. Heard their games were average, but they have an audience and I can't see Square completely abandoning that audience, even with how disorganized the company is.

Re: Random: Sorry, The Sims 4 Isn't Actually Coming To Switch

HotGoomba

The Sims running on a portable sounds simultaneously amazing and painful. Also the Sims 4 probably wouldn't run well on Switch.
I think a Sims game specifically for Switch would work better, or waiting for the next Nintendo console to shove their $50 add-ons down our throats.

Re: 3DS Emulator Citra Is Coming To Meta Quest Next Week

HotGoomba

@sanderev
1. Meta has nothing to do with this emulator. It's just being unofficially ported to their platform. Nintendo will not sue Meta, like how they won't sue Microsoft or Google Android.

2. I don't even think Nintendo can sue the actual emulator. Sure, they can prohibit them from being hosted on large storefronts like Steam, but them using Citra is unlikely at best.

3. Emulators aren't even bad, they help preserve games that would otherwise be lost to time if they weren't ported to other platforms. It's not like Nintendo's making much money from the 3DS anymore.

Re: Video: Digital Foundry's Technical Analysis Of Prince Of Persia: The Lost Crown On Switch

@Znake I have. Great game. Don't see how Prince of Persia and Dread having similar gameplay means that they're using the same engine, or that it's just a replica of Metroid Dread. That's like saying that Castlevania games are just copies of Metroid games because they're both Metroidvanias.

I don't even think MercurySteam, the developers of Dread, has a real reason to give Ubisoft their engine for their game. In fact, allegedly Persia is using Unity as it's engine (Surprised it's not Ubiart to be honest).
