Re: Poll: Will You Be Getting The New Joy-Con 2 Set?

Galaxy2IsTheGOAT

Nintendo loves pastels. I like that they are keeping the black with color trim theme to distinguish Switch2 from 1 joycon. I’m sure a few years from now they will be doing full color, two color, and would be awesome to do three color (joystick trim, plastic inner trim, main exterior). Joycon for life! Pro is good for specific games but 90% of the time I use joy cons. Arms comfortably and naturally rested on my armchairs instead of “holding up” one big remote with both hands. GameCube controller is pinnacle and Wii/nunchuck and joycons are revolutionary.

Also, what is the difference between choices maybe, thinking about it, and not sure?

They are getting into the vape market. Puff Puff Vapes!

I’m currently playing Dragon Quest 11S yada yada. First DQ game I’ve ever played. Actually I just finally rolled credits the other day. Thought it was a very good game. But lagged a bit in the middle and very long. Of course there seems to be a lot more. The completionist in me annoys me sometimes. Because I want to move on, but it seems I may only be just starting a Third Act now…

I should probably play this postgame stuff, you guys think? I will say I was plenty satisfied with the way everything wrapped up with the credits roll ending. I just could never find a bunny suit nor the universal key. So maybe I will find those at least.

Sorry to hear about your fan. I noticed back when I played Luigi Mansion 3 mine would occasionally make noise. But it would stop after reset and thankfully hasn’t happened again for a few years now. I wonder if Luigi Mansion 3 was just too pretty and thus taxing.

My original joycon have zero rubber left on the sticks. Their battery life is much decreased. They have always had moments of phantom input or unresponsiveness. Not sure if that is considered “drift” though. I still use them while my newer pair charge.

Thank goodness the Switch 2 is backwards compatible or I’d be so worried about playing my Switch library down the road (almost all physical) that I would be tempted to buy a Switch 1 just to keep on reserve. I also like that they have seemed to have most major titles working on Switch 2

For me personally, this piece didn’t age well. I just loaded up on 15 new Switch 1 games and got a new pair of joycon (blue and neon yellow, soooo nice) for my Switch 1. I will be backlogging Switch 1 all 2026 just like I did in 2025 and I’m super excited.

Switch 1 for life! Best console ever! I don’t think I will really “switch” over to 2 full time until AT LEAST 2027. Even then what has been announced? First party wise?

Played it last year and loved it. But for me it’s a game I don’t think I will ever play again. But I’m that way for most games. With so many to play I take in a game as much as I can, only play 1 game at a time, and to completion. I will listen to the soundtrack in the future though to take me back. Game deserves its success. Will buy Haunted Chocolatier day 1.

Re: Talking Point: Does It Bother You That Big Games Companies Are Using GenAI?

Galaxy2IsTheGOAT

It bothers me that game creators have gotten just as bland and out of ideas as AI. I was thinking back to how innovative EVERY major franchise was on GameCube. New IPs like Luigi Mansion and Pikmin. Mario with the hover pack. Zelda cell shaded and sailing. Metroid to 3D.

Now it feels like games have changed as much in 30 years as they did in 1 year back then. Everything that comes out and gets hype or wins GOTY has been done before

Still chipping away at Dragon Quest XI S but starting to feel ready to finish and move on. I can see why it got high scores. It definitely fixes/gets right most of the things that can turn me off RPGs. Feels like a culmination of classic RPGs. I like that the story is pretty easy to follow and not going off the rails into convoluted quantum space time theory or whatever. I liked the “dungeon” type areas where you have to fight through to a boss. But now I’m at a stage where it’s just travel here then here and watch cutscene after cutscene.

Not a big rpg fan but ended up playing a lot this past year. Favorite was XCX Remaster. Probably my favorite of the 4 Xenoblades. Second was Mario TYD Remaster. Despite the hand holding and being way too long, Brothership was third best I played. Right now I’d put Dragon Quest XI right around Brothership but I’m hopeful it finishes strong and will rank above Brothership.

Great idea. 20 year anniversary of the Wii next year. But probably too soon. I could see Wii on NSO after they focus on getting a few more of their big IP games released. Going all in on the VirtualBoy unit has me hopeful they will do right by Wii pointer controls. I’d probably boycott NSO if they try to half-blank it and just release a wiimote nunchuck that use the switch gyro tech

I agree about image quality. And even moreso for me, are the Wii pointer controls and flick of the wiimote to spin. I just can’t play these games on anything but Wii. My physical copy of these games on Switch will stay sealed.

My hope is one day they “remastermake” these games to bring them into HD but also resolve the lack of accurate and stable pointer controls
