Hard to beat the OG. It just pops and even says “The Original.” Fusion is my next favorite, and Dread is my favorite game of them all but don’t really love its background. One EMMI would have been better.

Looks like they still see the appeal of releasing games for Switch 1 if the hardware boost isn’t necessary. I think they are wise to see this. Obviously they want to focus on and sell Switch 2’s, but they should not completely ignore the massive Switch 1 install base in a time where people are being outpriced of next gen

Open world could have worked even for a Metroidvania. I actually enjoyed the bike and desert, I thought it all had a memorable “feel” to it. The problem was that the “levels” on the edges of the desert and underground were just so basic and linear.

Imagine asking for a Switch 2 and getting an alarm clock or backpack instead

Odd to do this before any real substantial footage of the game, no? Hope it delivers in the end. Only Souls game I’ve played is DS Remastered on Switch and it kind of changed how I think of games, a memorable experience no doubt. Hopefully Switch 2 gets DS 2 and 3 and all the older games in the umbrella

It’s good that Switch 2 big selling point is backwards compatibility with Switch 1. This makes it very unlikely they ever release a revised version without a game card slot. I think the next gen Nintendo hardware will likely not have any kind of physical media slot though, agree with Ollie

I recall all these massive losers who stream video game content on YouTube endlessly crying and saying to boycott Nintendo over the Switch 2 launch. Somehow the algorithm kept throwing them at me. I’m sure they are silent and own a S2 now though.

@Toastmaster I’d love to see Nintendo have the Ace Combat team from Bandai Namco make a Star Fox game and take it off the rails.

I would have rather had a remake of SMW2 Yoshi Island or even a remaster of Yoshi Woolly World than the new Yoshi Storybook game. That’s one good thing about remakes is the original games are usually guaranteed great games, with less hand-holding like the old days. I never played Woolly World and it’s on my list but I know as soon as I buy a copy for my WiiU they will announce the Switch version. Seems like every other WiiU mainline IP game got a Switch remaster.

I don’t really like Lego sets with stickers or printed art pieces. I get why they need them for a set like this if it isn’t going to be very big. Also never really played the original DK Arcade game

I’m a bigger fan of quality over quantity. I had both 64 and PS1. I played 64 way more. Mario and Zelda and MK and goldeneye and Mario Party with friends. Only game that stood out to me playing on PS1 was FFVII

I had both a GameCube and PS2. I literally put my PS2 away after a year or two. GameCube my favorite console maybe. No doubt PS2 had infinite more games and sales.

It’s a shame hardware and tech prices skyrocketed and won’t come down. I would have definitely bought a second Switch mostly to keep mint/collector or if my first ever fails if they had reduced the price here at the end of its cycle

Don’t forget Nintendo just announced a huge investment into a new R&D building

The vitriol they received around the Switch 2 launch was overreaction and you can clearly see that the last month or two as most companies are de-investing/laying off, ending physical media, turning to AI, jacking up prices way more than $50, etc etc etc.

Nintendo just quietly doing what they always do which is focus on/respect true gaming moreso and better than all their rest

@johnedwin that’s because GameCube was better than PS2 and that was a Nintendo golden age where they were redefining all their top franchises, taking them into 3D, and being very creative and revolutionary

Great game, played it last year and it was the first ever DQ game I’ve played. But giant games that take 50+ hours, and especially big RPGs, I never plan to play again. I am definitely excited for the next game in the series and to play some of the older games in the series.

Most of us played a ton of DS and 3DS. I’m a big fan of the 3 Zelda games and Mario 3D Land. It will definitely be interesting to see how they handle the dual screen aspects. Some games really need that feature preserved somehow. But a game like 3D Land…. I don’t recall the touchscreen serving that important of a function.

Sometimes if I can’t decide I scroll past all options quickly to see which jumps out the most. Japan (apparently Korea I see from above) jumped out the most. Most colorful, but least cluttered.

@Misima yeah it just wasn’t a very fun or memorable power-up imo. Felt slow and cumbersome, didn’t help much with platforming. Just felt out of place for a Mario game overall

Proliferation of AI data centers and resources needed for the AI boom is why storage and hardware costs are skyrocketing. It’s why consoles are fading. It’s why game companies are laying off or going strictly digital. Basically it’s helping to kill video games as we have known them.

They received way too much heat over some things about Switch 2 launch. Most of it was just losers that already had it out for Nintendo for whatever reason.

They are only raising their hardware price $50. They may very well be the only ones making consoles and physical games very much sooner than later.

And it also looks like they might have a huge ace up their sleeve with a new 2D Metroid almost ready to go for the people complaining that there is no huge IP title for Switvh 2 yet. IMHO 2D Metroid is a top 3 Nintendo IP

I’m guessing 2 & 3 remasters. Hopefully they make a physical cartridge with the trilogy (and maybe even 4 on there, too). They know that lots of people who already bought MP1 remaster would still get the collection

Playing Skyrim for the first time right now. Pretty sure it’s the first Bethesda game I’ve ever played. I can tell that they/Elder Scrolls team just “get it.” Coming from a Nintendo guy, I’ve been impressed with a lot of detail/care that shows in Skyrim. There is a certain respect and reverence to classic video games that bleeds through the game I can’t quite describe. Hats off to Bethesda

Dread is my #1 Switch game. A game that good should always have a sequel. Don’t need to change the formula too much either.

Physical media is a good investment and store of value right now. These are its last days.

Never played a Splatoon game and I generally prefer one player experiences so I will likely play this one if reviews are solid

What is the reasoning behind Nintendo and others not revealing actual digital sales? They can easily track that more accurately than physical sales.
