I’ve played around 50 of the highest ranked games on Switch. Undertale is the only one that really disappointed me. Earthbound is one of my favorite games so I feel like I “got” what it was going for. But I just don’t get the hype at all.
I’m mostly interested to see how the pointer controls work
Collecting star bits and controlling yoshi’s tongue requires a good pointer. If you watch the trailer the pointer is often inactive and not collecting star bits. That is concerning to me. Whenever I want to replay a Galaxy game I do it on my WiiU
They could charge $500 for physical collector bundles and they would all sell out instantly.
At first I thought they are leaving lots of money on table with no physical option and cheap price point. But actually they are going to have a lot of people immediately buy digital, then also buy physical down the road. So it’s not a bad strategy
Great game but I’ve already played it. Wish they would stop wasting time and resources providing tiny graphical updates to games that are only a few years old
The Sakurai comment is funny. I’ve thought the same thing for years. Like people think he is the only guy in the world that works hard. They all have massive teams doing most of the work nowadays
Good soundtrack but so far it’s the only game I was really disappointed with that I’ve played on Switch. And I “get it” because Earthbound is one of my favorite games of all time. I understood what the game is going for. But I think it is a terrible game to be quite frank.
@andykara2003 to clarify, motion controls aren’t that bad for Switch. I really enjoyed slightly adjusting my bow n arrow shots in BoTW/ToTK using hybrid standard and motion controlling, for instance
It’s the POINTER controls I have a problem with. And that’s what the Galaxy games star-bit collecting mechanic used. Or say, World of Goo for instance. No secret if you read reviews of World of Goo where that lack of pointer-precision really took something away from the game.
The Switch joy con actually would be perfect for the Galaxy spin mechanic I assume. But Galaxy 2 requires you to collect a LOT of star bits and you would have to be constantly Re-calibrating your “pointer”
Galaxy games, especially Galaxy 2, really need the Wii motion pointer and Wii+nunchuck. I would never play Galaxy games on Switch as horrible as the motion controls are. They would need to adjust how many star bits are required to collect in Galaxy 2. I still think this is why they only released Galaxy 1.
64 and Sunshine were pretty fine to play with Switch controllers
You should be allowed to individually pay for and download to your console and play offline whenever you want with no expiration. I don’t know why they wouldn’t offer that and make more money
Why in the world would you buy a used/second hand Switch 2 this early in its life cycle? All but guaranteed to have some kind of issue, as that would be the only reason someone would sell theirs this early
Part of me says wait for second iteration, even if it’s 2-3 years away. My Switch 1 backlog has that much time if I try to complete it. But I mostly play in docked mode so the screen issue is not a big deal. Though I see what they are talking about pretty clearly, and I am the type that has a hard time differentiating frame rates and such. So I know it’s noticeable, and kind of a “once you see it” annoyance
I think and hope they go somewhere completely different with Mario. Since the Switch 2 is really just a Switch Pro and they didn’t get too inventive with the hardware this cycle, do it with Mario and Zelda
Also, hopefully they push the Switch 2 specs to the max with Mario. If that means it’s a few year off, fine. Mario Kart World was developed for Switch 1 originally.
Sounds like I’m the same age as Ollie. Got Gamecube when it released early in high school. Luigi Mansion is the game I played most at first. Wind Waker and Prime 1 probably my strongest memories. I will always say Gamecube is the best Nintendo console. But I’m partial. I will not waver on the FACT that the Gamecube controller is the best controller ever.

Just finished XCX. It’s probably my favorite Xenoblade Chronicles game. 2 and 3 kind of lost and bored me. But 1 and X are terrific games.

Ugh. Please, no. I hate DLC for anything. You had a decade to build this game. Just move onto 3 or another new game.

I don’t mind shorter games, and it really has little to do with how great a game is anyway
