Re: Super Mario 3D All-Stars Updated To Version 1.1.3, "Improves Gameplay" On Switch 2

Galaxy2IsTheGOAT

@andykara2003 to clarify, motion controls aren’t that bad for Switch. I really enjoyed slightly adjusting my bow n arrow shots in BoTW/ToTK using hybrid standard and motion controlling, for instance

It’s the POINTER controls I have a problem with. And that’s what the Galaxy games star-bit collecting mechanic used. Or say, World of Goo for instance. No secret if you read reviews of World of Goo where that lack of pointer-precision really took something away from the game.

The Switch joy con actually would be perfect for the Galaxy spin mechanic I assume. But Galaxy 2 requires you to collect a LOT of star bits and you would have to be constantly Re-calibrating your “pointer”

Re: Digital Foundry Is "Happy" With Switch 2 But Feels The Screen Is "Problematic"

Part of me says wait for second iteration, even if it’s 2-3 years away. My Switch 1 backlog has that much time if I try to complete it. But I mostly play in docked mode so the screen issue is not a big deal. Though I see what they are talking about pretty clearly, and I am the type that has a hard time differentiating frame rates and such. So I know it’s noticeable, and kind of a “once you see it” annoyance

Re: Former Nintendo Execs Fear We Might Be Waiting A While For A 3D Mario On Switch 2, Thanks To Donkey Kong

I think and hope they go somewhere completely different with Mario. Since the Switch 2 is really just a Switch Pro and they didn’t get too inventive with the hardware this cycle, do it with Mario and Zelda

Also, hopefully they push the Switch 2 specs to the max with Mario. If that means it’s a few year off, fine. Mario Kart World was developed for Switch 1 originally.

@Don I think it’s pretty safe to say that Nintendo is at its best when it’s back is against the wall. That’s kind of how nature works. Fight or flight puts organisms into superstrength overdrive.

My hope and prediction is that they are going to make the next major Mario title truly innovative. Since they didn’t do that with the hardware this time. Do it with the flagship series instead. Plus, I think there isn’t much left to do with the 3D Mario formula. I have no idea how they push it to a new level, but if they can I will have a lot of faith restored.

Re: Opinion: An Ode To The Fallen Arm, Xenoblade Chronicles' Best Map

Galaxy2IsTheGOAT

Great piece! I definitely went in blind to Xenoblade Chronicles and the fact the game/planet surface is a fallen creature was very interesting. And then you kinda spend all game trying to conceptualize what “part” of the body you are on in the back of your mind.

Have played 1-3. All great big games. But 2 and 3, especially, just didn’t do it as much for me as 1. I’m currently playing and 60 hours into XCX Remaster and it’s won me back over. Love the combat and able to clearly/easily follow the story far. LOVE the world/map and exploration aspect.

My big question is am I really on the surface of a planet, or is it another fallen giant? Excited to find out
