@Solid_Python I admit I read into this too quickly. My guess is this will not apply to physical Switch 2 games on or after launch day
If it does require internet connection for physical games, and they don’t make it clear that an internet connection is required, I’m sorry but that is bad form
Sure internet is ubiquitous in this day and age IN MOST DEVELOPED AREAS. But what about some other countries, or people in very rural areas?
I just buy case for the actual console itself. That’s all that needs to be super snug and protected anyway. I have a sweet neon green glow in the dark super mushroom case for my Switch. The controllers, games, dock, cords, etc I just throw into regular travel bags
@Misima Patches and updates are not required for physical games or consoles to work.
Again, I have played about 50 physical games on my Switch and it has NEVER been connected to the internet. I have yet to come across a game that didn’t work start to finish. I’m buying games sometimes from 2017. I did buy my console in 2021.
I see nowhere it says connecting your Switch 2 online will be required for anything if the full game is on the carts you buy
For Zelda they could do a couple small rides. An Epona Merry Go Round, a Red Dragon ship (Wind Waker) that rocks back and forth and goes upside down. Maybe an interactive walk through where you have a sword and walk through lost woods and a dungeon. If it’s a coaster a Death Mountain theme. Zora water ride.
I always expected one this summer. Still so much to learn about Prime 4 if it really is releasing this year. Plus I think they will tease their big holiday release which I still think will be 3D Mario. Hopefully they take 3D Mario in a brand new direction/new team
I guess you would also have to steal a physical game cart to play anything. I wonder when Nintendo will turn the servers on if you did get a digital Mario Kart bundle early. I would think they’d have the servers on a bit in advance for testing/prep
I guess my unpopular opinion on the series is 8 is towards the bottom for me. Still I give it a 7 or “good” score. The character you controlled just felt too big and the game clunky. Mario Kart World looks to fix those issues I had. Very excited for it to get me back into some MK!
@jake1421 mouse would definitely be better than Switch motion controls for star bit collecting. But you also need to waggle that right-hand remote.
Hopefully they release a sensor bar and Wii remote whenever they start doing Wii virtual console. World of Goo and games like this just aren’t anywhere faithful
I think the reason they didn’t port this to Switch is because you have to collect so many star bits and they play an important role in game. Switch motion controls aren’t anywhere close to Wii pointer controls.
Does the Smash Bros. Gamecube controller for Switch 1 have analog triggers? And will that controller work for the Switch 2 and Switch 2 Gamecube games?
@nohr7 I noticed the figure you can buy is also that version of Link. Maybe they wanna fall back on the classic green tunic Link because it’s the iconic green and they are using that in the movie. Or maybe it’s just an old statue but I doubt that since they are selling the figurine too
I recall getting stuck at a difficult wall-type jump on the GameCube version and I quit the game and never tried again. But do recall it got good reviews back then.
Dead Cells and the latest Metroidvania Prince of Persia were two of my favorite recent games so I’m very excited about the upcoming Prince of Persia/Dead Cells collab game
Really enjoying Kirby and the Forgotten Land. Thought it was gonna be too easy thus boring, but it’s not at all if you go for 100% as you go along. Getting the time trial check mark on the bonus levels is a nice little challenge.
I find the value and fun of most first party Nintendo games these days lies in going for 100%
I’ll try out the Switch 2 joy con for a bit, and maybe use them with first party games that really take advantage of the new rumble or design, then probably keep wearing down my old trusty Switch 1 Joy cons, if it doesn’t change the “feel” of gameplay too much, for third party games where the difference may be moot
If you play a lot if Mario Kart LOCAL multiplayer, this is very good news you can all use you old switch controllers. I imagine most people that have MK8 will easily already have 2,3,4 sets of controllers now for MK World. That helps justify the higher price a bit imo
I’m all for that. I had my fun with Stardew Valley. He should do what he wants. I for one am much more excited that The Chocolatier is not a Stardew sequel.
I played sooooo much Stardew last year (my first time playing it). But I don’t think I ever will again, and that is no knock at all. Oddly it’s the opposite. It was so memorable I just don’t need to repeat it. Listening to the soundtrack from time to time when I want that huge nostalgia hit will be great. Some absolute transcendental tunes there. It’s a 10/10, unforgettable game. And I have lots of games Ive played multiple times and plan to revisit, but not Stardew.
Mike York maybe focus on the gameplay for GTA. I’ve played them all and you move around like an RPG character on a map. Oh wow your game features the best art money can buy! If I wanna watch a digital art movie I’ll rent a Pixar.
Not a video game. It’s yet another interactive movie.
Nintendo should respond: while we do have exciting new ventures in the film industry (shameless plug for Zelda and Mario movies) we are a video game company first and foremost, not a movie company.
I’m guessing GTA VI will have tons of extra paid “DLC” and end up way more than MK World when actually “complete”
@PharoneTheGnome I was mostly saying that you don’t have to eat unhealthy, pre-prepared food that costs 3-4x more than if you were to make your own. If you do eat out or eat fast food daily, you could save probably $50-100 per week. Start cooking your own simple foods now, only drink water and you would have enough for a Switch 2 in a month
It’s mind blowing to me people will spend $10 on an unhealthy fast food meal but complain about $10 extra for a video game they could play for hundreds of hours

THAT IS BS!
does it say on the box that you need an internet connection?
I’ve owned my Switch for 5 years and played 50 physical games just fine without ever connecting it online
I would think this does not apply to physical Switch 2 games

@Misima you can’t set up the system without internet? Is that confirmed?
I bought a Switch in 2021 and have NEVER connected it to the internet. I’ve played 50 physical games start to finish just fine
I’d be shocked if you have to connect Switch 2 online just to turn it on or play a physical cart
