Western developed platformers, was pure horror. Did the mistake of buying Bubsy for SNES, back in the day, but thankfully, I could return if for a full refund.
People complain about, modern games being crap. But they seem to forget, just how bad it was back in the 80:s-90:s as well, when the nostalgia goggles falls off.
For people complaining about adding a difficulty settings, you can still play at hard, and get the experience YOU want.
The "Git Gud!" crowd are such an annoying bunch of elitist a******s.
Played the demo for about an hours, and then uninstalled it. I'm done with Falcom JRPG's. All of them looks and feel the same now, with the typical clichés, characters and artstyle, that modern JRPG' suffer from. They even succeeded to make YS boring now...
@Jeronan Yeah, this is the reason, why I only buy Nintendo consoles for the exclusives, that are tailor-made for the console. Everything else, I play on PC, or the stronger consoles.
Reading the typical "If this game can do it, so should that game as well", not understanding that, different game engines work in different ways, when it comes to disk access and CPU/GPU usage.
@electrolite77 It's not magic. If a game is too demanding, then there is a limit to what can be done, with optimization. Otherwise Cyberpunk etc would run at native 4K 120fps, with raytracing, on Switch 2.
Don't get me wrong here. It's still impressive that they can make these games run at all on handhelds. But mediocre performance will once again become the norm on newer demanding games, on Nintendo hardware.
Not surprising. It's a very demanding game, even for more powerful consoles.
You have to set expectations with these huge titles. Switch 2 is more powerful, but not THAT powerful. In portabel mode, it's even weaker than the Steam Deck. It only docked, when it surpasses that handheld.
And no it doesn't have anything to do with optimization, as some engines scale down better than others to mobile hardware.
Switch 2 is basically a portable PS4.
And once again the weak CPU is often an issue.
This is why I only play first party exclusives on Nintendo hardware.
After waiting for 8 years, I have lost a lot of hype for the game.
Not sure anymore if it will deliver the goods.
The gameplay we've seen so far, didn't exactly make my jaw drop.
But we'll see.
I sure as hell hope, that Nintendo NEVER announces a game that early, ever again.
The graphical and resolution downgrade, is pretty massive in some areas, but still, cool to see how the Switch 2 version turned out. From the looks of the upscaling artifacts, it seems that FSR is used, once again, instead of the superior DLSS...
I decided to just buy first party and exclusive indie games on Switch 2, and play the rest on my PC and Legion Go S.
I think UE5 games and upcoming AAA games, will struggle on Switch 2, unless they start to take proper advantage of using DLSS instead.
But things might improve, with some additional optimizations, both when it comes to software and the hardware itself. I wish the developers had access to more RAM for games. Just an additional 1GB (going from 9 to 10GB) could go a long way. Let developers free up more memory, by disabling game-chat and video capture functions. Would gladly trade those, for better performance in games. They could do it on Switch 1, so hopefully Nintendo will let them do the same on Switch 2, in the near future.
All developers should include a performance mode, on upcoming Switch 1 games, that unlocks the framerate (and dynamic resolution), for future use on Switch 2. Then there would be no need for a SW2 patch, later on.
Looks much more fun, than Mario Kart. Already got bored with Mario Kart World, after just a few races. Shouldn't have wasted the money on that bundle...
I love Kirby. But come on. Give us that damn MP4 Direct already... It's the reason why I bought this damn system, as I expected a late summer release...
Just another crappy tech demo, that chould have been a free pack-in game.
It's sad how Nintendo have dropped the ball on this. On Wii we had Wii Sports. And on Wii U we had Nintendo Land, which both acted like games to show of the tech, but also succeeded in being really fun games.
After all the updates, this have become one of my favorite Double Dragon games. Hope we get some DLC in the future, with more stages. Love how the stages expand, depending on which one you start with. Usually start with the "Egyptian" stage, as it's (too me) the worst one.
This could backfire, and as the kid grows older, he/she is already burned out on everything Mario and Nintendo, and moves on to the next thing.
Let your kids discover their own favorite brand of characters and toys, and don't force your Nintendo nostalgia upon them.
Seriously, it's time to lock the gates, and only let quality indie games through. This ***** is just going to get worse, with all the AI created crap...
I was hoping for Contra styled run and gun.
But including a timer, stealth and searching for ammo, makes me fear, that we might also get boring 90s labyrinth styled maps, like in that Alien 3 game etc.
I'll wait for reviews.
Why they didn't include a performance mode, when they knew about the Switch 2, is just insane. Cancelled my physical Switch edition, and bought it on Steam instead. IF, it get's a Switch 2 patch, I might buy the physical.
This is NOT a game, you wanna play with the added input lag that 30fps brings, as it's VERY dependent on quick reflexes. Even the new Shinobi demo, with more intense action, runs better on Switch 1.
I miss when previous gen consoles, dropped in price, and became budget consoles.
Increasing the price of almost decade old hardware, which costs them MUCH less to manufacture today, is nothing but greed.
Tariffs are just an excuse for them to raise the price, even higher
Nothing in the poll, that I'm interested in, as I've already played most of them on other platforms. I hope there is some brand new stuff in there, and not just ports of older titles.
If Nintendo didn't wait so long, to send (or not send at all) developer devkits for Switch 2, then we wouldn't be in this mess. Maybe we'll get Switch 2 ports, at a later date? But I'll just play it on PS5 or PC, instead of waiting for a port that might come six months later.
I wish I had just stuck to my 8BitDo controller. The overall feel of the Pro2 controller is amazing, but I'm already having problems with the left stick. And the D-pad, are making wrong inputs, going to the sides, instead of down, about 50% of the time... Nintendo used to make the best D-pads in the world...
Next gen Pokémon, and it still looks like a cheap smartphone game. Just look at the amazing 2002 era animations. And a city, where people mostly stand in one spot and stare. Maybe in 2045, we'll finally get a game of AA quality.
The Pokémon Company sure knows how to spend the bare minimum of money, making a game, and then laugh, all the way to the bank, as the game keeps printing money for them.🤑 Good for them...I guess...
I'm using an emulator to play on both the 3DS and Quest 3. I don't understand, why they never released VB games officially on the 3DS, as it works perfectly. Much easier on the eyes, compared to the original hardware, even though it was never as bad as people made it out to be. The 3D effect was flawless.
The port is so bad, I just stopped playing the demo, after 10 minutes and uninstalled it. Even though it was the Switch 2 version, it still looked and ran, like a bad Switch 1 port.
I bought cheap Switch 1 cases, and replaced the red ones.
That way you can clearly see the reversal art, with proper colors, instead of the heavy red tint.

Re: Virtual Boy Is Being Added To Nintendo Switch Online
@Truegamer79
No, but it had some great games on it, that deserves to be played again. VB Wario Land is my favorite in the series.
Re: Virtual Boy Is Being Added To Nintendo Switch Online
Interesting timing, as I just installed the VB emulator "Red Viper" on my New 3DS. Which works amazing btw.
Re: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Finally Gets A Release Date, Open World Confirmed
Open-world....
The more I see from the game, the less of a Prime games it feels.
Been waiting forever for this one, but I'm not feeling it anymore.

Would also have been the perfect timing for Galaxy 3, but nope...

You're kidding, right?
Just a bunch of mobile phone looking indie crap. I tried that metroidvania game, and the controls and gameplay was horrible.

It's not about the size, it's about the speed that is needed to access that data.

Re: Ubisoft Employee Explains Why Star Wars Outlaws Is A Game-Key Card
Not surprised, as the Switch 2 carts are still WAY slower than a SSD.
Lots of data that needs fast access in modern open world games.

"Upgraded framerate", while the framerate contantly stutters in the video. Hope it's just the trailer itself, and yes, I watched in 4k/60.

Hope we get a brand new Kirby game soon, built ground up for Switch 2.
