As someone who has worked in primary school education for over 5 years, I cannot believe the number of children arriving of a morning exhausted, distracted and not willing to engage because of their Fortnite sessions - which go on until the early hours of the morning.
Parents are unwilling to accept responsibility, because as far as they're concerned, it keeps their children quiet at home
It's just a terrible business model, to allow a game like this to be free-to-play to absolutely anyone of any age; and for Epic to have the audacity to say (in an interview) that it's "just good fun for the family"...
@EVIL-C Nothing cries out to me that the PS5 and XB-S are big mainstream products. We've reached a point where raw power is having diminishing returns, and those consumers that do care about the finer points are becoming a niche market segment.
The only reason people will upgrade is simply because Sony and MS will stop supporting the previous platforms - no other reason.
To be fair, what more can they do to the game without upgrading the graphics? Mario Kart is in a similar situation - I imagine the next instalment will be an 'ultimate' experience with past tracks, drivers and more.
Considering patches of the UK are still limited to around 3mb regular broadband (and spotty ones at that), and those that do have fibre are seeing slowdown on Stadia - run by one of the worlds foremost in internet technologies - I fail to see cloud gaming become a mainstream choice for many, many years.
Nintendo has nothing to lose by releasing it in Q4.
It's a guaranteed system seller, has the potential to be the best outing yet (If World Tour is anything to go by, with the return of past items and characters) and given that all the heavy work was already completed for MK8D during the Wii U days, they'll have had plenty of resources dedicated to it.
I'm not saying Nintendo needs to release it, but they've more than made their money from MK8D. My guess would be that they'll put the former title in a 'Selects' line and release a new game under a 'Ultimate' moniker, a la Smash Bros.
I would say Missingno; but it'd probably delete all the other characters... But in all serious I'd like something a bit more off-the-wall, such as...
Earthworm Jim,
or Chris Redfield (Res. 4).
And please - no more Geno requests!
My only criticism is the very harsh rubber-banding on items.
I don’t find it fair that as a skilled racer, or simply someone who has managed to be in first place, you’re effectively punished by being given an entirely different selection of items to those other places; which as you gradually get lower and lower, give you a greater advantage.
I recognise this has always been the case, but in MK8 it became very aggressive.
At the very least, I would like to see Nintendo add a ‘random’ option to item pickups.
Also - and this is perhaps more subjective - some of the character slots are really wasted. Baby / Gold Peach? Link? What about Captain Falcon or Diddy Kong?
Of course it's going to be difficult - stocks are low because it's just been Christmas all world over, and Switch is hot stuff right now. It will take Nintendo some time to manufacture their next batch.
I remember first seeing this game when it was released, and literally had no idea what to expect from the artwork. It was very mysterious, and the only reason I purchased it was because it reduced to £25 haha.
For some reason I never quite made the connection with arcade games, probably because it was so unlike Nintendo at the time. Of course, I don't regret the purchase, and spent many happy (and frustrated hours) fighting.
I believe that of all the GTAs, 3 and Vice City are the most likely to arrive (if at all) on Switch.
Nintendo has taken a hard line because the violence is set in a realistic world that is designed to reflect life - not something fictional/mythical - and I understand their approach.
However, given that 3 and Vice City are probably classified as retro now, they’re no where near as immersive as the later entries.
If you consider this 10/10, then what the heck is Super Mario Bros. 3?
It's a classic no doubt, but the difficulty level doesn't have the same progression as the former. It's just much too easy to have considerable replay value.
The GC era was a frustrating time. Value for money no doubt, but Nintendo really put themselves into a corner - even down to simple things such as including only one Z shoulder button, which limited how games could be ported. I guess like the N64, I’ll remember it for the quality-over-quantity.

All of them in 2020? HAHA! Yeah right.
Maybe one or two, and I don't see them packing a bunch of titles into one either, they can't make as much money that way.
But for now, the only question is... do I go physical or digital?!?
