I still remember when Waluigi first arrived on the scene back in 2000, though we first knew about him in 1999 when the game was previewed. And before that, he was profiled in a Nintendo magazine (which I believed was a misprint at first).
Honestly, I think just about every Nintendo fan thought this was a big joke. The name sounded completely goofy, he had no backstory and no obvious reason to exist in the game at all. We all just laughed about it.
But if you had asked me back then whether Waluigi would become as widely known/'memed' as he is today, I wouldn't have given him a chance. It's quite incredible that the character has, literally, become a satire of itself.
@electrolite77 If you’re honestly saying that £19 a year for dozens of NES, SNES, Tetris 100 and online matchmaking isn’t good value, then I suggest you try a different fishing shop?
I can’t really understand the complaints about NSO (apart from online matchmaking quality...) when it’s such ridiculous value for money.
Seriously, it’s equivalent to roughly £1.50 a month - and even FREE for 12 months with many games.
If any of the complainers here are grown adults with responsibilities, that’s a drop in the ocean. I spend £20 on petrol alone every week!
Virtual Console had worse emulation, only one save state per game, cost considerably more (£3.49 for NES one title? £5.99 for one NES game?) and still took a long time to fill the back-catalogue over the years.
Furthermore - at the time Virtual Console was around, people would incessantly complain. Every. Single. Week... about the prices and selection. So nothing has changed in that regard; Nintendo merely acted upon these complaints.
Not everything was rosy ‘back in the day’, but was a novelty as there were few other options. Could Nintendo add a high paid tier? Yes. But by having this extremely affordable option, there’s really excuse to not buy into it.
@NoTinderLife It is 'full' of ports and remasters because many audiences haven't had the chance to play them on a Nintendo platform, since developers in question often skipped over previous consoles.
To be fair, you only have to input the code once for each friend.
Also, you can add near-by friends using the 'symbol' feature, where one Switch features a set of Clubs, Spades, Diamonds or Hearts, and the other Switch user just needs to match them on their console.

It’s frustrating that SNES versions of several of these games are absent - and they were so much better, too.
Wario’s Woods, for instance, or SMB 1-3 - all have better graphics and audio.
