If you're still shopping around for your Animal Crossing: New Horizons pre-order, you might want to consider this quirky offering from the Nintendo Official UK Store.
You can now pre-order a digital copy of the game from the store (you'll receive a digital download code via email) and be sent a physical item through the mail as a bonus. When going through checkout, you'll be able to choose between a pin set or a tote bag.
The bundle costs £49.99, which is the same price as getting just the digital game alone from the eShop or the recommended retail price of the physical version. If you're wanting to get the game digitally to tend to your activities each day with no hassle, this isn't a bad option at all:
Please note that some external links on this page are affiliate links, which means if you click them and make a purchase we may receive a small percentage of the sale. Please read our FTC Disclosure for more information.
Looking for more options? Other UK retailers are offering physical copies with different bonuses and there's plenty of great Animal Crossing merch available, too.

Glad to be able to pre-order digitally at last. This is definitely a digital purchase for me – easy access to AC all the time.
Pins – meh, I'm not much of a things collector these days - but I guess they'll be collectable one day (read- sellable) and don't take too much space.
Those pins are actually pretty nice.
I'm still sitting here though, kinda hoping they announce that updated Switch with an Animal Crossing theme. Not a Lite, the real thing.
But with a nice, subtle color scheme. Nothing too glaring like bright pastel blue or anything.
I'll still be buying my copy from the eShop, I have £12 on my account and may very well get the tokens to pick up another game later on down the line
Nice. I may get the Tote bag unless somewhere else offers the game digitally cheaper.
Edit: CDKeys currently has it £38.99 so I'll go with that
Yeaahhhhh... or if you purchase the £84 game vouchers, that works out £42 a pop.
yes it does, and I know once it's ready to go at midnight I'll end up going to sleep around 4 a.m lol
@Emperor-Palpsy No need to even buy those vouchers. It can already be found for £39 digitally...
@Kiz3000 Fab, do you have a link?
@Emperor-Palpsy It's £38.85 from Shopto
https://www.shopto.net/en/ndo10004427-animal-crossing-new-horizons-switch-p191565/?affiliate_source=aw&awc=2943_1580297394_e3926b2ae2541d0f187a7e754e6b91c6
Or £38.99 at CDKeys
£40 at TheGameCollection, with the Isabelle pin, so I'll go with that.
this game won't have cloud backup, so keep that in mind before going digital
@pblive @ZelthkingYoutube my brain hurts thinking about this, but how can a retailer sell a download code at less than the actual digital storefront? Have Nintendo sold them DL codes at less than RRP? If so, then surely that’s Nintendo leaving money on the table?
@Cero won’t that apply to both digital and physical? Both versions save progress data to the system, not the cart, and that’s the data that gets backed up to the cloud (when enabled)
@gaga64
Either a loss leader for whichever store is selling it cheaper, or they are just taking a much smaller profit.
Not unusual, the official store for many companies is usually the most expensive place to buy the product.
Digital prices are an absolute joke.
@Heavyarms55 I was thinking I might get a Lite with AC theme, but then the Lite announced with no tv connectivity. I really want to play AC on the go and on the big screen. But i didn't think about what you said, a regular switch, AC themed. That would be tempting.
@gaga64 are you sure the save is not on the cart? That's awful
@dugan Yeah, I am in an extreme minority on this site as one of the few people who still dislikes the Lite, primarily for that exact reason. In my opinion, it's a strictly inferior device.
@Cero saves are never on the cart. They're always on the system if they don't support cloud saves. Games like Pokémon and Splatoon are on the hard drive.
Hmm really torn now! I want those Pins, but do I get a cart or go digital.... I always buy big games and ones I know I will love on cart, I love having it physically in my collection, but so many people seem to be suggesting that digital is maybe the more sensible option here due to the way it’s played.
@TDRsuperstar2 so the console dies we are screwed either way, cart and digital. Wtf nintendo
@Cero for those particular games yeah pretty much.
@Welshland Same here... with the way this game has slowly been trickling out information... and now the fact digital pre-orders have gone up in the form of download codes, hopefully won't be too long until it lets us download from eshop itself, as I have money at the ready!
@Cero Going digital doesn't make a lick of difference. Both physical and digital Switch games save on the console, not the cartridge.
Edit: annnnd I just realized that question was already answered, oof
And here I am in Canada, longingly staring and wishing we'd get some kind of pre order bonus
@peanutbuttercup hopefully you do soon!
@peanutbuttercup Same! I was just about to post that Canada likely won't receive anything because we never do. I think I'll just be redeeming my final Nintendo Switch Online voucher for this game anyway. But it would have been nice for Nintendo to actually acknowledge us with something.
I bought two vouchers already from the online offer for £85 planning to use one on this and save the other for eg the Xmas game.
@Smashfan502, thanks! This is an old username. I have a different username but it won't register it because it has a full stop. Will change it once I find a way around it.
Edit: There we go, changed it haha!
@Smashfan502 Yeah, changed it MrFrog, that's my official username. No worries, you didn't make me upset or nothing!
full stop as in "." this Sadly when making a username, I can't do Mr. Frog as it doesn't allow it here when making a username.
Still holding off in the hope of an Animal Crossing Switch... however I do like that bag...
@Smashfan502 I didn't have it as official because when creating the username, I couldn't do the ".", so because I didn't know how to get around it, I chose Little007bond (my old username), till I could figure it out, which I did!
Some places don't allow it for some reason, dunno why. I think it's because "." doesn't count as a letter.
@Smashfan502, yes logically it shouldn't count as a letter, but it sadly does.
