In a press release issued today, Capcom President and CEO Haruhiro Tsujimoto has confirmed that an employee at the company has contracted coronavirus (COVID-19).
The release notes that one employee working at Capcom's headquarters in Chuo-ku, Osaka has tested positive for the virus. Capcom promises to work with health authorities to try and prevent any further spread, committing to exploring the employee's recent activity and anyone who may have come into contact with them, and disinfecting the company office.
It reads, "the highest priority [will be] given to the prevention of the spread of infections inside and outside the company and the safety of employees, business partners, and partner companies."
A Nintendo of America employee also tested positive for coronavirus last month, resulting in company-wide closures across its headquarters, New York retail store, and repair centres.

Am sorry to hear about it.
I hope they're not confusing COVID-19 with V-JOLT...
@Emperor-Palpsy I haven't played any of them actually but I'm sure that's a Resident Evil reference. Surely Capcom is not going growing a giant evil plant in their basement?
@Emperor-Palpsy nah he got the t virus were all screwed.
@Cevil He's doing his job which is reporting on news regarding Nintendo and their partners. This could delay Capcom related projects for Switch depending on the severity so it should be reported on. He's not fear mongering in the article just reporting the news that someone in the Capcom office tested positive and this is their (Capcom's) press release on the matter.
@Cevil Be quiet. It's called reporting the news, yet you're shooting the messenger? Get over yourself.
Corona must be the biggest disaster in the entire history of human mankind. It seems like EVERYONE is dying on Corona at the moment, no other diseases or accidents. The world is standing still basically and you are ripped of basic rights. My 60 years old mother said, she can't remember anything close to the current situation.
@MrBlacky Spanish influenza was worse. Currently not going to reach numbers like that. Depends on if it mutates rapidly, though, growing resistant to any sort of treatment. Maybe it's engineered, who knows. Wouldn't hit the bomb shelter just yet, though.
It's gonna be Raccoon City in Capcom HQ..
The Capcom Home Arcade is still not been released in U.S. and they are dying. Great... now I'll never get one.
Slight misnomer, but COVID-19 refers to the disease triggered by this particular coronavirus. It’s an abbreviation for “coronavirus disease 2019.”
So the best case for this employee would be that they could be asymptomatic for the duration of the virus’s run.
That reeks! Wishing them a full recovery and hope no one else has it. X(
The scary part is this has been spreading around since before it was a pandemic and there are likely hundreds of thousands infected in every country who will have no way of knowing they have it.
Thanks Chinese Communist Party!!!
