Re: Poll: Have You Ever Had Problems With Nintendo Hardware?

Only two issues:

  • a NES that had the blinking light (lock-out) fault
  • N64 controllers with loose sticks.

I’ve owned ever Nintendo console since the NES, and have had no issues with their engineering in the past. Yes, Switch has some minor design flaws, but for a first gen product of a radically new concept, I think they did terrifically well in the short space of time following Wii U’s failure.

Re: Collector Uncovers Nearly 200 Animation Cels From Classic Super Mario Bros. Cartoons

@Kalmaro In a nutshell... The animators drew the action on paper with pencil, frame by frame. The drawings were then sent to be inked and painted on a separate celluloid (transparent plastic) sheet by tracing. Finally, the 'cels' were sent to the camera, where they were placed on top of a background painting and one picture was taken. Repeat the process thousands of times and you have a cartoon.

(Back in the day, Disney animated films had around 150,000 separate drawings/paintings)

The fact that they've confirmed the physical release is 'Origins' all but confirms that it won't feature a download code.

On all other platforms, Origins isn't a merchandising phrase but the title for the software itself. RE Zero and One are actually compiled into a single software package, where the user selects which game they wish to play upon booting. In other words, the titles do not execute separately on the format.

This is great news, and shouldn't come as a surprise. I'm a little bummed that 4 won't have a physical release to complete the collection, but I'll take the original two physical any day.

Re: Hands On: Getting Arty In Yoshi's Crafted World On Nintendo Switch

This is one of the few demos that actually put me off the game.

Compared to Wooly World, I'm unsure if the toy aesthetic really pays off. It feels very artificial to me, and the Gaussian effect they've applied (typical UE4) looks like someone has smeared Vaseline over the screen, a lá Snake Pass.

The gameplay itself is a little too slow for me, but I get there are some who will be fine with it.
