Sega has shared a brand new gameplay video for Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD, the Switch remake of the original game found on Wii.
The whole thing's in Japanese, so unless you're pretty fluent you'll have a hard time knowing which modes are being talked about, but it gives us another glimpse at the gameplay you can expect to find when it releases later this year. The usual banana-collecting antics and mini-games are there in full force, and we're super happy to hear that the infectious theme song is back for another video - even if this one doesn't feature lyrics about biting someone.
This HD remake is set to release worldwide on 29th October, with Japan following just a couple of days behind. You can check out even more gameplay, screenshots, and more details about the game right here.
Thinking of picking this one up? Do you have happy memories of playing as AiAi and friends in years gone by? Stop monkeying around and let us know in the comments below.

I'm not sure having an easily throwable console is good for this game lol
Looks good but that’s gonna be a nightmare in handheld mode! Forget about the switch lite with this if your using motion sensors
This game looks great! Are there airholes in the ball for the monkey to breathe?
@PsylockeRules It would be pretty much the same as playing on a Switch - either you use detached controller/s or you play handheld.
Game looks good fun.
This monkey's balls are super. So are their bananas.
Bit odd that they're going from 50 minigames in the original, to apparently 10 now?
monkey target baby yeah!
@PsylockeRules Switch Lite has been confirmed to have motion controls by GameXplain (at GamesCon)
Having played Banana splitz on my vita I can say with utmost assurance f#@k this game, f#@k it so very much. I cant answer dugan's question as to whether the ball has air holes. I do hope it has a tiny one, just enough so that little smiling monkey b#stard asphyxiates...slowly.
@Divinebovine Indeed. I have banana splitz on my vita and many times it came very close to violently launching from my hand.
It doesn't have "Boxing" mini game.
No Billiards, no buy.
Also, no golf, no buy.
Also, no tennis, no buy.
Also, no target, no buy.
Frankly, I doubt I'll be buying this..
remember how my children played this game on Wii balance board 10 years ago, recycling is part of game industry...
I'm actually very happy with the decrease in minigames. 50 was just way too much in the original Banana Blitz, and it meant that most of the minigames were too simple and lacked much staying power. Hopefully, this means the minigames will be more fleshed out this time.
@citizenerased it's because most of the ones from the Wii were garbage
@matdub whoa buddy no swearing in this Christian Nintendo website, gonna have to take away your roblox account for that one
@Aaronnnnn Oof
So does this mean it doesn't have the Monkey Boxing minigame?
@Jayenkai It showed target.
All I want are good versions of classic Monkey Golf, Fight, Race, Billiards, Dogfight and especially Target. So, like everyone else what I really want is a SMB1+2 remaster/remake.
Why can you jump? That ruins all the fun of trying to find shortcuts! And now almost every wall is fenced off! This is really disappointing as someone who loves the first game
@matdub Why are you so angry? Did a little monkey touch you in the bad place?
@wildbob Not the same game. Step n' Roll is the one which was compatible with the Wii Balance Board.
@CartoonDan oh, cool.
Then remove one of the sins.
My rating is now only minus 3 out of 10.
