@MCHuddle Agreed. It's not a valid complaint about the game being reviewed. If Retro had opted not to create amiibo-exclusive content at all, it would in no wise have affected the experience of playing this game sans amiibo.

Indeed a splended game, and better than its predecessor.

The Japanese box barely convinced me to not vote for NA. Honestly, none of these are bad.

I liked what they were going for with the characters in MP3 but felt they missed the mark due to corny dialogue and mediocre voice acting. I like the look of these characters a lot, and the VA has been, from what I've heard, shockingly good. The dialogue has been...not great, but not terrible. Decent enough by video game standards, at least.

Kirby Air Riders is not at all my thing, but it did send me on a Kirby kick. I'm replaying Dream Land 3 this weekend (along with regular sessions of online Mario Kart World, of course).

This was my first M&L game (of two). I found the battles tedious and the dialogue more so. I attributed these faults to this being the consensus weakest of the series, but after playing the first game I've decided they're characteristic of the series as a whole. At least the overworld puzzles are neat.

Finally, amiibo that do something interesting, again, but now they cost too much. Real monkey's paw situation.

Nintendo hasn't known what to do with Star Fox since Star Fox 64. I think the fact that SF was created by another studio is a big part of the reason. (I say this as someone who has enjoyed post-SF64 games.)

@swedetrap Pretty much my thoughts. So many cool ideas in this game squandered by extremely shallow gameplay. Whole game feels like a waste.

Setting aside how I feel about the game itself, I thought it was a terrible decision to release Air Riders when they did. It surely would have benefited from a larger install base and more temporal separation from Mario Kart.

On the other hand, this game's very existence probably has little to do with marketability, so in that light its poor timing shouldn't be a surprise. This is Sakurai's reward for his long years of toil in the Smash mines. Good for him, I guess.

Please tell me MacKenzie is in it!

NA, Japan, Europe.

NA has a great asthetic and several game logos. Japan has color and style.

Europe can't be bothered with visual appeal; it's too busy plastering age ratings and ac adapter notifications all over the box.

First glance at the headline and I thought knockout tour had been updated, hopefully with more routes. Disappointed.

Not surprised, and kind of a shame. There's a lot of energy and a ton of polish in this game (as I'd expect from Sakurai), but none of that can make up for the vapid gameplay.

The demo let me know I won't be missing out if I skip this one.

@Ralek85 Pretty good summary of the self-contradictory nature of MKW. I find it to be simultaneously the best Mario Kart ever, and the most disappointing. I think there must have been some tumultuous development behind this game, the story of which should be fascinating if it ever comes out.

Strangely, despite being a huge fan of Metroid and Prime in particular, I haven't been very excited for this game. Until today.

Superstars is good but let down by a few key mistakes, at least one of which is really baffling.

I remember seeing some of these in Nintendo Power back in the day. That Chrono Trigger piece in the first photo really stands out in my memory.

Started collecting NES carts (again) after I found a working NES at a yard sale about 3 years ago. Got a RetroTink to run it through. Nothing beats original hardware.

As someone who enjoyed the original very much (though I only played it after it had been patched multiple times, I must admit), I'm really looking forwsrd to this.

I don't normally get fussed about day-one patches, but I have to wonder why it was required for ports of a couple 15-plus-year-old games.
