I once bought a copy of Metroid Prime Trilogy for the Wii for something like 10 euros.....then never played it.

Eventually I sold it to a retro video game store to get money to buy a Switch.

@Illusion Well, 40% or above is considered is considered a passing grade. (at least in Ireland anyway)

Julie looks kind of creepy, but other than that the artwork itself looks nice enough. (at least if we're just comparing it to the other games on this list) Ghost Lion is another that has a weird kind of charm to it.

That Karnaaj game is definitely the worst, I don't get how anyone could look at that and think it was ready to be sold. Somehow the Nintendo seal of Quality label being on it makes it look even worse.

I have such mixed feelings on this game. The vibe the game has is definitely it's strongest quality, it's completely bonkers.

I didn't have the patience to finish it back when I played it. I think you really need to LOVE the vibe it's selling to keep going with it.

Never played this as I didn't have a ps3. Excited to try it. Between this, the goose game, The Somnium files and Digimon Cyber Sleuth next month I don't know how I'll keep up.

It seems really unlikely that the games would visit every region. If they did it would be even harder to justify every Pokemon not being available.

I'm kind of interested in this....but honestly I'll probably just wait for a sale because I'm still playing Three Houses, Assassin's Creed Odyssey and Nier Automata.

I voted for Sobble though I'm kinda stuck between Sobble and Grookey, so it'll come down to the final evolution.

Scorbunny isn't that far behind them though, if they have a cool evolution (maybe Fire/Electric) it could sway me.

I'm hoping Sobble evolves into a Water/Dragon.

I wasn't really blown away by it. (but that's probably in part because Mario Maker 2 and the Zelda remake didn't do anything for me, and they were the big intro and closer reveals)

Fire Emblem Three Houses was probably the biggest surprise, I've been kinda on the fence about the series since playing Awakening so I wasn't expecting much but I do find this academy direction they're going in interesting. (I also like how the different territories aren't at war with each other)

Seriously though I wonder if we can expect Pokemon news, it wouldn't surprise me if we didn't get anything Pokemon related tomorrow.

The wording plus playable online certainly makes it sound like F-Zero. I can't imagine many Nintendo games that core Nintendo fans would be happier to see make a return.

Earthbound 3 is hardly online friendly and I don't think Wave Race is quite popular enough for Nintendo to say this about it.

Of course that's if we're taking "fans would be delighted to know about" at face value. As in it's a game that the fans have been asking for.

2019 is looking like it'll be an impressive year for Nintendo. Animal Crossing, Metroid, Pokemon, Luigi's Mansion, Fire Emblem and then Bayonetta 3, Daemon X Machina and Travis Strikes Again, among others.

Of course there's the Yoshi game as well. (and honestly I wouldn't be shocked if they had another Kirby game cooking in the oven for this year)

I'm happy that it's coming to other consoles and PC. It can only mean good things for the series I think.

This would be a pretty cool opportunity to get a plush of a less popular (at least for plushies) Pokemon.

I'd be kinda interested in a Starmie plush.

If this was extended to other gens I'd get a Cofagrigus plushie so fast...

It's actually not true that Smash Bros Ultimate wasn't leaked. There was a leak that mentioned Ridley, Ice Climbers, Snake and that every character would be returning. (there was also a fourth newcomer mentioned but I won't say it in the spirit of this news article)

I think this series is just not for me. I tried the demo and it was alright but honestly kind of boring. (also the controls were really awkward)

I feel bad because I played Kirby on the N64 and remember enjoying it but these days I just don't get anything from Kirby.

Really interested in giving this network test a try. I've never played Dark Souls before but I want to give it a go.

I heard Dark Souls is going to be at the $40 price point, which seems like a far more reasonable price for a port. I bet that'll be a huge success for them. I'm thinking of picking it up too, since I've never played a game in that series.

I think I played a demo of this a while back, looked really interesting I might pick it up.

I wonder if this makes a gen 8 announcement this month more or less likely...

Played this game last year. Brilliant game, would definitely recommend it.

Personally I really like gherkins, I'll take them in a burger no problem.

So pleased to see Xenoblade Chronicles 2 passing the 1 million mark.

I guess this means it might show up in the Nintendo Selects range at some point? (I heard Nintendo games that pass 1 million sales become part of that)

I usually avoid side scrolling platformers like the plague but the reviews this game is getting is making me think otherwise. It sounds promising.

May put it on the wishlist at least.

The three I'd go for out of that list would be Octopath Traveller, Bayonetta 3 and Metroid Prime 4.

Though I'm confused why you included Metroid Prime 4 on this list and not Pokemon Switch, since they've both only really been mentioned (I mean sure Metroid Prime 4 got a teaser trailer but still it wasn't really anything) and we have no idea when they're actually coming out.

@crackafreeze Now I'm just imagining a multiplayer Pokemon Snap Labo with one player holding the cardboard Labo Camera and the other players holding cardboard Labo versions of various pokemon (like the bird labo in the video)

Then trying to run around taking pictures of the players masquerading as Pokemon.

I have to say I'm surprised Golf Story didn't at least break into the top 30.

I'm going to predict its some kind of Miiverse successor but with an actual world you can explore with an avatar.

Like Miiverse + Nintendoland + Club Penguin.

Absolutely loved this game. Would definitely recommend it.

Played this a few years back, though I think I only played one or two episodes as that was all they had released.

It was fun and different from what I played of it. Not sure if I'd play it again though.

I won't be surprised, I'm kinda suspecting we may get a bigger direct near the end of January.

Though that was mainly because the direct was called a "mini" direct so it seemed like there'd be something more.

@Justifier I don't think Nintendo cares about what our expectations are. At least not enough to base their direct schedules around it.

@Xaldin Skies of Arcadia, Baten Kaitos, Eternal Darkness and Chibi Robo are the kinds of games I'd pick up if the Gamecube virtual console became a reality. (oh and Gale of Darkness since I only ever played the original Colliseum)

There were a bunch of really interesting games I never picked up as a kid that I regret today.

Well it could be a big year for Pokemon at least, if the next generation manages to make it out in 2018. Of course that's going to be a blockbuster seller and make a lot of people happy.

They've been getting better at bringing 3rd party support on board, so it won't surprise me if we get more really interesting 3rd party support.

I played the demo but it didn't really make an impression on me. It felt like an jrpg I had already played before. (and never finished)

@FragRed No there was just a rumour that there would be a Nintendo direct in January. We don't know when exactly in January it's supposed to happen though.

Also I mixed the games up, the rumour doesn't talk about Shu it talks about Fey.

I wonder if this dates that Nintendo direct rumour as being before January 23rd....

Game looks nice...but I already have a bunch of games I still want to pick up on Switch so I'll probably pass.

Did you guys notice that Golf Story got a nomination for "Best Debut Indie Game"?

It has some stiff competition though...Slime Rancher, Hollow Knight, Mr. Shifty. Not to mention Cuphead.

The only reason I know about this guy is because I saw him thrown around as an obscure retro character for Smash Bros.

Otherwise I doubt I'd have a clue about this game.

I'm hoping they mean a new Ace Attorney and not just a port though.

Anything new from Ace Attorney on the Switch will be a day one purchase for me.

One thing that makes me not as worried about the expansion pass price is that given that it's Xenoblade Chronicles, it'll probably offer a lot of content for that price. (It just seems likely that an expansion for a Xenoblade game would be quite big)
