Re: Editorial: Nintendo's Release Date Quirks in North America and Europe are Harmful to the Holiday Season

DinklingBoy

I actually like the way Nintendo of Europe/Aus and America do their own thing, its unique. All games get released everywhere eventually. Nintendo of South Korea are sometimes years behind other releases, so waiting a few months or weeks isn't all that bad compared to them. If NX is eventually 'region free' like Iwata-san was looking into, then it impatient games can import that games they can't wait for, that is if NX is eventually region free, but I don't think it really matters.

Re: Talking Point: As Rumours Come and Go the Desperation for a Nintendo Direct Grows

DinklingBoy

Usually when articles like this happen, there is usually a Direct around the corner. I remember in March people were wanting a direct and then their was one announced for 1st April. I know if Iwata was still around, we would have properly had three directs since E3's Digital Event already. Would have been nice to have had a Direct specific to Project Zero/Fatal Frame as that would have properly have driven some interest in the game.

Re: Editorial: It's Far Too Soon to Go Download-Only, and Physical Retail Still Matters

DinklingBoy

Project Zero/Fatal Frames release is bizarre no matter where you are in the world. The digital-only version is free, but then it costs you after 30%ish of the game is complete. And if your in PAL regions you have the option to buy the physical version but it comes with loads of unnecessary extra's, that only make it too expensive for what it is. Both versions of the release of this game are very bizarre.

Why not have a demo, a digital version which costs you from the beginning. And a standard physical version of the game (that could feature a steal case or art book). Keeping it simple, on price point- therefore attracting the most attention because its reasonably priced on all formats of release.

Re: Poll: The Tricky Issue of Retail Games as Download-Only Releases

DinklingBoy

Physical games will always exist, otherwise video-game focused stores would no longer exist. Project Zero/Fatal Frame hasn't been released for 10 years in the West, and because it's been so long, It's on a Nintendo console and it's on the Wii U (10 million total sales), it makes sense, for North America anyway, to make this 'download only'. Project Zero (as its known in Europe) has previously sold decently well, but again its been a long time since its been out. And because of the circumstances (10 years, only on Nintendo, only on Wii U) its physical release is limited to a special edition, which most Europeans would buy.

All this means is that more niche Japanese games might get a Western version, which can't be a bad thing. More Project Zero/FF, it's not a bad thing surely.

Re: Video: Eiji Aonuma's Zelda: Tri Force Heroes Introduction Is Now Available In English

DinklingBoy

@hcfwesker @rjejr @Chubblings 2016 is a very special year for The Legend of Zelda, it's the 30th Anniversary. This 'delay' is building up momentum for a totally new and open world in the Zelda series. So for it to be released this year; their would be little buzz for Zelda's 30th. Of course, I do also think the game needed extra development time also, but it seems more than just a 'coincidence'.

Re: Editorial: A Wii U Price Cut is Still Worthwhile Despite Its Ongoing Woes

DinklingBoy

Nintendo did two things with 3DS; slashed the price and unleashed the games. With Wii U, Nintendo have slashed the price... kinda and unleashed some of the games. But they need to 3rd party support, imagine 'Rise of the Tomb Raider', Alien Isolation, Call of Duty Black Ops III (featuring free-online multiplayer) - Its likely never gonna happen, but if Nintendo pushed for these games and many others, Wii U would have constant release of games. And if Nintendo continued to release interesting experiments using two screen gameplay (seen as that was what the Wii U was released for), it would mean your getting great AAA games (maybe not the best graphically, but your getting them) and your getting Nintendo quirky games as well. Wii U then goes from 10 million to 30 million.

I think it would be stupid if Nintendo ditched Wii U next year for rumoured NX, as Wii U is not even 3 years old yet. If NX is coming, I think NX will be what PS4 is to Playstation or Xbox One is to Xbox. Meaning Nintendo will release games for Wii U and NX (NX obviously looking a little better) but the Wii U will drop in price and NX will be the price the Wii U is (roughly). Bet no body thought this theory, and Nintendo haven't ever really done it for a home console, so I'd say its possible.

Re: Sonic Lost World's Wii U Exclusivity Ends With Budget PC Release

DinklingBoy

Sonic Lost World is a great game; Wii U and 3DS versions are both equally great. SEGA are making a good decision here. Though I think they should just go with porting it to Xbox One & PS4 as well. Its a game that many should play. Wii U & 3DS version hasn't even reached 1 million sales yet. This PC port makes sense - sales wise.

Re: First Impressions: Taking A Shot At Fatal Frame: Maiden Of Black Water

DinklingBoy

Never played a Project Zero game before. But I am intrigued by this entry. Seems to be a good fit on Wii U - using the second screen and all that. I didn't know Nintendo (now) owns this series - thats cool, mature games are good for Nintendo.

I do wish they did a standard physical disc version of this game. I would like to purchase it, but I'd rather not spend £50 on a special edition, with extra's I don't really want.

I also wish Nintendo released more information on this game. A short Nintendo direct that just focuses on this game, to get me and others completely interested; though, that is unlikely to happen.

Hopefully Nintendolife show off more of the game.

Re: Feature: Have You Played... ZombiU?

DinklingBoy

ZombiU is a no-brainer (no pun intended). It's an intriguing game, with its permanent death and gamepad play. And I find it is one of very few games that uses Wii U's gamepad for additional gameplay, that doesn't feel gimmicky. Its a shame more people haven't given it a go as even I was surprised. It's not all a brilliant game (this is a Ubisoft game, after all), however for what games Ubisoft create, it is one of their more 'unique games'. Horror fans will find it corny, but its harmless fun; plus JUMP SCARES!!!! Need I say no more........

Re: Talking Point: Star Fox Zero's Delay Could Be The Final Nail In The Wii U's Coffin

DinklingBoy

Their is very little coming to Wii U for the rest of this year. Star Fox has universal appeal but its more a 'B' game than 'Triple A' - same with Xenablades X & Mario Tennis. And other than Pokken & Star Fox coming in 2016 and Zelda (possibly to Wii U) what else do we know about what's coming to Wii U?? Nothing. In that sense, their is nothing to get excited about. Same with 3DS as well - not much is known about 2016. With that in mind NX is likey to be released late next year and its very likely to be a new home console & new portable console, similar to PS4 & PSvita (Im guessing anyway).

Re: Nintendo Direct Broadcasts Will Continue Despite Iwata's Passing

DinklingBoy

Good news, but I think it would be best if Nintendo Directs went back to regional. In the sense that the Nintendo representatives present each direct to their regions. Reggie & Bill for Americans, Morimoto-san for Japan (who took over from Iwata for the last Japan direct in May), and Shibata-san for Europe.... and Enoki-san for Australasia (who did a direct for new 3DS). Before Iwata presented or more so 'introduced' a Direct with news that suited all regions, it was just each regions Nintendo president and their is nothing wrong with that. Having said that, if our new president wants to show himself and show what Nintendo have been working on and want to show off, I'm happy for him to do so.

I just hope we see one in October/November time. I want to know what I can be excited for next year.

Re: Tatsumi Kimishima Named As New Nintendo President

DinklingBoy

'He's has a face of stone, but a heart of gold'. I don't think this guy will be admiring banana's anytime soon, but he knows what he's doing with Nintendo. And in fairness; its not just Kimishima. Miyamoto and Takeda are now Creative and Technology 'fellows', so really it's kinda the 3 of them running Nintendo. Nintendo collectively would choose someone they thought would be perfect for running the company with its future goals, and Kimishima seems to be the man for the main job. I hope to see him in a 'Direct' soon.

Re: North America's Next Splatoon Splatfest is a Battle of Art and Science

DinklingBoy

I understand why, but does every Splatfest have to be on the weekends? Their are seven days in a week and I know kids (who do play this game) have school during five of those days but come on.... holiday times???? Not always a weekend. Im away every weekend, and I never get to play a Splatfest.
BTW Art will likely win...... and for Europe?

Re: Mario History: Super Mario 3D World - 2013

DinklingBoy

A decent 2.5D/3D Mario game. But because levels are so lena, it makes replying the game not worth it. It's nice to see a 3D World in HD, but after the ambitions of Sunshine & Galaxy, 3D World was a bit of a let-down. 3D Mario games are (for the most part) about taking your time and solving some platform puzzles. 3D World always had a clock and it was always ticking. 64, Sunshine, & the Galaxies didn't have clocks (except for remixed worlds for difficultly increases) and their was more choice of where and how to solve some platforms. For me, Sonic Lost World is the better 3D Platforming game for Wii U over 3D World, because their is more choice and more variety. I've replayed more Lost World than 3D World. And at least Lost World takes its inspiration from 2 of the best 3D platforms of all-time (the Mario Galaxy games). And it has some great music; 3D World has some great music too, but its biggest let down is CAT MARIO; along with the Squirrel Suit from NSMBU, they are two of the worst power-ups mario has ever had is a 3D game.... even the Spring power-up from the Galaxy games is a better power-up.

Re: Man Goes On Quest To Buy Every Single amiibo In Australia In 24 Hours

DinklingBoy

To get 90% in stores is a good thing. The others would be easy to get online. But Auz is a smaller country than the US, so their is not 'as much' demand for amiibo, plus their is very few store exclusives. Im glad I live in the UK were I can get all the amiibo I want from online stores GAME & Nintendo UK, no need for any store exclusives or store pre-ordering or waiting in lines early in mornings for limited amiibo's. But having said that Nintendo have yet to release Gold & Silver Mario amiibo officially in Europe.

Re: Minecraft: Story Mode is Heading to Wii U

DinklingBoy

If its coming to Wii U, why didn't the trailer feature it in the end where it shows the platforms its coming to. It has every single current platform their even iOS and androd and old platforms. If it is coming to Wii U, why not put it their?

Re: Future Of Trine Series In Doubt Following Negative Reaction To Third Outing

DinklingBoy

I always found Trine 2 too long anyway, and even Trine is a little too long. So 6-7 hours for Trine 3 seems reasonable. Trine 3 looks amazing and would suit consoles (especially Wii U with the magic powers). I think Trine series might need a break for a few years though. Too many in a short space of time equals repetitveness. Then at least in a few years, it could come back with a bang with Trine 4. Or perhaps a spin off.

Re: Video: Here's How Zombi Shapes Up Against The Original ZombiU

DinklingBoy

Mmmm.... Not really that much difference. The only big difference visually is the 'camera texture' when your looking at light has been cut from Zombi which I think takes away from the murky feeling the game gives. And of course, zombie friends won't show up in Zombi because their are no online features. ZombiU is the definitive version of the game.

Re: Talking Point: Considering the Future of Nintendo Direct and Beyond for Reaching Old and New Fans

DinklingBoy

Ask any nintendo fan and 80% will say they wish Directs to continue. Yes, Iwata was the face of directs and they will never be the same without him, however that doesn't mean they should not be made. In the first few years, the Directs were regional anyway. Reggie did it for America, Shibata did it for Europe/Aus and Iwata did it for Japan. Reggie and Shibata still do regional news for their regions (as does Bill in America, Tom in Aus and now Morimoto in Japan). So I think it should just stick to the regions.

I also think the 'Digital Event' should either axed or moved to December (in a similar way to what PlayStation do in December with PS experience). E3 should go back to a press-conference, with digital events featured. Would also be nice if they did something at Gamescom too.

Directs are something Nintendo should keep alive - I hope they do, for all the fans sakes.
