Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice Slips To Next Year

As Shigeru Miyamoto famously said "A delayed game is eventually good, but a rushed game is forever bad.", with this in mind perhaps we should be thankful that SEGA has decided to delay the release of upcoming 3DS platformer Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice to next year.

In a recent blog post on SEGA's website an explanation was given for the delay:

In order to make sure the game has the time and polish needed, we're moving it out into 2016. No exact window from us, just yet – it'll be ready when it's ready!

In the grand scheme of things, while the downside is that you won't be playing the game this year, the upside is that what you'll play next year, and what fans will continue to play for years after they pick up the game, will be a stronger, more enjoyable experience.

We think that's important, not just for this one game, but for all future Sonic titles.

Given the lacklustre reception given to Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal and its Wii U counterpart Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric, this is probably for the best. As always, let us know what you think about this delay with a comment below.
