Popular Australian YouTube botherer UnlistedLeaf (aka Ando) got challenged by his followers to go on a journey to try and find every single amiibo in 24 hours in Australian stores.
We all have no doubt experienced the pain of trying to find a coveted amiibo for our collection, be it in Europe or North America, but will they just be overflowing down under?
Take a journey with Ando and see if his amiibo quest turned out well below. Has this been your experience of trying to find amiibo in stores?

I'm In Australia and I AM JEALOUS!!
Several things blew my mind.
1) He was able to find 52 of 57 in roughly 5 hours. Most stores in Canada have like 5 different types to choose from. And thats on re-stock days.
2) He was willing to spend about $1000 on amiibo figurines in a day. I know many of us (myself included) have spent that much, but it started 10 months ago for me so it's been spread out. That's some serious spending.
3) 4 out of the 5 he needed were wave 1 commons. WTF? Really?
He didn't buy a single one. I don't know why people are getting so worked up about this.
@Nintendofan83
Its Australia. Our commons are their unicorns.
Ok, first off...
10:55 is NOT early morning!
Second - The guy stops searching at what? 2pm? WTF?
This guy is extremely lazy!
Was he even buying these, or was he just browsing?
UGH, this guy... i don't know why, but he pissed me off...
I live in northern Adelaide SA and from what I've seen lately I could probably get the entire lot in about an hour. We are flooded with Amiibo at the moment.
@Gold_Ranger I thought that too! 10:55 is early in the morning if you only wake up at 10:30.
@Nintendofan83 He didn't actually buy them lol
Couldn't find Smash series Mario, Peach, Bowser, or Yoshi? Those are like everywhere here in the US. Who'd of thought? And why don't they stock 'em like this in the US???
If he tried that in North America... he'd probably get.... 10%? 15%? Somewhere around that ballpark figure.
I'm in Australia and its a weird situation. For months amiibos were really hard to get, now there's plenty of stock everywhere. What's weirder is that amiibos that are rare or exclusive in other countries are easy to get but wave one amiibos like Mario, Peach and Kirby are hard to find.
@Gold_Ranger @Damo
We're Australian, we start at 11, smoko at 11.15, bbq at 12, afternoon cuppa at 1.30 and we knock off to go to the pub at 2
@Nomad
Kirby and Smash Mario are quite common here in Tasmania
To get 90% in stores is a good thing. The others would be easy to get online. But Auz is a smaller country than the US, so their is not 'as much' demand for amiibo, plus their is very few store exclusives. Im glad I live in the UK were I can get all the amiibo I want from online stores GAME & Nintendo UK, no need for any store exclusives or store pre-ordering or waiting in lines early in mornings for limited amiibo's. But having said that Nintendo have yet to release Gold & Silver Mario amiibo officially in Europe.
I love the "rarity" of some of the common ones like Mario now in Australia. It's just because everyone gets Mario. He appears sometimes and then disappears again while others tend to stay on the shelves a bit longer. Before the stock issue was resolved here you'd only ever see Mario or Pikachu if you saw any at all.
@beaukilla same here, all the local stores have heaps.
That's cool, but not really that challenging. Finding Amiibo in Australia is relatively easy. Sure you still gotta look for them, but it's a lot easier to find here than other countries. I don't really think you can really call any of them 'rare' here.
@shaneoh Bet ya you can find many "defective" Amiibo down there in Tazzy. Any two-headed Mario Amiibos? jk.
The easiest ones are hard to find besides golden Mario!!!' This is just sad for NA....
@locky-mavo
I've not seen any in Hobart, but there might be a few in Launceston
Good on him. I've already got all the ones in Australia myself
This article is major salt for NA.
Here in Australia the only Amiibo you can't get in the stores are the Gold and Silver Mario Amiibo, everything else has been restocked for months.
Getting amiibo's is so awful in The Netherlands. Such a small country with little amiibo's
Can't Australians just walk into a gas station and pick up all of them? j/k
@beaukilla Heh, I'm in that area too. Small world.
I'm thankful I have a rad best friend who orders all the new stuff in advance for me. He's a gem.
It's hard to believe that Australia account for only 3% Regional shipment while NA is 63% based on the February briefing. I guess the higher the number, the more it's in demand.
He might actually succeed since it is Australia...I hear they are swimming in amiibo.
I am jealous of Australia's apparent and plentiful amiibo shelf space. NA doesn't even have displays that are half that size in most stores.
@ikki5 na he would get way more than that. It's nowhere near as bad as everyone goes on about.
I'm surprised no one has coined this an 'Amiibo Walkabout' yet. Trademark. =)
I already bought them all! It's called Amiiqo. -sarcasm over
The North American amiibo draught and exclusive retailer bullshite made sure I'm never buying another Amiibo and just downloading them instead.
It's very much a similar story in the UK. All of the current wave are in decent stock, and even some of the rarer figures are getting a decent supply feed - figures like Rosalina and Ness are more of a "wait a week or so and we'll have more in" than a "no idea" at every store I've been to; and the only figures I have trouble finding at retail are the Splatoon figures and Yarn Yoshis; and at least the former are likely to get a reprint soon, so I doubt that will always be the case.
So if he buys every single amiibo In Australia, does this mean he becomes the monopoly for Amiibos in Australia? How is that fair to all the other Australians?
That guy must be really rich.
I've not had any problem getting all the Amiibos in the UK. I've also got the Gold and Silver Marios from the US for retail price (plus shipping). But I've always pre-ordered or used online so there have been no problems. But I also keep an eye on local retailers and yes trying to get all the Amiibos that way is never gonna work as stores don't want to give enough shelf space to Amiibos.
My only "issue" is waiting for Japanese exporters to put up pre-orders for the Family Robot Amiibo. Yes I'm getting the R.O.B. version but also Want the Family Robot version as 1) It will mean a true complete set 2) I own a Famicom Robot rather than a R.O.B.
@hypercoyote it's called a petrol station in Aus, or more accurately. .. a servo
@shaneoh Ha ha! Too right!
@Farpun Well actually we called them a "Servo".
@locky-mavo that's what I said
The Gametraders near my work in (South Shareholders have every amiibo in stock except for Link and Pikachu. I'm limiting myself to only collect LoZ ones though and my Yarn Yoshi's.
*South Australia stupid phone! Lol
In my country you can only get like 7 amiibos and they are all about 30 to 55 american dollars each... fuuu my life..
@Farpun or Amiibo Depot.
i am one of his subscribers and i did see it and How did he not see mario(smash bros), peach(smash bros) and yoshi (smash bros) amiibo? wasn't they really common? i can understand that he cannot find the gold mario amiibo(because it is rare) and maybe bowser(smash bros) (i don't know) but the other 3! how?
i kinda have a much better chance when i went to my local toy r us store and GAME store as the restock is getting better
That picture in the thumbnail is just mindblowing to someone like me who lives in the US. I'll never understand how other places in the world can have such bountiful amiibo stock while one of Nintendo's biggest markets gets absolutely screwed in terms of both stock and store exclusivity. I've never seen the majority of those amiibo on shelves and I probably never will. At this point it would almost be too late anyway. I've already been forced to import and/or pay double retail or more for half of my amiibo.
I HATE HIM
I HATE HIM
I live in Australia and I can find every amiibo like he did. At my melton stores the are every ammibo across 2 stores. Australia gets amiibo restocks every 2 days! We get millions I f amiibos. And the best thing is, you can buy 10 amiibos at 1 store if you wanted too. Man I love living in Australia because we got more amiibos yay!
@StarDust4Ever Australia does have the amiibos he couldn't find. Some areas like my victoria area (I live in Australia) we have loads of those amiibos he could find in adelaide. But after 2 days those stores where he visited anyway will get those amiibos that were not there. (: go Australia
And yes I have every amiibo out there! Its not hard in Australia
@JubilifeRival Dang. You even said it twice.
Guys from everything I heard Australia is a horrible place for games. They ban several or just don't release them because of the horrible ratings system. Many of you complain about having to import amiibo right? Well in Australia they have to import games too. Not because they're not released(though that's part) but because they're so expensive down under it's cheaper to import from Europe...at least that's what I hear.
SOME PEOPLE ARE JEALOUS, !!!! SORRY IF YOU DONT LIKE THE VIDEO DONT HATE ON THE GUY! HE lives in Australia and he is lucky! Like me GET OVER HATER, AND IF YOU ddon't like it get off your lazy bum and get the amiibos yourself and srop crying of it
@JubilifeRival you are just jealous that you cant get amiibos, quit hating on the guy
@Fee I live in Australia and we get millions of amiibo restocks, but for a normal Wii U game it costs $90 dollars and our amiibos cost $18 to $20 dollars each!!!!!
Some people should be nicer and research the facts before they hate
@KodyDawg I would love to help you get amiibo, Australia just keeps on getting amiibos! I live in Australia so yeah we just keep on getting them !
@beaukilla So true
@Larrykoopa18 Yeah. You guys should get SOMETHING right? All of our countries have ups and downs. Sometimes ups outnumber the downs but not in Nottingham(or Zimbabwe). Also make sure @KodyDawg pays up front.
@Fee I know im joking with that user trying to get me to buy amiibos! Im currently doing "amiibo chess game" where I buy 32 amiibos to play in a chess game, Australia gets so many amiibos so why not lol !
Yeah, only amiibo I can't find on any shelf here in New zealand is Shulk!
Honestly, in my corner of Australia (Perth, West Aust.) in the initial waves there was as much of a drought as there was in the US. Although pre-ordering was MUCH easier as they didn't sell out in mere hours, there was still hoops to jump through to get them. But then the restocks came and what was once 'rare' is now relatively easy to find.
I would assume that a similar rollout is planned for the US, but stock here now is what it should have been at launch everywhere. Easy for people to be able to buy or get into, not the ridiculous mad rush it became.
Patience, NA friends! Your restocks are coming!
