I'd be pumped for Metal Slug Tactics. Don't expect Plucky Squire (think that'll be in an Xbox thing) nor Silksong. Bit bored with my Switch rn, hoping for something totally unexpected to wow me. I mean on almost the exact date in 2019 we did get Cuphead.
@DanijoEX-the-Pierrot such a weird comment to make. Like your opinion is valid to you, but why click on a Capcom article then post about why Sega is all that interests you, lol.
@sketchturner I think the sterile, especially with the Emmi and Emmi rooms and the perfect music really matches the atmosphere of Super, BUT in a modern way. AI and Apple looking unnatural aesthetic really unnerve me. It's a new modern kind of lonely and isolation from the world. To me it works even better than an all organic alien world. Dread has really stuck with me over the years. Dunno if that makes sense. It matches the impression the original left on me even if the aesthetic goes a different way of accomplishing it.
Pass for me. Seems pretty shallow. I'm positive my gf's 11 yr daughter would play this once and put it away forever too. You know what would have made kids and young girls really grab onto a Peach game? Hire the Dragon Quest Builders team and have Peach rebuilding her kingdom in a lite Minecraft but more action adventure sort of way. This game just seems thin.
Unmatched? I think Dread matches and exceeds it in atmosphere though there are definitely things in the level design of Super that make it better in game design sense. But atmosphere?
Pretty disappointing to get only one new turf war stage. They really let us down with these seasonal updates. They couldn't even fully commit to the last 2 seasons of updates.
@Scoopz I don't know why people act like comments like mine hurt Nintendo's feelings or something lol. Why would I want a 30fps 3d platformer in Switch when I can get it elsewhere? I don't need to care about how old the Switch is or have expectations set. 30 fps on a 3d platformer is not optimal.
No way am I playing this on Switch again. I loved it when it came out but was also bummed the whole time by how poorly it ran and how soft the resolution was. Extremely excited to get this on Xbox....wonder if the PS versions will be censored at all.
If they paid me to play the games I'd go all digital. I have no problem buying digital for small company releases or online only multiplayer...but outside of that? Hard drive space is at a premium, the ability to replay my games and not have them revoked from me...it's a no brainer.
Super boring, nothing burger, shareholder style Direct. That said the one piece of good news is it seems like they are taking their time developing the next Legends game. With no big title this year it means they're maybbbbbeeee seeing the shortsightedness of rushing out games every year
@NintndoNik I wish I could play jet force Gemini....but that inverted aiming just doesn't click with me. I had it when I was a kid but have no muscle memory for it anymore. I wish these emulated titles had some basic setting like turn off inverted aim.
Not interested in these. Had RC Pro Am as a kid and hated it (back in those days you'd force yourself to play your limited library of games). Battletoads isn't fun. That version of KI isn't so hot. The N64 games I've tried to play on there have all felt so weird to control that they aren't fun. Something feels off in the calibration of dead zone on the stick or something. Snake Rattle n Roll I might give a shot at in the future, not sure I've ever played it. That said where the hell are all the GBA games!
Fun but underwhelming like the "base" for the soup was delicious but they didn't have enough time to add the rest of the ingredients to make it a full pot. If they wanted to do the rogue-like thing they didn't lean into it hard enough IMO. Not enough variation in enemy types or room layouts or backdrops or the 3 mixing it up in surprising ways....like it didn't actually feel all that random.
@IceCatraz awesome. Played the original on Switch and it struggled...best news of the direct is I can play this on my series x and finish it without feeling sick from the frame rate and soft rez.
@batmanbud2 my only issue with Wonder is that is isn't "platformy" enough. Like I wish it made me jump more, lol, don't know how to describe what I mean. But I still REALLY enjoyed it. It was easy BUT you still had to pay attention. Really wish they'd release DLC for it.
@batmanbud2 there's a difference in what games are fun based on difficulty. With Forgotten Land there's a sense of wonder there and exploration and sight seeing. But when a puzzle game has zero challenge...its boring and feels like a chore where you have to go thru the motions. It's like washing dishes.
Game looks nice visually but I'm sure it'll have two huge things against it, 1) there is zero chance this won't be mind numbingly easy and 2) so many power ups that none of them will have a chance to really be fully explored in interesting ways.
Appreciate the review. Hard pass for me even though I loved DK 94. Don't understand why they'd make a puzzle game so easy (even for kids). An easy puzzle game is just sort of a chore. Real tired of Nintendo making most of their games brain numbingly easy. Put an actual veteran mode in your games! That's a massive part of your audience. Just take the time and money to build out that mode.
That's fine if it only has Japanese voice acting, almost always sounds better in Japanese given how high quality the talent is over there. Excited for this looks a lot closer to Ys VIII. I enjoyed IX but being trapped in the city for most of it was a mood killer.
@vio I disagree, Side Order exists outside of the 2 years of free updates promised to us and is a paid DLC for single player content. I just don't see how it counts.
@davetobin I think that can be true about rogue like/lites and that's a legit concern. However if a game is built around the concept right it can be a lot of fun. Binding of Isaac and Slay the Spire are absolutely wonderful and I have been addicted to them in the past (though they kept refreshing them with free updates). I'm uncertain if Splatoon will pull it off but am excited and nervous to try.
But but but are all the backgrounds the same or super similar in the stages? That's my biggest worry, that most of the settings are all gonna look the same. Watched the vid but didn't notice this being addressed.
@vio @AlexanderDaniels The whole second year of updates has been disappointing so far in new content and this one does seem the lightest. Only one new turf war stage is a huge let down. We don't get a lot so losing an additional stage is a punch in the gut, honestly. The DLC is its own PAID thing so that doesn't really count for the season update. The trailer didn't really seem to showcase/draw attention to a lot of new clothes (I think I saw 3) or emotes (at all) which means that likely the shops still won't be getting a general update...and now Im worried about the catalog. A new salmon run stage is always nice but usually that's in addition to new turf war maps. Only getting 1 new stage this time means next season we'll only get 1 as well, which is ultimately 2 less than we expected by the end of the 2 year updates.
Now if they include a lot of reworks and adjustments to the older year 1 stages in this update...I'd be fine with this content.

Re: Poll: So, Will You Be Getting Endless Ocean: Luminous?
I'll wait and see a tech analysis of it. I just got a feeling it will not run as well as it does in the trailers.
Re: SteamWorld Heist Is Getting A Surprise Sequel On Switch This Summer
Saved this Direct for me....nothing otherwise of interest as far as new announcements go.

Tried the demo - nice art direction - neat gameplay ideas...boriiiiiiiiiing level design. Absolute pass for me.
Re: Poll: So, Will You Be Getting Xbox's Grounded For Switch?
It looks awful on Switch. No way would I buy this. They should have put the effort into porting something else.
Re: Sonic Movies To Be 'Avengers-Level' Events, Says Franchise Producer
They need to read the room. Avengers level events are something people are exhausted by studios attempting at this point.

Re: UK Charts: Princess Peach: Showtime Can't Usurp EA From Its Throne
@DogDetective Mario VS. Donkey Kong is way weaker of a release. At least some effort went into Peach even though it's a hard pass for me.

Re: Nintendo Expands Switch Online's Game Boy & GBC Library With Three More Mario Titles
@Magrane curious - why is the GB version superior? The lack of colors makes it seem like a total headache.

Dr Mario GB is unnecessary. Where's Mario Land?

Re: Review: Penny's Big Breakaway (Switch) - A Furiously Fast & Fun Platformer With Sega Spirit
@JenTea 30 fps isn't unplayable but isn't ideal for platformers especially when I can get it at 60 fps elsewhere.
Re: Reminder: LEGO Animal Crossing Sets Are Out Today, Will You Be Picking One Up?
Kind of underwhelming but bought one for my gf's kid's Easter basket.

Game looks fun but there's zero chance of me buying this on Switch at 30 fps.
