@LastFootnote Mario Wonder WILL get a Switch 2 paid edition with more levels. Id bet money they release it in October, otherwise I think they'd have done a free upgrade already. Id pay 20 bucks for the upgrade easy.
@LastFootnote Mario is a great game. Loved it. But it needed more challenge levels or a better post game with challenging stuff with more platforming in it. Would have paid handsomely for dlc. It also does that Nintendo thing where most of it is easy then they do one insanely hard level. Just give us a bunch to unlock after the campaign is over. Pikmin I fell off from because my cat passed away when it came out and now I associate the game with him passing so it'll be prob years until I touch it again. Only got a little ways into it. Showtime...stayed away from that one.
@LastFootnote Mindless as in not really having to try to work things out or having to "platform" to "do the thing"...like a lot of modern Nintendo games. Nintendo has all the aesthetics, gameplay concepts and gameplay feel I crave compared to anyone else...but lately they're terrified to give the player any kind of true situational resistance thru skill or problem solving to complete an objective.
It looks soooooooooo much better now. I bought it recently and was really disappointed by how soft the Switch 2 Edition looked. Was really confused because I had watched review footage of it and thought it looked good....then figured I must have been confused by PC footage or something - but nope this was what I was expecting.
@RudyC3 your game saves are not saved on micro SD cards, they're specifically saved to your console's internal memory, so I'm not sure what you're talking about
I really don't trust any micro SD that inst Samsung or SanDisk. Wonder how these will be? Really want a 1tb card and there have not been any available from the brands I trust
Fantasy Life I Switch 2 Edition is the only Switch 2 game I'm finding worth playing for more than a weekend (Kart World, Cyberpunk and Raidou fall into the couple days only category). Pretty disappointed in the Switch 2 Edition graphics and how soft the visuals are and how low rez the assets seem but the game is fun. Saved the launch for me. Oh and Splatoon 3.
@Buizel it's not nonsense. Very fun for a weekend then that's about it. A bland open world that feels like an afterthought and not a feature; a fun new Knockout Tour mode that unfortunately feels like you're playing the same races over and over; adding 24 players to the reg versus mode makes the online play feel more random than 8 and a lot less fun also it's FULL of connector tracks; lacks track content compared to 8 (before the expansion base even). Compare that to how feature rich something like Fantasy Life I is. Huge disappointment.
@Pillowpants it's a 450 dollar console that was marketed as being a tech forward screen. Nintendo talked up the HDR (it is essentially fake HDR) talked up the 120 fps and VRR capable screen ...only to have motion blur issues, and to top it off purposefully didn't send out review units before launch. Quit defending the mega billion dollar corporation.
An extremely ugly game that looks super uncomfortable to play control wise. Not sure what they're thinking with this. Should be a mini game in Welcome Tour.
@PeteW unless you're a crazy diehard Kart fan or hungry to play one of the Switch 1 games that gets its FPS fixed thru back compatibly I'd wait. I'm honestly kind of bored with mine as a "new console." I don't think you're missing out and I definitely prefer my OLED model screen.
This is what they don't get. I have every single Trails related game released on Switch, as physical, and I've only beat one. Someday I'll finish more. But without the incentive of getting a physical copy while in print so I can have an "archival copy"? I can wait FOREVER until I want it digitally at huge discount.
My biggest need is substantial platforming. Not just smashing or using tricks to surf around and stuff but honest to goodness platforming in this. My other need is for some environments to be showcased that a "wow" factor to it. I didn't think anything Treehouse showed looked all that interesting. My final hope is for some big twist. No clue what that is, but this is missing something.
I've heard that some podcasters with really really little kids that their kids like it. So that's good. But honestly the open world feels slapped on to market this as a bigger deal than the game would be without it.
I'm thinking the writer didn't play Arkham Knight for more than 20 minutes because the game now crashes a lot. Also Age of Calamity does run but but looks at LEAST as worse visually as it did on Switch, I'd have to check the Switch to see if it looks worse. I know Xenoblade 2 actually looks worse visually on Switch 2.
He should get a thanks since he created all these characters and concepts essentially. But Nintendo doesn't want anyone thinking anybody at Nintendo is Mr. Nintendo. They just want you to think everything they release comes from a magical land of smiles without faces
This is frickin' awesome! There was no guarantee that the Switch emulation on Switch 2 would brute force performance like that. Emulation at times can just match a simulation of the original hardware (so it performs the same you see this in retro game collections). So excited to test out the Xenoblade games!
@TAndvig I think that just means that either 1) you need to update each game for it to run on Switch 2 or 2) There is a day 1 OS update that needs to be installed before running the games. I'm assuming this is isn't a "Everytime you pop in a Switch game into Switch 2 you have to verify thru the Internet. I just doubt they're that bad and think it's option 2 and is part of the reason they haven't sent review systems out to outlets yet.
@Diven that's okay if the game data itself isn't transfered I just want all the icons, the keycard loading and dlc access along with the physical save data (for games like Splatoon 2 that don't use the cloud) to transfer over in one action. I expected to have to redownload my digital game data (I'm mostly physical).
Maybe this all means I can just do a system transfer and not worry about porting everything over and redownloading individually straight from the eshop Any body else stressed about how that process is gonna work?
@RupeeClock to your point about the Switch 2 successor being digital only - if it's backwards compatible game keycards are much worse as a purchasing option than just digital.
Nothing I'm seeing from this open world does anything for me. Feels a bit "we didn't know what else to do with the game so we slapped this concept onto it." This would have been neat in 2017 but nowadays I'm just more interested in how engaging the moment to moment gameplay is.
It should become the leader in 3rd party for Japanese devs, but not for the Western devs unless something catastrophic happens with the PS6 or end of life PS5. Switch 2 will have a huge Japanese audience and I feel like the western Switch 2 audience will lend itself more toward Japanese games and indies and some Western stuff like Hogwarts for the most part.
Just depends on how Switch 2 handles Switch 1 emulation if this will lock the variable fps to 60. Sometimes emulation (without a patch) strictly targets the the original hardwares specs (it's why some retro game collections still have slowdown or flicker as it is exactly emulating original hardware). Maybe the Switch 1 emulation on Switch 2 acts like an emulation of a Switch Pro? So same basic hardware but more powerful. This could also explain why some games have issues being emulated on Switch 2, because it's not a 1 for 1 emulation. Who knows?! Would love official answers.
@majinx07 yep - I'd love to transfer my Splatoon 2 data to switch 2 and some of the Pokemon games since they all don't use cloud - in the past when I got a new Switch 1 I'd just do a full system transfer, but with how some Switch games aren't compatible with Switch 2, I don't know if I'd want to do a full transfer. Actually stressing on this.
@Stormcloudlive another random one off the top of my head is Intireates Gal Guardians (the first one). I guess with Legacy 1 the issue is the emulator is different on that one. But the fact I'm going to have to go thru a list of my games before transferring is stressing me out. I think MM1 will boot but has issues. gal Guardians might not even bott correctly.
Not buying another Capcom game for Switch until I know what their backwards compatible game sitch is. Mega Man Legacy 1 is notbackwards compatible so I'm holding off.
@Jalex_64 that footage is also of an older build and Im having a hard time making out the fidelity of image and performance in those capture. We're a month out, we NEED actual extended footage of gameplay.
I attributed the weird fonts and stuff as low rez assets being ai upscaled. I'm certain of it in the case of the shot where the Mario gang is parked in front of an SNES style billboard
I applied for this within like 15 minutes or less of it going up on their site (was listening to an IGN Livestream after the direct and one of the panelists announced it). I have always had Switch Online, 1000s of hours of gameplay and have had all my stuff set to share data with Nintendo....and I still don't have an invite. At least my Target preorder is still holding.
They. Need. To. Show. More. Footage. I'm planning on getting this, truly love them for being of one rare instances of not using a keycard, but we are a month out from launch and I'm not pulling the trigger on a preorder until they show us more of how it runs.
Game keycard and awful looking performance in the Direct presentation, give this a pass from me. If they get it looking good somewhere down the line annnnnnnnd it gets a massive digital discount, maybe I'll buy. If it was physical I'd risk it tho.
I hope that at launch if their sales exceed expectations they talk at length publicly how this is due in part to having a physical copy. It is the main reason I'm buying it and even considering maybe getting Rune Factory.
The game keycard thing has made the decision to adjust my spending habits for me. Just Mario Kart for me and Cyberpunk and maybe Rune Factory for the foreseeable future.
