@datamonkey the secrecy is due to Nintendo wanting everything to seem like it's coming FROM Nintendo as a Nintendo product made by Nintendo proper. They want it all to feel equal.
I'm surprised at all the hate for Pyoro. Their leaks were fun and they didn't really outright spoil things directly and would leave us a riddle or clue to figure out ourselves. Was fun.
@Eli0213 GameStop is never reliable. "It didn't come because our store didn't end up getting any copies/amiibo." Well then how did you let me preorder it? Also had an issue online with the Engage Special Edition. It "left their warehouse" but never was received by shipping. It was a huge ordeal to get a refund because technically it processed. Took weeks.
Was actually the biggest announcement in the Direct. We knew Prime 4 would come at some, knew that eventually there's be a new 2d Zelda too. Mario and Luigi tho was another game I didn't think would be released
Have always thought his design looked so generic and stupid. Was hoping for more of a redesign. Especially so now coming over the amazing villain designs in Dread. Won't ruin the game tho!
@dcstud I had to look up a guide on the dinasaur. You have to let the dinosaur eat Goouigi in the second phase. I didn't realize this because he never seemed like he was trying to in the first phase when I was using Goouigi as a distraction. I think you also can't have a fallen egg ready in your poltergust, or the dino won't eat Goouigi. Like it doesn't trigger the event (there was something weird like that). It doesn't never happened for me until I let Goouigi sit there and I did nothing else.
Anyone else here feel like the visual upgrade ain't that great? It has this weird textureless unfinished render look to it. Couple that with the boring enemy designs the HD version inherited and this looks quite bland. Unless ppl rave about the gameplay being unique in this version I think I'm gonna skip it.
If it had remixes of any kind in addition to this...even if they were ports of previous remixes added as a bonus I'd be pumped, but this still feels kind of boring. Or if there were live competitive stuff like a Mario 35 style mode I'd be pumped. Interested to hear about other legend challenges tho.
So glad this was finally shown off! However, given how long we waited....felt like the way the trailer was cut was too nonchalant, if that makes sense.
@jsty3105 that's why I asked for a link! I was scanning the the comments and missed the context you placed it in. Nintendo is big on data collection but I found that hard to believe lol.
@-wc- lol that went over my head...I was trying to reason out if you meant something like ppl trying to run Wii or Wii u discs on a PC thru some sort of emulation and that Nintendo had hidden a virus on them. Guess I'm duuuumb
I think this is a pass for me. Not enough work had been done to upgrade the visuals. Yes it's smoothed out and high rez but the actual quality of detail doesn't meet expectations for 60 bucks. Never was all that impressed by the art direction or game structure in this game compared to the other two as well anyway
I think all three are bad in their own way. Some of that early Inafune art is super amateurish and has bad composition to boot. But it is definetly the best of the three.
I like 3 but not sure I want a lesser version of that with art graphics, gameplay and art direction way inferior to 3...for 60 bucks they could have at least added in some actual textures in this port.
The sim stuff is only part of it. There's a lot more to 3 Houses that Engage had lacking. 3 Houses has a compelling story with legitimately interesting characters. 3 Houses used it's setting to influence how the leveling up and character classes worked as well. Sure maybe there were toooo many activities you had the option of doing, but it also made sense of all those rpg systems in a really tangible way. Engage lessened this also lost something in the process. I also think the art direction played a big part of its success. While the graphics may have looked nicer in Engage the art direction in 3 Houses didn't feel generic or goofy like Engages did...I don't think Engage looked bad by any means...just was a step below. Also the music and script in 3H was more memorable....could go on and on. It wasn't just sim elements that made it a best seller
@Danrenfroe2016 I don't think they're moving to fps only. Didn't 7 and 8 have over the shoulder added in later? Also I think Revelations 2 is maybe my fav RE game.
@mlt which Revelations is your fav? I think Revelations 2 might be my favorite RE game. Not saying it is the best in the series, but is my personal favorite. Also looked great on Switch because they didn't compress 2 at all...I think it is over 20gb
In fairness the game was sold as a bundle with Re4 and 5 as well. The infamous physical card that only has 4 on it with the 5 and 6 being downloadables.
I'm sorta burned out on the 2d platformer thing. With my time on Switch I've played so many innovative indie platformers in addition to crazy Mario Maker levels and many many Nintendo platformer releases. I just want some exciting 3d stuff. Still missing that 2017 vibe. A 2d DK would be disappointing.
I guess saying "I've already preordered" could double as "I'm not getting it" given the news of preorder cancellations. Hoping my best buy preorder is ok.
Disappointing trailer...so this season update is the map missing from last season (we only got one turf war map last time) and a couple new weapons? Seasonal updates started to decline a little at the one year mark when half of the catalog content became repeated items. But this is by far the slightest update yet. Way to end the 2 year update cycle on a total whimper.
@SurprisedRobinChu the Zelda voice actor's English performance is bad. And weird. And always sounds confused as to what emotions shes trying to to portray. Her fake English accent is off-putting and she often sounds kind of like an old woman to me. Maybe it's the direction given to her I don't know. I don't think that opinion makes anyone a misogynist. I love Zelda's Japanese voice acting a lot tho. Especially during the blood moon.
Awesome. Just purely awesome to hear this said out loud. Of course Nintendo is in different situation where they benefit from moms and dads and grand parents and aunts and uncles picking up physical games for kids on a whim while grocery shopping or at Walmart or target. Plus the physical games themselves really help push awareness of the console on system shelves. Even the most casual gamer or no. Gamer recognizes these names now and get their attention grabbed in these spaces
I've wanted more powerful hardware for some time now. But you know what I want less? The stress and scramble and waiting and checking and refreshing pages for Switch 2 stock availability. Sometimes I'm happy when it seems the Switch 2 is a ways off cuz of that.
@UltimateOtaku91 I heard that unlocking the last couple chapters require getting items from the completely randomized treasures...so it's potentially impossible due to the fact you can get the same items over and over
Always bothers me this site puts a subscribe to Nintendo Life border/CTA under your video links to videos you don't own. At a glance it makes it like "this is one of our channel videos and the kind of content we produce so subscribe to us." You do call them out in the article, but it's just in bad taste.
@smoreon Detailed graphics plus 30 fps PLUS 720p is a brain killer for me. It's why ive never finished a Xenoblade game on Switch despite loving them. I don't get motion sick but when I pan the camera it just makes me feel like eyes are going out of focus and will make my brain uncomfortable. I also in general shut off motion blur when that's an option, even though I hear from other people the blur helps for them when playing games. I play Fortnite on Series X at 120fps with no motion and my eyes and brain feel like they're on vacation, lol, compared to other games I'll play. Like right now Im trying to train my brain and eyes to be ok with Person 5 on Switch but I feel like it's not happening.
@Daggot try wearing a compression glove that has a sleeve on it. Not sure if this site will let me post a link but these are cheap and help. I use the large size. https://a.co/d/5YAZ6g3
@mswhom Weird I JUST posted above about my gf getting motion sick from 30 fps stuff when you have to move the camera around a bunch. For me, depending on the person perspective in the game, the modeling and effects and if the detail is dense, etc, 30 fps can make it harder for my eyes track certain stuff, especially if the frame pacing is off and or the resolution is lower (like the XBC 1 remaster, it doesn't make me motion sick but like makes it feel like my eyes are going in and out of focus and hurts my brain a bit).
@BodkinDQ You're eyes may not notice, but the quality of your tv would not make a difference in it's ability to display 30 vs 60 for example (old tube CRT tvs in the 80s ran NES games at 60, like SMB). Though the quality of your tv and refresh and blah blah can effect input delay, and maybe the overall picture is lesser. Maybe like you, my girlfriend, for example, does not see a visual difference between 30 and 60, whether it's a game or a tv show or movie or whatever - doesn't really notice stutter either. But I do notice that she gets motion sick easier when a game is 30 and you're moving the camera around a lot (we play escape room games together and she'll get kind of sick, when it runs at 30, after awhile especially if the frame pacing is off). Like has to lay down for a second.
@Samalik I think the shift happened before BotW by a few years...I think a lot of the time it has been an expectation of "what the game is/does" vs "it has to be 60." A giant open world game on Switch? 30fps seems fine. A sandbox 3d platform like Mario Odyssey? People were unhappy when some of the early trailers in 2017 seemed to run in 30 fps. Smash has been 60 since gamecube and people would have been upset if Ultimate was in 30. People are and have been more lenient with rpgs, but when the previous game had 60fps for TTYD and it has button timing mechanics, it makes sense why the expectation is different there. They did make the timing more forgiving in the new version supposedly.
@PikminMarioKirby Just one note on your Metroid Prime geometrical comment, YES BUT they did rebuild from scratch quite a lot of models and assets throughout, not just smoothed them out.
@OctolingKing13 120fps is the way to go for certain games, especially for shooters...but it's not that you see a difference between 120 and 60 (you can't really) - you FEEL the difference.
