One of things I praised Nintendo for was how amazing their customer service was. Not we're gonna get a situation like Xbox where it's absolutely awful and nearly impossible t talk to anyone on the phone.
@breach187 because one example is pandering built around a show built for pandering. The other is a random soap opera traditionally meant for moms or grandma's - it's random and awesome.
@TheExile285 I'm thinking a lot of companies just recently got kits. Inticreates announced yesterday they were doing a Switch 2 version for one other games. Also I think one issue has been, smaller companies aside, is that bigger companies did get dev kits but not enough for all their teams.
@Telcontyr agree with everything you're saying but would add that the Switch 2 isn't as powerful as the Series S in like raw CPU power but it's graphics architecture is more modern so if a publisher takes time, and it is the right kind of game, it could look better in many ways. Like SF6 looks better on Switch 2 for the 1v1. Also I think Nintendo made Retro throw in the open areas late int he game. I juuuuuuust got a feeling that Nintendo knew what they're 2025 lineup was turning out to be and was like oh crap we have 2 racing games and we need our breath of the wild moment in an adventure game this year. And yes when they did the closeups of her getting into the bike it knocked the wind out of me by how bad it looked. Truly worried about this game.
The issue here first and foremost before any discussions of open zone areas is just how bad and boring and empty and unappealing the desert area looked and the concerning fact that the way they highlighted it was a good idea. The whole trailer in general felt like a big visual downgrade in rendering and lighting and textures compared to what we've seen before
Switch 2 has had an issue with game releases. But it looks like now, thru this fall until next spring we will get constant and substantial releases. But the past few months since launch have been a bore.
@krogp the fact they are only selling this for 40 dollars and includes the dlc and is a game over 100 gb, this is literally the only instance where I'm not mad about the game key card.
This needs to be good. The hype around this system has fallen off a cliff. I keep forgetting my Switch 2 is new, everything I've been playing on it except Silksong has been my old Switch 1 games. Bored.
Actually loving the increased difficulty. I never finished Hollow Knight for a lot of reasons but am obsessed with Silksong. A tip for people having trouble. There's a place you can get to in the early game that gives you a quicker slash and changes the angled downward sword slash back to an improved version of the downward sword slash from the first game. You need to buy the 500 rosarie key from the shop. Then in the area above the settlement (you'll unlock an elevator and it's right above that) - you can make your way to left to find a door that needs a key. You need to sword bounce over enemies to cross an empty space to reach it. I did this before obtaining the dash, so I got it early, and it greatly improved the fun of the game
Weird conversation. For one, a long development time does not automatically mean it's a high cost product. A very small team, that is efficiently lead with no crunching and overtime pay for employees and hired freelances over the long term can mean that budget remains small (no matter what the Mario Kart World devs imply that their 7 year dev time means 80 dollars). Crunching always means higher expenses. Team Cherry also had the benefit of consent income into the company thru Hollow Knight. 20 bucks seems right tho I think they could have sold it at 25 without an issue
@Medic_alert the expectation and standard of games running at 60 fps is a big deal to me. I'm really sensitive to frame rates. everything feels more responsive, less blur and stuttering even in RPGs where you're just roaming around a map is so welcome to me. Growing up most games ran in 60 until the N64 and those low frame rates and blurry images turned me off from games for awhile tbh. And as far as image goes I'm more of a "fidelity of image" than high rez. I totally get the diminishing returns on console generation bumps, but ideally those 7.5 years on Switch felt bad sometimes and I just don't want that anymore.
@Medic_alert thats what you ideally get from a new console generation. Better image, better performance. And yes comparisons like this matter to some people. I remember being really disappointed in 2018 by how muddy looking Octopath was. 60 fps is nice in visual effect heavy games like this cuz there's smoother panning of the camera and backgrounds. Only Nintendo diedhards will make arguments like this stuff not mattering. So odd.
@Medic_alert because a lot of us over the years have been disappointed with the performance of games we've purchased? Because we just spent 450 dollars on a console that we'd expect some sort of improvement over the last gen model and are curious how a cross platform title performs?
The demo was awful. Bad frame rate, bad image fidelity, and worst of all awful awful AWFUL camera controls. Huge disappointment as I thought this looked good in preview footage.
I hate how whether it's a Pixar character, a sci Fi lead, a cool secret agent, a super hero etc they all have to have that same, cringey, sideways smirk. I wish they'd retire that.
@JohnnyMind I'm curious, you post this same comment a lot on different articles over months. It's always positive, but if you're not interested in what you are commenting on, why are you always commenting on it? Generally wondering.
@Medic_alert to counter your point I'd that most Switch 1 games ran worse over time. I think that's what people are responding to here when they worry about the Switch 2 already having trouble.
@AussieMcBucket as far as I know there have been at least two different versions of Sora. Sora LTD and Project Sora. Project Sora had a full team of people and made Uprising. But Sora existed before that and after that. The Sora LTD thing was a way to have him not just be a freelance hire for Nintendo, they were entering in a contract with a LTD, which he formed after Melee. I believe it's just him and his wife, that's why he's always partnering with Bandai Namco so there are actual bodies working for him. Also I know Hal isn't developing the game, but isn't it still technically a Hal game? It's like having GoodFeel do a Yoshi game and it's still a Nintendo game. Though obvious Nintendo and Hal co-own Kirby, so it's also a Nintendo game. I'll watch it again
@AussieMcBucket Sora is his studio (just him and his wife) who works for Hal or Nintendo usually with Bandai. Even look at the game profile under comments section, it lists Hal. He said the Hal president asked him to make this
@AussieMcBucket it's a Hal game and they are a second party dev., but they co-own Kirby with Nintendo. And it will be published by Nintendo. I have no idea what that makes this game lol.
@N00BiSH it was a 45 minute presentation. Why withhold at all? How does one build anticipation when it isn't implying there's more to show outside of the character at the end?
Underwhelming. 4 racing tracks and one city trial map? No story mode? Why even bother releasing this if you didn't have enough time to properly make it?
@Wood_Stick no. The issue is that this was obviously designed for VRR in docked mode and then wasn't supported last minute. I just don't get how you can't see the issues in docked mode. Are you playing the game on a small screen when docked?
@sixrings remains to be seen if this is disappointing or not. Might be a controversial opinion but I think the original Air Ride isn't that great. There were dev troubles with it, and Sakurai had to take over director responsibilities but still I don't know. They gotta really sell me on this.
@Wood_Stick I have tried both. The game is really choppy and blurry in any wide open spaces when docked. It's smooth with VRR and the blur is hidden in handheld.
@Wood_Stick I played for 25 hours - it does not run nice docked unless you are in a story mission that has you in rooms inside of a building in small spaces. The city runs like crap in general. It is headache inducing when in a car going fast. Outdoors, like in the desert look bad and run poorly. In handheld mode the VRR really smooths fps when running it and performance mode and the smaller screen hides how soft looking the game is on a big TV
I find it odd to be excited for a lot of these games, given their ports would probably look pretty rough. And be more expensive. And (for those who care) not be on physical media.
