@IceCatraz awesome. Played the original on Switch and it struggled...best news of the direct is I can play this on my series x and finish it without feeling sick from the frame rate and soft rez.
@batmanbud2 my only issue with Wonder is that is isn't "platformy" enough. Like I wish it made me jump more, lol, don't know how to describe what I mean. But I still REALLY enjoyed it. It was easy BUT you still had to pay attention. Really wish they'd release DLC for it.
@batmanbud2 there's a difference in what games are fun based on difficulty. With Forgotten Land there's a sense of wonder there and exploration and sight seeing. But when a puzzle game has zero challenge...its boring and feels like a chore where you have to go thru the motions. It's like washing dishes.
Game looks nice visually but I'm sure it'll have two huge things against it, 1) there is zero chance this won't be mind numbingly easy and 2) so many power ups that none of them will have a chance to really be fully explored in interesting ways.
Appreciate the review. Hard pass for me even though I loved DK 94. Don't understand why they'd make a puzzle game so easy (even for kids). An easy puzzle game is just sort of a chore. Real tired of Nintendo making most of their games brain numbingly easy. Put an actual veteran mode in your games! That's a massive part of your audience. Just take the time and money to build out that mode.
That's fine if it only has Japanese voice acting, almost always sounds better in Japanese given how high quality the talent is over there. Excited for this looks a lot closer to Ys VIII. I enjoyed IX but being trapped in the city for most of it was a mood killer.
@vio I disagree, Side Order exists outside of the 2 years of free updates promised to us and is a paid DLC for single player content. I just don't see how it counts.
@davetobin I think that can be true about rogue like/lites and that's a legit concern. However if a game is built around the concept right it can be a lot of fun. Binding of Isaac and Slay the Spire are absolutely wonderful and I have been addicted to them in the past (though they kept refreshing them with free updates). I'm uncertain if Splatoon will pull it off but am excited and nervous to try.
But but but are all the backgrounds the same or super similar in the stages? That's my biggest worry, that most of the settings are all gonna look the same. Watched the vid but didn't notice this being addressed.
@vio @AlexanderDaniels The whole second year of updates has been disappointing so far in new content and this one does seem the lightest. Only one new turf war stage is a huge let down. We don't get a lot so losing an additional stage is a punch in the gut, honestly. The DLC is its own PAID thing so that doesn't really count for the season update. The trailer didn't really seem to showcase/draw attention to a lot of new clothes (I think I saw 3) or emotes (at all) which means that likely the shops still won't be getting a general update...and now Im worried about the catalog. A new salmon run stage is always nice but usually that's in addition to new turf war maps. Only getting 1 new stage this time means next season we'll only get 1 as well, which is ultimately 2 less than we expected by the end of the 2 year updates.
Now if they include a lot of reworks and adjustments to the older year 1 stages in this update...I'd be fine with this content.

@Axecon Retro has zero say in what they can or cannot announce as how updates are going. That's Nintendo.
