Re: Here's Why Switch 2 Joy-Con And Pro Controllers Don't Have Analogue Triggers

Dang_69

@Yoshi3 1) Shooters are more popular on Xbox and PS because they run better there and or Nintendo consoles have been relatively weak and can't run a lot of those games. The consumer base is a little different too. 2) Lots and lots of people on those consoles buy Pro Controllers or Scuffs for trigger stops (and paddles). I have an Elite 2 controller on my series x for this reason. There's built in manual trigger stops to make the analog triggers act like digital inputs. In fact when I'd play shooters on my PS4 I'd cut zip ties up super tiny and super glue them to the backs of triggers so they wouldn't travel as far (rapid tapping of analog triggers sometimes messes up the input).3) the only solution thatd make everyone happy is to have analog triggers with manual trigger stops settings. My Elite controller has an off, medium and high setting. 4) to your point about Prime feeling more realistic with analog....I don't want my shooters to feel more realistic. Just responsive. Especially when playing against ppl online in other games

Re: Upgrade Pack Price For Zelda: BOTW And TOTK Has Been Confirmed

Dang_69

These games sold so much that these upgrades should have been free for performance stuff. They aren't reworking the game, just scaling up everything thru emulation. They sort of are free thru the Online sub, but I think most of these upgrades are just being priced (and jammed with ephemeral new content like Zelda gps) to just justify a new price for Switch 2 editions.

Re: Switch 2 Devs May Assign Specific Inputs To Pro Controller's Back Buttons

Dang_69

@Ramouz I prefer paddles because the little spring feeling and lack of stretching my fingers (especially on the Elite 2 controller) is much better for middle and ring finger responses but the buttons will be fine for switch 2 games since I won't play a lot of competitive stuff on there (don't need paddles for Splatoon since I use gyro and and only occasional need to tap my thumb on the right stick). Super curious to see how these feel. Confirmation of the back buttons and them keeping digital triggers was a big plus for me in the Direct. Worth ten more bucks.

Re: Switch 2 Devs May Assign Specific Inputs To Pro Controller's Back Buttons

Dang_69

For anyone that hasn't experienced mapping your jump button to a back paddle/button don't know what they're missing. It takes some getting used to but once you do, the freedom you gain with your right thumb, especially with being able to jump and use the right stick to still control the camera are in for a treat. I use 4 back paddles for Fortnite and it literally is a game changer.

Re: Nintendo Comments On Mario Kart World's Controversial Price

Dang_69

Not the time for them to play their cards so close to their chest with what else the game has to offer. They should have done what they've done with Smash Bros and held a special presentation immediately after the Direct versus having people wait and question the price and speculate the additional content until April 17th. When launching a pricey new system, with an expensive 80 dollar game they shouldn't be coy with the info, if they have more to show that'd blow our socks off. For me World looked very pretty but lacked anything NEW that made me salivate for the game. I don't know what the open world adds gameplay-wise and I'm tired of speculation in general.

Re: Rumour: Metroid Prime 4 Will Apparently Make Quite The Splash At The Switch 2 Direct

Dang_69

@PikminMarioKirby the Kiwi dude isn't a leaker. He has a podcast thing on YouTube where he interviews most anyone related to Retro (and Rare and Valve and others). The Retro interviews are extensive. I'm not sure how that small of a channel gets those interview with Retro (from the early days to I'd say about Tropical Freeze time) so he is somehow well connected and it is totally possible he could be in the know for something Retro connected. The channel is actually great and this "leak" would be a first for him far as I know.

Re: Mario + Rabbids Director Recalls "Harsh" Ubisoft Comment On 'Sparks Of Hope'

Dang_69

@GravyThief 3 million for Sparks. Kingdom battle is tricky, it's either 7.5 million or 10 million. But Ubisoft adds "unique players" to this Kingdom Battle number which I'm sure means "people who have downloaded the demo " but if you check wiki it says Kingdom Battle hit only 2 million (but that number is from 2018). If it was selling that many millions since 2018 Nintendo would have put it on the million seller annual reports but I don't remember seeing it so I'm confused.

Re: Mario + Rabbids Director Recalls "Harsh" Ubisoft Comment On 'Sparks Of Hope'

Dang_69

@GoldenSunRM @user0 I agree with both of you (and it's not a sentiment I've seen posted a bunch) that I felt Sparks of Hope was a downgrade. For me, the art direction lost it's charm from the first game. The first game looked like a Nintendo Mario game that happened to be made by Ubisoft whereas Sparks looked like a Rabbids Ubisoft game featuring Mario characters. Everything had that angular simplified generic Ubisoft style I hate. The fusion of Mario and Rabbids characters seemed to be dropped as well and there was a lot of "just goombas" and "new Rabbids characters without a Mario universe mashup." The open areas didn't add anything for me but extra tedium and padding between fights. I like how tight the first game was, being on a path, with secrets, and not having to search out battles. I also thought the loss of the traditional grid in battles left a lot of guess work as to how far enemy attacks would hit. Just felt too loose. I never got past the 60 percent mark in this game and traded it in cuz I got bored. I 100 percented the first game and the amazing dlc for it.

Re: Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door On Switch Has Already Outsold The GameCube Original

Dang_69

@mariomaster96 same here. After beating the tree dungeon was done with the game. Totally bored me and was way too chatty and repetitious.the dialog is good but just too much of it. And I found the pointless backtracking in that tree dungeon with all the Pikmin like things to be too much for me. Played Paper Mario 64 a few years ago again and didn't have that issue. Also found the rpg fights in it to be extremely basic.

Re: Braid: Anniversary Edition Sales Have Been "Utterly Terrible", Says Creator

Dang_69

In it's time Braid was important, an indie game with innovative gameplay at a time such things were only beginning. But it was quite ugly then to me, even tho I played it. It's still very very very ugly even in its remastered in 2024. Needed a better facelift to get sales. The novelty of it made it stand out at the time...but nowadays not so much.

Re: Poll: Do You Prefer Fire Emblem: Three Houses Or Engage?

Dang_69

3H without a doubt. Just finished Engage this month in fact! The story and character designs feel like fan fiction set in the FE universe written by middle schoolers. The story is absolutely that bad. Gets worse as it goes in. Also didn't like the maps as much. Also thought the music was inferior. People rant about how good the Engage gameplay was but there was stuff missing from 3H that I actually preferred. The only positive to Engage was bringing back emphasis to the weapons triangle.

Re: Capcom's Investors Want Monster Hunter Wilds On Switch, Because Of Course

Dang_69

@mlt they've done an ok job on Switch with 2 new MH games exclusive for a few years to the platform. Capcom was in such an awful place when Switch launched that they had to focus on making the best AAA experiences possible to save the company. Literally. They were in fear of being bought out. They had a string of awful games for years and a failure of a game engine they spent to much money on. No one knew the next Nintendo console wouldn't be a WiiU failure.

Re: Every Nintendo Switch Online NES Game Ranked

Dang_69

@MontyCircus cant believe RC Pro Am is so high on here. Hated that game as a kid. However I played it a lot because you played whatever you had lol. Only had so many games back then and had to switch it up. Battletoads may be actually playable with save states and rewind. That would be great for NSO

Re: Japanese Charts: Luigi's Mansion 2 HD Vacuums Up The Competition In Its Debut Week

Dang_69

@SBandy1 I don't think M8 Deluxe was low effort at all as it also added a proper battle mode, new maps for it l, all the dlc etc. My point was that EVEN that game in 2017 had discussion around the 60 dollar point. Whereas nowadays ppl completely accept and root for something low effort and premium priced with little discussion as to the ramifications of supporting something like this. Also I agree that 3d world was worth the 60. Also think Xenoblade Remastered was worth it. I'm not so hot on Skyward Sword tho. The way AI upscaling is used in it feels pretty lazy. But they did rework some stuff in the game. Not sure it is 60 bucks worth tho. I'm sure I'll chat with ya again when DKC Returns gets released at 60, lol.

Re: Japanese Charts: Luigi's Mansion 2 HD Vacuums Up The Competition In Its Debut Week

Dang_69

@SBandy1 well said. It's interesting how consumer opinions have flipped during the Switch gen. In 2017 I remember people debating if MK8 Deluxe had enough "new" content added to it to warrant a 60 dollar price tag. People became so personally tied to the success of the Switch and Nintendo this generation like it's their own personal triumph. Just find it odd to champion lower effort/ full priced ports like this.

Re: Round Up: The Previews Are In For Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition

Dang_69

I just can't believe there isn't a mode where you they string different games together - multiple challenges across multiple games in a row. Also can't believe they didn't at the very least port the remixes from Nintendo Remix as extra content. This whole thing feels rushed. Also imagine if they tossed in a Mario 35 style mode....maybe across multiple Mario games. I'd pay 100 USD for all that!

Re: Game Freak Launches A New Mobile Title, But It's Not Pokémon

Dang_69

@rjejr if Lego made a Mario in partnership with Nintendo there is no reason to think it'd be contingent on being on non Nintendo platforms. If you're thinking of this because of the Lego Horizon game that's a different situation. As far as Sony goes...the Horizon ip doesn't have the clout of a Mario so I'm sure they're thinking that worse case scenario they might grow the audience for the IP a bit. Legos audience is young so they prob pushed for that Horizon being on a Nintendo console as well so they'd maximize profits. Lego doesn't have that issue on a Nintendo console. Even Lego City was a WiiU exclusive for a time. And that console was a failure. The more I think about it the more sure I am this will happen.

Re: Here's A Closer Look At The 'Echoes' In The New Zelda Game For Switch

Dang_69

Wondering if this is a clever idea for the sake of them coming up with a clever idea. I'm feeling like how indirect the combat seems to be may be a total bummer after a short while with the game. If we got 2D Zelda games every couple years I wouldn't sweat it. But we don't. Been 5 years and that was a remake. Of course I'm buying and trying this...but I'm getting the feeling this might not be for me.

Re: Game Freak Launches A New Mobile Title, But It's Not Pokémon

Dang_69

@rjejr I disagree - I feel like Lego working with a Nintendo up is no different than Ubisoft doing it. Also the Lego brand holds a level of respect and prestige...they're sort of the Nintendo of toys as far as respect and all ages enjoyment goes (and remember Nintendo was a toy company and still have that in their DNA) and they have a strong relationship with each other with how well all the Nintendo retail logos are going (insaneeeee in Target how many there are now). When I saw the Lego Horizon game I was like...we are absolutely getting from Lego and Nintendo as a game in the future. If they did a Nintendo IP crossover game it'd be HUGE to all ages and be a big deal. Imagine a Nintendo Lego City.
