Re: Rumour: GameCube Revival Planned For Nintendo Switch Online

Cia

Not interested. Metroid Prime was the best game on the console and we already have the Prime Remaster. In addition Pikmin 1 and 2 and Super Mario Sunshine were already released for the Switch.

The two interesting games would be Prime 2 and F- Zero X, but that's about it.

Re: Here's A Closer Look At The 'Echoes' In The New Zelda Game For Switch

Cia

Gimmick for the sake of gimmick. Based on the intro, the story will be as barebones as it gets. Zelda go save Link from Ganon. The only difference is Link and Zelda switching places.

I can already predict the final battle. Ganon will also use echoes against Zelda. Wow, never saw that coming.

Then again, I don't really care about the top down games. Unless Yoshiaki Koizumi were to write them, but no. Nintendo's greatest writing talent has been forced to make Mario games for the rest of his life.

Re: The Legend Of Zelda: Echoes Of Wisdom Estimated Switch File Size Revealed

Cia

This is obviously not the next big Zelda game. The development time was like one year. It's just something for Zelda fans since the wait for the next main chapter will be long.

Personally I don't find the game appealing. Despite the fact EoW lends its whole look from Link's Awakening, I doubt this game will be nowhere near as engaging. I couldn't imagine a more boring way to start the game: Zelda is captured by Ganon the Cartoon Villain and Hero Link comes to save. The gimmick is Link falls in dark dimension and Zelda leads the show.

Compared to the mystical narrative of LA, the story here feels like a complete afterthought. Even the cover looks like a cheap photoshop job.

I just hope they don't make the puzzles too easy since there are many ways to solve them. Breaking the game is only fun when there are enough set limitations.

Developers have always been able to break their own games. Cheat engines and such are one example. Thing is, limitations have always existed for a good reason. A journey is not fun if you can just fly over the mountain (looking at TotK.) Same goes to building endless amounts of beds or boxes to climb up. This is not innovation. Aonuma is literally breaking the series, and he doesn't even realize it :/

Re: Soapbox: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Won't Be The Franchise's 'BOTW Moment', And That's Okay

Cia

@BlublacMH
MP4 is not necessarily better than MP1, even though I think it really should be after the wait.
@theGamerPad
Prime 1 was not the series BotW moment. It was the OOT moment as the first 3d game in the series.

Prime 1 was released in 2002, more than a decade before BotW. It's not an open world, "do what you want" kind of game. The "BotW moment" of the series is still in the future if MP4 doesn't surprise us.

Re: The Legend Of Zelda: Echoes Of Wisdom Overworld Sure Looks Familiar, But Is It?

Cia

@Papasears1982
Same here. It looks like the developers got too excited for TotK's building aspect and decided to redesign it for a new game. Even the submenu is back.

Then again, this game is obviously a side chapter and not a new big Zelda game. I just hope they ditch the building aspect after this game.

@RonF
If it was the same map again it would be incredibly boring. This game already looks like it isn't too interesting in terms of exploration. I can already imagine how every village and area will look like, which is not fun. The whole point of exploration should be "surprise."

Re: Gallery: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Is Looking Absolutely Stunning On Switch

Cia

I don't know about the war scenes. Makes it look like a generic FPS. I hope it's just the intro. Otherwise the game looks pretty good, though. It's just we've waited this a long time and it looks like the gameplay is identical with the previous three Metroid Prime games. I hope they can awe and surprise us somehow and preferably without gimmicks.

Re: Talking Point: Would You Want Quality And Performance Options For Nintendo's 'Switch 2' Games?

Cia

No, I don't want annoying options like this. I would just be switching between the modes constantly. We didn't need it before, we don't need it now.

As for the whole 60 fps 4k resolution thing, it's a collective psychosis among gamers with OCDs. The only games that are better running at 60 fps are racers and FPS games, and such Nintendo games already achieve that.

Cinematic adventure games actually look better running at 30 fps. Same goes for movies since directors make them run at 26 fps intentionally.

Re: Random: Zelda: Breath Of The Wild Tops GQ's 100 Greatest Games Of All Time

Cia

@NIN10DOXD
I don't understand the hardcore nostalgia towards the old 3d Zelda games. I completed them all back in the day, but compared to BotW they suck! Going back feels clunky with dated game design and the only games that can compete musically or in anyway are OOT and MM.

TP, WW and SS are mediocre and boring games. I think the whole series would be better without them, honestly. BotW is the game the developers always wanted to make according to themselves. It's no wonder it tops most lists, such as the ones from IGN, Edge Magazine and this.

Re: Poll: So, Do You Prefer Zelda: Breath Of The Wild Or Tears Of The Kingdom?

Cia

BotW makes TotK look like ugly mess with bad controls.

Just because TotK has "more" everything doesn't make it automatically better. It feels like 90% of it is filler.

The worst thing after the ability wheel, sage controls and the stop- and go gameplay with arrows are the weapons. Most of BotW's great looking weapons were removed or replaced with decayed crap you need to fuse on, and if it happens to be a sword say goodbye for the sheathe after fusing.

It even looks worse than BotW. Grass is all jagged and the apparent "better" draw distance makes distant landmarks look uglier. The clutter doesn't help either.

The cherry on the top is the fact you can just cheese almost every shrine by using bombs or rocket shields. What's the point of making a puzzle if the player can just run past it?

It's annoying when people say BotW is "better because it was more impactful." No, it's better because it's a BETTER GAME in most aspects that really matter.

Re: Soapbox: How Zelda's Bad Economy Made Weapon Degradation Great Again

Cia

The worst example of useless rupees was Twilight Princess. Every chest contained either rupees or heart piece. And you almost never needed to use the rupees for anything. The game was also so pathetically easy you really didn't need the heart pieces either outside of those you get from bosses.

In BotW you constantly needed rupees for arrows and opening the great fairies, and in TotK you'd better have some cash everytime you need to upgrade armorsets. Hearts are needed so you don't get killed instantly by stronger enemies, because unlike the earlier game they can actually hit 10 + hearts away from you if you haven't upgraded armor. In the older games enemies were much weaker.

I also like the fact there's more than rupees and heartpieces in chests.

As for weapon breaking it's a great game mechanic, imo, because it guarantees you're not using the same boring sword all the time.

That being said, TotK did it even better because you can repair the weapons if you want.

Re: GTA 6 On 'Switch 2' Would Be "Very Tricky To Pull Off", Says Digital Foundry

Cia

It doesn't really matter. The next Zelda for Switch 2 will look like it's at least a generation ahead of the console's tech. TotK shouldn't have been able to run on the normal Switch either.

@rotekps_aniger
RDR was a ps3 game originally. It's no wonder it runs without problems on the Switch. As for "GTA 6 can run on N64... I don't know what to say Even if it was somehow possible, it's not gonna be even remotely the same game at that point.

Re: Zelda Producer Responds To Fans Who Want A More "Traditional Linear" Adventure

Cia

I don't think I can ever get tired of the open world formula, since the next game has a whole new world and tricks etc.

The old, linear formula, though. No more of that, thank you. It got so predictable and tiring.

As for the dungeons the old ones had more simple puzzles we've seen in a million game and they weren't really longer than the new ones, so I really don't get them why some people miss them so much.

Re: Zelda Boss Says A "Direct Sequel" To Tears Of The Kingdom Is Unlikely

Cia

It's obvious the next Zelda will have completely new mechanics, artstyle and musical direction.

The only thing common with BotW and TotK will be the fact it's open world. And possibly Link's climbing ability.

Besides, TotK's story had a definitive ending. Ganondorf who was also the Source of earlier Calamities was destroyed. There's no more story for this version of Zelda.

Re: Best Mario RPGs Of All Time

Cia

By the way I loved Sticker Star. Despite getting permanently stuck.

Even though Super Paper Mario is my favorite, I don't think any of these games should get less than a 7,5/ 10 rating.
