Re: Eiji Aonuma On Zelda Tears Of The Kingdom: Expect New Gameplay That Will Change The Game World

I alredy wrote this: the crafting system may have ruined Banjo because they took off the adventure elements from nuts and bolts in favor of crafting.

This is not the case in Zelda. All the elements of adventure are still there. The crafting system simply deepens what was before in BotW, and probably bring new mechanics on the table.

The NES Zelda was the first open world game ever, likely. BotW was a sandbox adventure game and TotK will follow it. We won't be getting any more OOT clones. That formula was spent to the point of boredom.

The modern Zelda is all about seamless open world where you can do almost anything.

THAT is the future of the series. Otherwise games like GTA and RDR would be the leading franchises in terms of gameplay. Nintendo knows Zelda needs to be on the top and going back to old game design would ruin everything.

I come from the commodore 64 generation. You know why my grammar is bad? Because my native language is not English and I write FAST.

In any case, all my points still stand. Comparing nuts and bolts to Totk is a poor comparison which will be obvious when the game launches. If not, I'm willing to eat my words.

Oh yeah, I edited my post preceding this about why nuts and bolts ruined Banjo, and why the crafting system won't ruin Zelda. It should be obvious but anyway.

In other words you misunderstood my original post. The only thing I was mistaken was that you can't get off your vehicle, but then again that was formulated as a guess. Besides, if the hub is the only place you can move without your vehicle, it's very different from Zelda. Even if you can get off your vehicle in the levels, the structure is still very different from Zelda. As far as I know, there's not much you can do when you're not riding the vehicle.

I think its obvious from the trailer alone there won't be a separate menu screen for vehicle crafting in TotK. You can do it whenever in the overworld.

Why would this crafting system ruin Zelda? You realize Nuts and Bolts flopped because they took off the adventure aspect in favor of crafting. This will not happen in the case of Zelda. The system simply deepens stuff you can do in Hyrule.

Re: Eiji Aonuma On Zelda Tears Of The Kingdom: Expect New Gameplay That Will Change The Game World

@YoshiF2
You can build anything freely in the overworld? To me it looks like the actual building is done in a workshop screen, which is essentially a menu screen. Have I mistaken? Because that's how they do it in every video. So, can you or can you not build stuff in the overworld, out from the workshop screen?

And the overworld where you can move? What exactly can you do in that place? Collect the parts and build them in that menu screen? What other things can you do in the overworld? Are there levels in the game or not and if yes, what does the overworld have to do with it?

I haven't played the game myself but what I've seen it doesn't look like TotK at all.

Nuts and Bolts is an obscure game and everyone is comparing it to Link's new open world adventure because there is a mechanic that- on the surface- allows you to build similar contraptions. The How is likely very different, though.

I bet these comparisons are made just to bring TotK down. I saw a comment here stating "Zelda Nuts and Bolts is Goty? Laughable." or something like that, proving my suspicions.

Re: Eiji Aonuma On Zelda Tears Of The Kingdom: Expect New Gameplay That Will Change The Game World

Cia

It wouldn't be the first time Zelda series changes gaming. The original NES Zelda, OOT and BotW had previously done this. That being said, I doubt the impact will be as big this time.

The "Banjo: Nuts and Bolts"- comparisons are stupid, people. Have you guys even played that game? Go to youtube and see how it actually works. You can't build anything freely. There is no overworld where you could move. Banjo has a separate "garage" menu screen for building stuff and it's a level- based game. I don't know if you can even get off your vehicle. Tears of the Kingdom's crafting system doesn't really look similar at all.

Re: Feature: Which Zelda Game Has The Best Link? - Every Link Ranked From Worst To Best

Cia

My order would be this:

1. Ocarina of Time Link is the only one who grows up.

2. Majora's Mask link gets depth because the npc relationships are so damn good in the game. He also gets additional "personalities" by wearing the masks.

3. Wind Waker Link is just so cute and has this childlike wonder- kind of personality.

4. Twilight Princess Link has his additional wolf persona.

5. Breath of the Wild Link has a clear backstory defining him. He's the only Link who is "mute" for a reason.

6. Link's Awakening Link's trippy quest is bittersweet.

7. Skyward Sword Link is... heroic? From this point down are the lower tiers. Most Links are mainly just proxies for the player, even though somehow Link still feels like Link in every game, and not a no-personality.

Re: Bowser Defends $70 Zelda Pricing, Nintendo Still "Very Bullish" About Switch

Cia

Jim Sterling will give it a bad review because the price is slightly higher.

But for real, it's just 10 dollars. The game will probably be ahead of the competition anyway, so I see no problem with the price reflecting on that. If it was 80 or 90 dollars, now that would be a problem because the difference would be too blatant.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (March 11th)

Cia

@Nf157
I really recommend getting at least all the party members and heroes and doing their ascensions quests so that you can get every class to lvl 20. Otherwise you may lose almost half of the actual story content and also 50% of character developments. Hurrying through the game gave many players a lacking lasting impression of the game.

Re: 50 Best Nintendo Switch Games So Far

Cia

Nice to see Xenoblade 3 in top 5.
My list would look something like this:
1. Xenoblade 3
2. Zelda: Breath of the Wild
3. Metroid Prime Remastered
4. Metroid Dread
5. Monster Hunter Rise

Re: Review: Metroid: Other M (Wii)

Cia

I'm glad this game is just a spin-off and not a numbered entry. I would rate the 2d Metroids like this:
Metroid: 7/10
Metroid 2: 7.5/10
Metroid 3: 10/10
Metroid 4: 10/10
Other M: 5/10
Metroid 5 : 10/10

Re: PSA: Watch Out, Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Art Book Spoilers Have Leaked Online

Cia

Checked every leaked page from various sites. There's more than 200 pages so don't fool yourself if you checked only from one source; it is a big leak. And it is pretty bad. It's even possible to guess certain story beats from it.

The trailers really were just scratching the surface, so Darwin award goes to those who thought the game was nothing but a BotW dlc pack.

It should've been obvious it's gonna be a new game if it takes 6 years to develop...

Re: Best Metroid Games Of All Time

Cia

My top list

1. Metroid Prime (remastered or not)
2. Metroid Dread
3. Metroid Fusion
4. Metroid Prime 2
5. Super Metroid
6. Metroid Prime 3
7. Metroid: Samus Returns
8. Metroid: Other M
9. Metroid 2: Return of Samus
10. Metroid

Re: Nintendo Wins "Switch Joy-Con Drift" Class Action Lawsuit

Cia

@gergelyv
Nintendo leads the competition. The Switch is silent so I don't know what you're talking about. It keeps no noise at all. And the games load immediately, especially if you continue a game from sleep mode. As for the controllers, why not get a pro controller? You will never have issues with it and it's been many times rated as the best controller. But for all means, get rid of Nintendo and go play Pc games or something. We will be enjoying the best games ever in the mean time.

Re: Review: Metroid Prime Remastered - A Long-Awaited And Stunning Return Of A Legend

Cia

One more thing about the review: it says you're unable to move while aiming when using the classic setup? That's not true. You clearly don't know how to use those controls properly. I also think most gamers who disliked the original controls didn't really even learn how to use them.

It's pain in the ass to change beams when using the dual stick setup so I think I'll be using the classic then. It's just so much easier to fly through the areas when you can change beams on the move with the right stick.

Re: Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Trailers May Hide Hieroglyphic Hints

Cia

@Lizuka
I thought BotW felt grand when I played it the first time. That includes the narrative. It's got talent to create what feels like an epic using just a few words. Then again, anyone can write page after page stuff about dragons and elves and lizard people and... yawn... reminds me of all those readable books from Skyrim :/

Re: Feature: 9 Unanswered Questions We Have About Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom

Cia

There will not be (collectable) koroks or shrines in the game. The entire game takes place in Hyrule. The landscapes have been greatly altered and there are underground sections in addition to floating islands. Actually, there are holes to underground where the islands popped up in the sky by the malice. Malice is also pouring out from Death Mountain and other areas, and the player has to make it stop by completing the ug sections. It doesn't rain as often as in BotW. Sheikah Slate is history, Link uses his artificial magic hand to turn back time for objects and such. The 7 Tears are main collectibles from dungeons or floating isles, not some substitute for Koroks. All this is obvious. I'm not sure whether the durability system has been altered or not.

Re: Review: Fire Emblem Engage - Relationships Get Sidelined By A Thrilling Combat-First Focus

Cia

Was the social simulator aspect really that good in three houses? All I remember was eating meals and participating hymns with the same characters with same dialogue every time. Because you want to use same ones to get a waifu.

Besides, why would anyone want this game to be exactly the same as 3h? It's a new game with NEW stuff. Isn't that better? I feel like some reviewers gave a bad score just because it wasn't the same friggin game.

In my opinion, 3h had a very lackluster story, not counting Edelgard's betrayal and Dimitri's madness. The pacing was all over the place. I think Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn were far superior games.

If Engage is for the older fans, I'm pretty sure I'm gonna love it. I'm sure it's better than 3h but we'll see.

Re: Feature: Fire Emblem Narratives, Ranked – Which Fire Emblem Has The Best Story?

Cia

Path of Radiance has the best story, followed by Radiant Dawn. Three Houses has a bad pacing due character's teleporting around from the monastery. I'm glad they fix this in FE Engage by making the hub area a floating one. I've been missing the sense of progression from games like PoR. I think Engage will combine the best from old and new FE games.
