Re: Accessory Manufacturer Genki Responds To Nintendo's Switch 2 Lawsuit

Bret

Why are we rewriting Genki's history of making gaming accessories as them being "a drop shipping company"? I'm really confused here. I've backed multiple Genki products on kickstarter and had no complaints, and their portable switch dock was one of the most solid additions I ever made to that console in general!

Re: Mulitple Profie Icons Revamped In Latest Switch Firmware Update

Bret

Seeing the DK designs right next to each other like this... That new design has really grown on me quickly. It's so much more expressive, and that's for one of the most expressive characters in Nintendo's arsenal!

@YunoboCo a TRUE fan would continue to support him even after his plastic surgery.

Re: Talking Point: What Do We Actually Want From 'Mario Kart 9'?

Bret

@batmanbud2 Yeah, I know folks love Horizon. Personally I've never played it. I was just so bothered in Burnout Paradise by needing to drive to the starting line of every event instead of just selecting it from a menu. Frustrated with one Crash Mode level and want to try a different one for a bit? Can't just select a different one, gotta drive around to find it. I miss menus!

Re: PlayStation Is Bringing MLB The Show 25 To Nintendo Switch This March

Bret

This is the first entry that skipped PS4/XB1. I have to wonder how this'll be reflected in the Switch performance. Are the PS5/XBS versions going to be held back by the fact that it's also on a Switch console that's significantly less powerful than the generation this is skipping?

@dkxcalibur RIP Brian Matusz

Re: Pokémon TCG Pocket Trainer Drops $1,500 To Collect Every Single Card

Bret

I recently got a Hypno, the final pokemon missing from my Kanto dex, to get the secret card. I'm missing three from the base set right now - Articuno, Snorlax, and Machamp EX. I've spent about $100 and am not proud of that. But I only have 31 of the full art cards. There's 60 total. No way am I striving to get every full art card.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Mario & Luigi: Brothership?

Bret

It's pretty nuts that when you open Settings, the literal only option is to turn rumble on or off. No audio options (I'd love to knock down voice lines by just a tick or two), no option to control Luigi with B in battle like the rest of the series, literally just rumble. It's enough to knock it from a 9 to an 8 for me.

Re: Random: 'Nintendo Music' Is Seemingly Being Advertised On Spotify

Bret

@-wc- It's really not a competitor. It only offers Nintendo music, because of course it does. That makes it compete with spotify as a source for Nintendo music, but not as a source for music. Spotify won't even notice the loss of the miniscule percentage of people who only listen to Nintendo music.

Re: Feature: What Pokémon Could Learn From Zelda: Echoes Of Wisdom

Bret

@shiftbarackyeaugh That's Nintendo and TPC pushing them to release more games so they can make more merch. I'm certain Game Freak wishes they had more time so they could actually finish their games, but they're under contract to deliver under specific timeframes.

@JohnnyMind I missed this article the first time around. That's ridiculous! The perfect Fire Emblem, if you ask me, was Awakening. I really miss when you could just select things from a menu between battles instead of having to run through a mostly empty hub world from activity to activity.

Re: Round Up: The Previews Are In For Mario & Luigi: Brothership

Bret

I continue to be shocked by people's reactions to the art style in this game. It's charming the hell out of me and I consider it the best the bros have ever looked in a video game, but in every article there's people in the comments bashing the art direction, saying things from "it looks like a fan game" to just "yikes". I truly don't get it.

Oh, well. I'll just wait for the New Frame Plus video on the game so I can listen to someone who appreciates character animation as much as (or, who am I kidding, way WAY more than) me.

Re: Alarmo Has "Sold Out" At Nintendo's New York Store

Bret

I went to that store last month, was visiting NYC to see a Bomb the Music Industry and Good Luck show. Was a lot smaller than I expected, or at least it had a lot less stock on shelves than I expected. The decor was lovely, but they could have packed a hell of a lot more in there.

I left with a fuzzy Pawmi and a little pink Pikmin.

Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For The Legend Of Zelda: Echoes Of Wisdom

Bret

@HammerKirby That's because Toad being powerful wouldn't make sense. He's intended to be an everyman. Meanwhile Zelda has always had access to magic so it's a bit strange that now that she's alone, she is unable to use any of it. I mean this woman was able to hold Ganon at bay. It's not going to ruin the game or anything, but I totally get that feeling that she should be able to do a bit more.
