@Takoda I was trying to be snarky with so many variations of the same theme, but yeah, there's absolutely powerful musical moments in these games. The first time I heard Kass as I was ascending Gerudo tower was so overwhelmingly beautiful to me that I was welling up with tears as I climbed and just listened to him play for a long while before finally speaking to him.
Headline: Nintendo Believes Successor Announcement Will Have "Zero Impact" On Switch Sales Article: "We do not think the announcement of the successor to Nintendo Switch and future related communications will have zero impact on Nintendo Switch sales."
I mean... come on. I know half the comments are already saying this same thing, but come on.
Oh god no. A third dimension adds so much complexity that folks are not ready to take on. Slopes alone are potentially so complex that it's a big ask to create something as "simple" as, say, Bob-Omb Battlefield. There would have to be significant limitations on so much of the tools to ensure things would keep working that the whole thing would just feel like unfilled potential. To me it feels like a complete non-starter.
@Tyranexx Just play it now! The 3DS had already been out for over a year when it came out, so it was born behind the times. Really unfortunate for such a great game.
@XiaoShao I still put Bravely Default way over Legend of Legacy. At least the name Bravely Default couldn't be applied to every single JRPG ever made. It's named after the unique battle mechanic central to the game. Practically every JRPG ever could be named Legend of Legacy and it'd make sense. Calling it "vanilla" would be too kind, because vanilla is at least a taste. It's carbon dioxide. It's specks of dust floating in the air. It's empty space.
@Chibi_Manny I really don't think it "says" anything at all.
The same set of glyphs doesn't translate to both "Urban Redevelopment Plan" and "Paldea Realty Flagship Building", it's just a set of glyphs they've used before that ultimately are nonsensical. It's not a language or alphabet, just some shapes.
Legend of Legacy is the most un-name I've ever seen for a video game. Untitled Goose Game is a much better title than this. Triangle Strategy is a better title than this. Soccer (NES) is a better title than this, even if you'd personally rather call it Football. Hell, even Labyrinth of Refrain: Coven of Dusk is a better title than this. This is barely a step above just calling it Japanese Role-Playing Game.
@Glasso Yeah, that's exactly what I did for my longest run from the tarot to planets to even the voucher - then ran into the boss blind that debuffs a suit and it was over. Most of my deck was black and clubs got debuffed.
@FantasiaWHT I adore this game and can't get enough, but you've got a great point on straights vs. flushes. They get even easier when you get the smeared joker - clubs=spades and hearts=diamonds with that thing in hand. I haven't come across a joker that makes straights easier aside from the one that makes both straights and flushes only require four cards.
@RBRTMNZ You and I look at that situation differently. To me, that just means I didn't plan well enough - I should've let myself have more of a range in approach knowing that that boss blind was possible at any moment. There's also ways to reroll/disable boss blinds.
@RBRTMNZ Until you run into a boss blind that screws you over. I poured everything into black flushes in one run (there's a joker that makes hearts=diamonds and clubs=spades), then ran into a boss blind that debuffed all clubs. My strategy that was winning me nearly every round in one hand was suddenly completely sealed off, and I lost brutally.
This game is amazing! I've been playing it nearly nonstop, interrupted by some bouts of Pocket Card Jockey, for the past several days. I can't stop thinking about it when I'm at work. It's incredible how much depth they put into this simple concept.
@SwitchForce Except that was always the plan with Funimation, they announced it when the merger happened, and the weird part was that it took them two years to do it after the fact. I was annoyed that they were still charging for both platforms separately even though Sony owned both.
@cchhaasseerr It's not a 3DS port, the game had a complete graphical overhaul to go from 3DS to Apple Arcade, which is the version Switch got. It's practically a full remake.
And for what it's worth, I personally haven't noticed anything significantly slow down at all. There's even a speed up button that I've never clicked off.
@Poodlestargenerica Why would I want someone to be paid for their work instead of not being paid for it? Gee, that sure is a question worth pondering. You've really made me think on that one.
Also, you don't know a damn thing about me. I am a creative, I could link you to my friggin' Fiverr page where I've made hundreds off commissions. That is something I do in my spare time, yes, because it's not what I do for a living. 99% of the video games you've ever played were made by people who DO make video games for a living. Do you think that they were all made by people with full time jobs outside of video game creation? Some of them were. Of course you can list examples. But most were not.
You talk as if people can just quit what they're doing and make video games out of love for the game and have absolutely no regard for money. Is it my turn to make a sweeping generalization about you? I bet you've never had a worry about money in your life, and you just coast on your parents' cash and don't even need to work. What? I'm wrong? Wow, maybe you shouldn't make assumptions about people based on one thing you read.
@bluemage1989 This is literally the first time I've ever see anyone express anything but love for Disco Elysium. It's not rubbish, you just didn't like it.
@Rainbowfire Because this is what Nintendo does after their massive successes.
DS sells over a hundred million? Make a 3DS. Wii sells over a hundred million? Make a Wii U. Switch sells over a hundred million, what do you guess will happen?
@Sisilly_G Nothing beats that 12 player mode. Throwing the wii remote at each other across the room depending on who came up as the game got faster and faster was incredibly stupid fun.
I was so disappointed by the previous pastels, with the pink packaged with yellow and the purple packaged with green and no other options. So I either had to get my first and fourth favorites or second and third. I went with the pink and yellow and that seems like such a waste now, but I'm still getting these ones hahaha
@superguy123 Good thing they didn't use AI to design their monsters then. The rumor came out of absolutely nowhere. There's a tweet in Japanese that's been circulating, but it has absolutely nothing to do with Palworld. As far as the CEO's comments, they have used AI in the past on other projects, but not Palworld.
@EarthboundBenjy Maybe. Could also simply be that he doesn't have much more to say on the platform. Smash fans looooove to "confirm" something based on very little, don't fall into the trap.
@Princess_Lilly Same blaring synths, same drum beat with that horrid snare sound, over and over among like every rock/pop artist. It's soooo repetitive. Not a style I enjoy.
Gotta be Crazy Taxi for me. Closer I can get to recreating that fast paced Burnout 3 feel, the better. But looking at this poll right now, no option is below 10%. I think that's really impressive, lots of interest for all sorts of games.

@Takoda I'm looking at the tracklist from a TOTK soundtrack video on youtube, and there's a TON of tracks! Here's a sampling...

@Bret Fully agree with this smart and attractive commenter.
Re: Balatro Is Getting Its First Major Update
@-wc- Don't worry. The higher stakes are still gonna be nutso.
Personally, I'm thrilled about getting a joker in the first shop guaranteed.

@Cleefuzz Exactly the same here. Can't complain too much about its placement. I love that game, and seeing it get some love here is awesome.

Yes!!! I know I've directly caused at least four of those purchases lol

Re: Talking Point: What Do You Want To See From The Next Super Mario Bros. Movie?
Ugh, just let the music be from the Mario series. No popular music. Everyone loves Mario music!
Also put Wario in it and let me voice him.

Pokemon Works?! I sure hope it does!

Re: Your 'Nintendo Switch Year In Review 2023' Stats Are Available Now
37 games, 236 hours:
TotK: 126 hours
Dead Cells: 27 hours
Pokemon Violet: 19 hours
Game Boy (almost entirely Pokemon TCG): 12 hours
Risk of Rain Returns: 10 hours
Nothing else over 3 hours. RoRR came out on November 12th, so having it be fifth is pretty amusing to me.
