Re: Poll: What Did You Think Of The February 2023 Pokémon Presents, Then?

Bret

I had three expectations going in - A gameboy pokemon game or two for NSO, S/V DLC, and a bunch of mobile game news for stuff I don't play and hence don't care about. Two of those expectations were met. Kind of a nothing Pokemon Presents since they didn't really show much of the DLC, but I'm glad it's coming.

Why does everyone here get so angry over the mobile games, though? Seriously. Just ignore it if it's not for you. You don't need to spend energy being mad that Pokemon Masters EX exists. It's not worth it.

Re: Round Up: Everything Announced At The February 2023 Pokémon Presents Showcase

Bret

@Magician You are never going to play this downloadable content anytime soon if you don't want to, well, download it. Sword and Shield don't have a cartridge with the DLC included, so Scarlet and Violet definitely won't, at least not before Sw/Sh do. I doubt there are ANY first party Switch games that have been re-released with DLC packaged in (not counting ports from an earlier system). Your insistence on everything you play being physical is only making you miss out on games now.

I understand the desire to ensure you'll always be able to access certain content no matter what happens, but unfortunately modern gaming is not going to go back to that style. Have fun with this DLC when Scarlet and Violet get remade in 15 years.

My sister and I loved Yoshi's Story growing up. That game is super important to me.

Also, I love Sean Lennon and the Claypool Lennon Delirium. I hope they get back together to record more material soon.

Re: Pokémon Scarlet & Violet Version 1.2.0 Launching "Late February", Here Are The Full Patch Notes

Bret

@Vexx234 "Should we maybe wait and spend more time before releasing?"

"Nah, we couldn't possibly afford to recoup the losses to Nintendo, The Pokemon Company, Studio OLM, Takara Tomy, and anyone else who's got advertising material, trading cards, anime, toys, and anything else with the Pokemon name on it ready to be released. At least the game runs. We'll just have to patch it later."

I'm not happy with the performance either, but more than anything else I wish the merchandising machine would let off the gas a bit so the games could actually be completed. Game Freak basically isn't allowed to delay the game even if they wanted to.

Re: Best Metroid Games Of All Time

Bret

Federation Force may be a hidden gem, but it was never going to succeed. It had been six years since Metroid fans had gotten a game, another three years since they'd gotten a good game, and then Nintendo rewards their patience with... a co-op spinoff. I'm a bit shocked by Samus Returns' low placement because it was the first good Metroid since Prime 3 in 2007, but above it are nothing but bangers too, so...

Re: Every Nintendo Switch Online Game Boy (Color) Game Ranked

Bret

@delt75 ALL the games? Frankly that's a ridiculous expectation. Do you think ports are something that a dev just snaps their fingers to miraculously create? Especially for games that were originally on a system with such a radically different two-screen display. Plus the touch input, any AR elements, any 3D stuff that mattered... All that ranges from difficult to impossible to port. And you're asking for that to happen for hundreds if not thousands of games.

Re: Every Nintendo Switch Online Game Boy (Color) Game Ranked

@EarthboundBenjy Man, if they put Pokemon Pinball on here, I'm dead. I played that SO much as a kid. My high scores were around 2.2 billion on the blue table and 1.6 on the red. Doubt I'll ever achieve such lofty numbers again, but if I get a billion on either again I'll be happy!

@Cool-Breeze Anything can be used to play anything. Whether there's enough buttons to pull it off is obviously something that you need to consider when choosing a controller, but no matter what Nintendo controller you connect, A is going to be A.

Short answer: Yes.

Re: Talking Point: Do We Need Another Pokémon Mystery Dungeon On Switch?

Bret

To be honest, I forgot the DX games existed on Switch. I'd probably play a new Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, but I haven't finished the last couple. People say they loved Super now, so maybe I just didn't play enough for it to get good. But what I'd really like to see is a remake (or dare I say sequel?) of Pokemon Conquest.
