@Mgalens Oh man, if they actually owned up to the performance issues in this Direct (or Presents, whatever) and confirmed they're working on a patch to fix as much as they can, I'd have come out of this much, much happier with it.
I had three expectations going in - A gameboy pokemon game or two for NSO, S/V DLC, and a bunch of mobile game news for stuff I don't play and hence don't care about. Two of those expectations were met. Kind of a nothing Pokemon Presents since they didn't really show much of the DLC, but I'm glad it's coming.
Why does everyone here get so angry over the mobile games, though? Seriously. Just ignore it if it's not for you. You don't need to spend energy being mad that Pokemon Masters EX exists. It's not worth it.
@Magician You are never going to play this downloadable content anytime soon if you don't want to, well, download it. Sword and Shield don't have a cartridge with the DLC included, so Scarlet and Violet definitely won't, at least not before Sw/Sh do. I doubt there are ANY first party Switch games that have been re-released with DLC packaged in (not counting ports from an earlier system). Your insistence on everything you play being physical is only making you miss out on games now.
I understand the desire to ensure you'll always be able to access certain content no matter what happens, but unfortunately modern gaming is not going to go back to that style. Have fun with this DLC when Scarlet and Violet get remade in 15 years.
@RubyCarbuncle My favorite is people conflating THEIR biggest hopes with EVERYONE'S biggest hopes. Like obviously the highlight is S/V DLC, the games sold 18 million copies. But then you get some people saying that "everyone" was only watching for announcements of old Pokemon games for NSO. Second favorite is the Kalos DLC people.
@NielsNL I've seen a lot of people take unrelated Nintendo news as "confirmations" for a new system but this is by far the strangest one. Why does Pokemon DLC being announced make you think that a new system is coming next year?
@abbyhitter But we did get DLC info. Nintendo typically puts the biggest announcements at the end of their streams. It's how they keep people engaged for the whole stream. How is that "tone deaf"?
@HolyGeez03 This will be the third one they've done. They include interviews with the cast and creators, it's not just the trailer. It's where Pratt's "stomping... KOOPAS" comes from.
Even the PC reviews are middling. Metacritic has an average review of 65, and most reviews mention bugs. I haven't been following this story closely, but how are the bugs in the console version different from those in the PC version?
@Vexx234 "Should we maybe wait and spend more time before releasing?"
"Nah, we couldn't possibly afford to recoup the losses to Nintendo, The Pokemon Company, Studio OLM, Takara Tomy, and anyone else who's got advertising material, trading cards, anime, toys, and anything else with the Pokemon name on it ready to be released. At least the game runs. We'll just have to patch it later."
I'm not happy with the performance either, but more than anything else I wish the merchandising machine would let off the gas a bit so the games could actually be completed. Game Freak basically isn't allowed to delay the game even if they wanted to.
I wonder how well games like Falling Elevator – Hyper Casual Demolish Escape Survival Game or Deep Space:Action Fire Sci-Fi Game 2023 Shooter Strike Simulator Alien Death Ultimate Games end up selling.
Federation Force may be a hidden gem, but it was never going to succeed. It had been six years since Metroid fans had gotten a game, another three years since they'd gotten a good game, and then Nintendo rewards their patience with... a co-op spinoff. I'm a bit shocked by Samus Returns' low placement because it was the first good Metroid since Prime 3 in 2007, but above it are nothing but bangers too, so...
@HammerGalladeBro I just read an article about this on Kotaku. They had some quotes from people who remembered seeing it. Apparently the match ended with all the participants running into each other in the center of the ring, all of them getting knocked out by the impact. The ref then announced, in true Nintendo fashion, "Everyone's a winner!"
@delt75 ALL the games? Frankly that's a ridiculous expectation. Do you think ports are something that a dev just snaps their fingers to miraculously create? Especially for games that were originally on a system with such a radically different two-screen display. Plus the touch input, any AR elements, any 3D stuff that mattered... All that ranges from difficult to impossible to port. And you're asking for that to happen for hundreds if not thousands of games.
@EarthboundBenjy Man, if they put Pokemon Pinball on here, I'm dead. I played that SO much as a kid. My high scores were around 2.2 billion on the blue table and 1.6 on the red. Doubt I'll ever achieve such lofty numbers again, but if I get a billion on either again I'll be happy!
@Cool-Breeze Anything can be used to play anything. Whether there's enough buttons to pull it off is obviously something that you need to consider when choosing a controller, but no matter what Nintendo controller you connect, A is going to be A.
To be honest, I forgot the DX games existed on Switch. I'd probably play a new Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, but I haven't finished the last couple. People say they loved Super now, so maybe I just didn't play enough for it to get good. But what I'd really like to see is a remake (or dare I say sequel?) of Pokemon Conquest.
@MegaVel91 Uh, yes? I did further research, found I'd made a mistake, and fessed up to it. I should have looked at the Abra cards too, not just Alakazam.
@Sisilly_G It's also not as if Mario is not one of the biggest video game franchises out there, either. I'm definitely with you that S/V shouldn't be like they are, just thought it was funny.
@Sisilly_G Regarding your Pokemon Violet crash... Oh, boo-hoo. As long as the bug doesn't hinder progress or corrupt one's save file, then there's no harm done.

@SakuraHaruka What are we misunderstanding about Miyamoto saying "It's fine without a story, so do we really need one?" and "As much as possible, complete it with only characters from the Super Mario world"? https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2020/07/paper_mario_producer_says_its_no_longer_possible_to_modify_mario_characters

@Bizzyb Nope, and no word on the patch that rolled out recently or on the existence of future patches.

Re: Latest Pokémon Scarlet And Violet Tera Raid Event Starts Today, Features New Paradox Pokémon
@Hopeful_Cynic I like the past names a heck of a lot more than I do the future ones. Why "Iron" for every single one of them?

Why is a DLC story about leaving the Paldea region named after the crater in the center of it?
Re: Nintendo Is Officially Skipping E3 2023
@multiman loud and inaccurate. there's still pikmin 4 and metroid prime 4 at the very least.
Re: Nintendo Is Officially Skipping E3 2023
@Hero-of-WiiU Covid did nothing to E3 but delay its inevitable death. I wouldn't be surprised if this ends up being its final year.

@lyle_catcliffe there was also no E3 in 2022
Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For Kirby's Return To Dream Land Deluxe
@WiiWouldLikeToPlay A lot of Kirby games DO have harder modes, they just all force you to beat the game first to access them.
Re: Every Yoshi Game Ranked
My sister and I loved Yoshi's Story growing up. That game is super important to me.
Also, I love Sean Lennon and the Claypool Lennon Delirium. I hope they get back together to record more material soon.

They've done it twice. Since October. And we just had a real direct two weeks ago.

If you like Kirby, yes. Buy it. If you didn't care much about Star Allies, skip it.
Re: The First Review For Kirby's Return To Dream Land Deluxe Is Now In
35 seems low for Famitsu lol
Re: Talking Point: What Will Be Announced On Pokémon Day 2023?
Surprised by the lack of votes for the patch. They've already released notes for it, so it's gotta be near release.

Wow, Fi is way too high on this list. Linebeck is cool. I voted for my best friend The King of Red Lions, though.

@Uncle_Franklin Just buy that Hori dpad joy con. No need to release a controller whose only feature is less buttons.

@Dr_Corndog Can't, too busy playing Warioware.

I love that I'm playing the original Warioware yet again. What a perfect game.
