The Hojo controlled Japan for 130 years before the Ashikage and their mon was indeed that same symbol, but I'm not aware of any particular association with the Hojo and ninja. Neither the original clan, nor the later Hojo from the Sengoku period, which was famous more for prolific castle building.

I am, or was, a huge MK fan so I got the $110 version of MK1 so I'd get all the DLC and so on. Then they wanted to charge me another $50 after that for Khaos Reigns. I'm not buying it, or anything else from them. Possibly ever again, unless they makes a lot of changes. Beautiful game, good kombat, but the greed killed my love of the series completely.

I won't be pre-ordering. If this was a Nightdive release? I'd be pre-ordering the moment it was possible... But Aspyr? Yeah, I'll wait and see.

I get so annoyed when fantasy series get put in Japan with samurai and whatever for no reason. Imagine if every American game series just suddenly was cowboys sometimes. Still, this one does look pretty charming so I'll probably pick it up.

The Japanese cover art is definitely more Dragon Quest-y, but the NA art excites my imagination and actually makes me want to play.

Backwards compatibility is literally the single most important consideration for me. The difference between buying it day one or not bothering to get one at all and just picking up a steam deck instead.

My girlfriend is trans and was a very well known player in an online game before her transition. It's pretty ***** how much harassment she's gotten, it kind of ruined her favorite game for her. I'm sure many of us here know the power of a favorite game to escape depression, imagine having that taken from you by constant bullying. I don't understand such awful behavior, regardless of someone's personal beliefs.

I loved Fusion as a game, but I hated that suit design. Looks like a melted diving suit.

They're both... fine. At first I leaned towards Japan, but it's awfully busy. I feel they went a bit overboard. Decided to go with NA/EU because I like the actual background.

I like the Disgaea series but I'm bored by the more Japan-centric setting here, so I'll probably skip this one. It's already a deeply anime inspired series, and that's fun when mixed with western fantasy tropes, subverted or otherwise... this looks to lose that charm.

The thing that jumps out to me as having aged badly is how unclear what you're supposed to do is sometimes. In the first level, how are you supposed to know what the uplink screen is, hidden behind boxes even. Or that you're supposed to put a modem thing on that, but just press the action button on the server? Also annoying that you can blow up the door controls in the second level and it won't tell you that you just failed the mission because of that. I'm still having fun with it, but I'm getting through these levels based entirely on memory from N64 version.

Been playing with my N64 Switch controller, the controls felt bizarre at first, but after finishing the first mission, it clicked into place for me. I won't claim they're perfect and astounding, but it def wasn't as bad as I feared.
