It's April Fools' Day once again, which means today you'll find a big dollop of ridiculous gaming news (fun) mixed in with your usual ridiculous gaming news (price hikes, layoffs, not-fun).

So as is customary, we've rounded up our picks of the best gags for your amusement as we kick off April with a smirk.

We'll be adding to this list in the coming hours as more fools-lovin' regions wake up and post their jokes, so let us know in the comments if you spy a good one. Enjoy!

2026's Best April Fools' Gaming Gags

Yoshi meets Yoshi meets Yoshi

Doing their best Spider-Man impressions, and getting in on The Super Mario Galaxy Movie's release today, here we have LA Dodgers pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto meeting Donald Glover (voice of Yoshi in the new film) and Yoshi himself.

Pragmata is a Mega Man game

Leaning into a fan theory that Capcom debunked last year, this one's so on the nose that it flags it's a gag in the headline, which kinda kills it.

Still, it's fun seeing that enormous Mega Man suit. We can only assume that'll find its way into the game proper somehow.

Level-5 theme park

Level-5 is back again with an AI-generated video, naturally (if you couldn't tell, it's even flagged with an asterisk at the very end). At the heart of Fukuoka, Level-5 Land is "opening... someday", according to the above video.

Seems they're syncing this with the launch of Layton and the New World of Steam, then. Hawhaw.

The next game in the PowerWash series, Date the Dirt

Riffing on the theme of Date Everything, FuturLab put out a trailer for a PowerWash Simulator spin-off that lets you get down and dirty.

NieR: Cosmic Horror

Let's put this in the maybe pile, shall we? One the one hand, Yoko Taro; on the other, Yoko Taro. A teaser trailer was uploaded to the official Japanese X account, but we'll just have to wait and see if Nier: Cosmic Horror is legit "Coming Soon" or not.

Pokémon Pokopia Wacky Waving Inflatable Suduwoodo

Not so much a gag as a fun tie-in, this one is actually real. Pokopia has a limited-time item available in inflatable arm flailing tube form.

If you fancy getting a wibbly wobbly Suduwoodo in Pokopia, it's available until 5am on 2nd April.

More coming soon?...

There's just a handful of the gaming gags out there this year, but we'll be on the lookout for any more that crop up over the day. Let us know your favourites below.
