Okay you've finally got me Suika genre, I will play one of these damn games. As a lover of puzzle games I can't tell you how hard it has been to avoid this subgenre of games for fear of addiction. But this looks too damn good I just can't resist anymore lol
@RainbowGazelle It was the first one (on home console) and was a special release at the time. I can understand it, the problem was all the sequels that followed. The novelty wore off fast.
the game is fun now but damn do I wish they would add some content to it.
Not even new costumes have been added or simple world events like putting timed locations to explore in the world like a festival or just a character or just anything like literally anything at all just to make the game feel more alive.
first party output, for the first year of a new system has had some questionable releases.
Mario Kart World is fine but then why was Kirby Air Riders released a few months later? It doesn't make sense.
Why not save The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom for Switch 2? It's like 8 months later.
DK Bananza should've been held back for the holiday or Nintendo needed something better for the holiday period. Musou Zelda, Kirby Air Riders and cross platform Metroid Prime and Pokemon is fine for a year 2 of a new system. But I just don't think it was an enticing lineup.
Key cards are a sizable negative considering how popular physical was on Switch 1.
Probably this has nothing to do with sales, game lineups etc and everything to do with price and market conditions beyond Nintendo's control.
But the current first party output has been abit odd.
They have to add Switch 2 upgrade packs for these games. Graces f, Xillia and Berseria should be running at 60fps on Switch 2. I don't even care if they charge for it just make it happen.
Basically mashing two of the biggest money makers on earth.
Maybe they could afford to make enough to not have them sell out?
Problem is way too many fans of either Lego or Pokemon are just as, if not more so, invested in the value of what they are buying than the actual product itself.
@N00BiSH less bullying and more that the online was dying in the worldwide rooms because players were simply boycotting it and playing rooms via the Mario Kart World discord.
Haven't played yet since the update but intermissions need to be a change of pace. Like 1 or 2 every 10 races or so for it to be fun.
Since the patch almost nothing. I boot it up every couple of days. do a race and it's always an intermission. I do it, I don't bag even if that is the best strategy. I try to play it Nintendo's way and have fun and I just don't. The race is over, I try another race and it gets to the selection and it's another intermission. It begins to load and I just switch the game off because I just don't want to do it. Like I'm sorry Nintendo but it just isn't fun. The lobbies are dwindling, can't remember the last time I was in a full room and the game is only a month old. Nintendo have messed up, they just have. The numbers are showing it when you play no matter how much those who say the intermissions are fine and dandy. It doesn't matter, say it until your blue in the face but the numbers online do not lie.
This was so wholesome and fun to watch, overall it was very nicely put together.
I was blown away by the creativity on display.
The Japanese puzzle game was my favourite of the bunch.
Nintendo really should've showcased some of these games. I can understand not wanting to platform players that they don't know but I think they could've done more to really promote and help share some of these creations.
There are rumours that internally Nintendo don't consider this game Mario Kart 9. In that context forcing intermissions makes more sense (to them at least) as the game is considered a spin off or sub series and the world itself with the intermissions is what the game is all about to them.
What the hell are Nintendo doing with this?? This is the most stubborn out of touch crap they could've done.
They saw their player base overwhelmingly select random so they could enjoy the normal 3 lap tracks and they've taken that away.
Intermission should be for KO Tour, it's what makes that mode unique. Pushing it into Grand Prix has never made sense and the player base at large showed that and Nintendo have just delivered a giant F U to all of them.
Honestly I find this decision truly disgusting and inexcusable.
Japan has a HUGE population, 120m+. Some of these sales are actually quite surprising. Smartphones must truly dominate because even in the handheld centric Japan the Lite only selling 6.5 million is quite low? Feels like it anyway.
Xbox is so low I honestly don't know why they bother anymore.
Sony have been heavily tech focused and Nintendo stepped back from that 20 years ago. Instead focusing on gimmick and low cost entry level experiences. The shift being that AAA games have become so expensive and so sparsely made that the majority of games now fall into the smaller indie bracket and that's allowed Nintendo to place themselves perfectly.
Not sure I worded this well but hopefully it makes sense.
Tom's Guide is the fairest here. Intermission sections take up too much of the playing time. The open world should have more in it to do, especially since character unlocks are walled behind some terrible Kamek RNG.
The hard part is building the beautiful world and they did that, filling it up with just abit more to do should've been the easy part? Hell there is a mission where you have to hit a chargin chuck with a green shell and rather than having this be the way to unlock him you instead have to rely on RNG. It's crazy.
The game is good but the potential for it to be so much better is right there and for the life of me I can't understand why that is being so easily forgiven in the scoring.
Not gonna lie I'm a little underwhelmed by it. I don't want to be but I think I am.
The intermission courses should only be for Knockout Tour, it is actually crazy to me that they are being used in Grand Prix. Played through the whole mode and forgot most of the tracks because you only do 1 lap. It's madness.
Also how on earth does Online not have 3 lap races only? Nintendo seem to think that intermission sections are some revelation instead of the mostly straight lines they are. Truly crazy that two thirds of an Online race are driving to the track.
Then the open world is so empty of things to do. The only rewards are stickers and costumes. The latter of which most characters do not have.
I have to be real and say that this game feels like it's misguided and half baked. And given how long it's been since 8 I find that very disappointing.
Like you made a cool open world and instead of filling it with fun unlockables and races you just unlock stickers, that is hugely unsatisfying. Stickers you can't even see half the time given how frantic the races are.
I'd be giving this game a 6/10 so far because it has the potential to be so much more and when the messaging behind the $80 price tag hinted that Nintendo think they have made something truly worthy of that I have to be real and say they haven't, not even close.
Look these games are great but PuyoPuyoxTetris 2 was basically an expansion of the first game with a more fleshed out story mode and a couple of extra modes.
For this release then to be a further expansion but not be available as such is just crazy. I LOVE Tetris, it is my fav game ever.
But I bought this game already many many times. I have the imported PS3 Version, I have the physical and digital version too on PS4. Then I bought the digital version of the sequel on PS4. I have the physical versions of 1 and 2 on Switch.
I want to play a new game now. This one has been released over and over for a decade. With very little added each time.
I got an order late into the morning on Very on the day, I was surprised how easy it was. If it gets cancelled so be it but so far that hasn't happened.
These last two updates are solely based on an exploit found in time trials for Melody Motorway. It was a truly bizarre thing to pull off and this late into the game it's kinda amazing Nintendo patched it out. It's nice that Nintendo want to protect the time trial leaderboards even at this late stage.
I got lucky I guess. I drifted onto Very the day pre orders went up at about 11:00am, got an order in very easy for the MK World bundle with the extra storage included. Also since it's Very I don't need to pay for it for 12 months.
Never got a console on Day 1, I literally have never tried. I went onto Very to check something else and there the pre orders were sitting. I thought about it for 20 minutes and went for it.
if I was him I'd announce retirement, enjoy my millions and start releasing games under a different psudonym with no pressure to follow up what he almost certainly cannot.
Game Key cards suck because the Switch has such limited storage. Alot of these are huge 50gb or more games that people will have to download, which is abit more than a day 1 patch.
The limited storage means this is something you might have to do semi regularly because even 500gb is going fill up fast if 90% of games now need to be downloaded be it digitally from the store or via these game key cards.
It will also mean alot of game key cards get less play. Think how less likely you would be to choose to play a game if it meant you had to download it for multiple hours first because the month prior you needed the storage space to play a different game. All these comments above being indifferent to game key cards will come across this problem eventually and it might even be sooner than they think.
Truth is Nintendo have royally messed up in terms of switch 2 card size options. Alot of crossgen games are still getting physical on switch 1, the economy of switch 2 cards is pushing alot of these third parties towards game key cards.
it does seem bizarre to me that they tack these prices onto the original games rrp for the physical switch 2 editions.
Like logically wouldn't they make more money by discounting the switch 2 physical release. Therefore tempting some to actually pay for example £50 for this dlc. Like that seems like a better 'trick' as it were.
Then instead of Switch 2 edition I'd of called it 'Complete Edition' or something.
Like yeah you could pay just £17 for the upgrade if you already have the original but you could also pay £50 for the complete new edition.
I just don't get charging so much for older games when charging abit less would of probably meant people would actually spend more. Because people want the new complete version.
all it had to be was a more powerful switch with some extra hardware features. The price changes, the horrible case art, the game key card, the bad messaging and the lack of a solid launch line up is frustrating.
I preordered because I happened to land on the oppurtunity to do so and I'm a guy who has become completely jaded with Sony.
I wanted to go back to a more simple world, no achievements and bright colorful games. I will get that but man I really wanted to be excited but it's been nothing but bad news day after day.
I did get a Wii U within its first 2 years, felt burnt by that and went back to PS. Missing out on Switch right up till early last year when I got a second hand lite since it was so cheap.
I want to be excited and I mostly am but I'm so fearful we're marching into another Wii U esque scenario, probably more 3DS but man Nintendo why have you missed this open goal of a oppurtunity to grow even beyond the Switch. The greed they are showing is killing momentum and it is such a pointless thing for them to have done.

@jake1421 ikr? All we got was that crappy mini version. I want the full thing with the story mode etc. Would love to play it.

Mario Kart World content I beg, literally anything from a few costumes to full on dlc.
The game deserves to have ongoing support

Gematsu headline had me worried that NSO was going up in price globally, which would make no sense. Thankfully that doesn't seem to be the case.

Re: Video: Resident Evil Requiem Side-By-Side Comparison (Switch 2 & PS5)
If graphics are all you care about you wouldn't own a Switch 2. Personally I think it looks absolutely fine.
I also don't really like ultra realistic games anyway. They too easily stray into uncanny valley for me idk.
I prefer games to be stylized and while lesser graphics isn't the same it does ultimately fall into a look I weirdly prefer more often than not.
