Re: Switch 2 Game-Key Cards Won't Make It Easy For Physical Collectors In Japan

AnonyQ

Two things I'd like to say:
1. The incentive for smaller games to buy carts to fit their game is actually lower, as the user experience is less impacted by smaller downloads than larger. Why bother paying to put the full game on a cart when it's only a few GB and can be downloaded in minutes?

2. Anyone who isn't a collector or otherwise interested in gaming and tech won't bat an eyelid at this.
Store person: "just so you're aware, this game needs to be downloaded. It's a game key card."
Customer: "so I can't resell it?"
Store person: "oh no, you can still resell it, just that you need to fully download the game first"
Customer: confused look "please just give me my game"

Re: Switch 2 Game-Key Cards Aren't Tied To Nintendo Accounts

This is for parents and young kids who go to a game store and buy a game expecting there to be a physical cart inside

They don't like the experience of there being a long code their child might need help with, and aren't fussed if the game requires a complete download. It's all about that experience on opening the case and clicking out that physical cart

Re: Elden Ring's Switch 2 Physical Version Seemingly Tarnished By 'Game-Key Card' Release

AnonyQ

Can someone please confirm whether game key carts:

  • act to unlock the digital version, tying it to your account, and additionally requiring you to have the cart inserted to play the game, or
  • acts to download the entire game (ala bioshock 2 and infinite) but isn't tied to your account and can be loaned out to friends and they can also download and play the game as long as they have the cart inserted?

Just wanting to check as if it's the second we've already crossed that bridge many many times

Re: Rumour: New Switch 2 Rumour Makes Wild Claim About Mysterious 'C' Button

We know it's only on one joycon and that apparently both left and right have mouse ability, so I doubt it's anything to do with locating/centring the cursor

Similarly I doubt it's something in-game due to its location quite low on the controller and that this could otherwise be something menu-related

My thoughts are that it might connect wirelessly to the dock so you don't need to physically connect it to play on the TV - this achieves the criteria of simplifying a process for families and being non-software specific

Re: Feature: 8 Games That Defined The Switch Generation

Everyone saying Mario Wonder or Metroid Dread, where do those games stand not in context of other games in their own series? I found both to be quite boring, despite the occasional moments of "oh, that's slightly different from previous entries, but worse"
