I'm really looking forward to playing this after falling in love with xbc 2&3, but I can't stand the silent protagonist trope. Do devs think I need a blank slate in order to relate to the character? Imagine movies would do the same, some blank faced moron stumbling around the plot.
"striking similarity" is an understatement, the secret level episode is a direct adaptation and promotion of this game. It was one of my favourite episodes and I'm looking forward to an inventive metroidvania. What it does have is a striking visual similarity to ghost song.
That's fine, by then the new gen of AMD chips will be in new pc handhelds and then we'll know if Nintendo's hardware will stack up. Of course switch 2 will have ease of use speak for it and I hope price as well. Mist say though, black myth wukong benchmarking 58fps @ 1080p on only 15 watt is very impressive on the hx370.
@batmanbud2 @Antraxx777 I absolutely love game soundtracks. Final Fantasy and square Enix in general (great official music channel on Spotify/yt), xenoblade, modern Zelda, Nier, persona, Yakuza, journey, last of us, ghost of Tsushima, metal gear solid, signalis, etc just to name a few.
What I'm talking about is mostly Nintendo soundtracks and pre PS1 game era in general that are meant to loop indefinitely and accompany gameplay. In a gaming context I find them very enjoyable, but outside that context that sort of jingle-like music can get grating very fast. There is great craftsmanship behind that kind of music as well, but it's designed for a very specific kind of listening.
I find nocturne (so far) is so much better than the original series, which started off really strong in a tight first season. Later seasons however dragged so bad. Especially the overwritten characters, each trying to sound more smug and self righteous than the other, it became too insufferable for me. Nocturnes in its first season feels like it was getting back to the basics with likable characters.
@-wc- absolutely agree, they should have the option for digital copies added to physical releases that don't increase the price immensely, because let's face it, a digital license is lesser in value since the consumer looses most all rights over their digital property and therefore should never be valued at regular retail price.
As for this, I have my Japanese copy pre-ordered. At least the Asian market still fully embraces physical media.
How about Nintendo coming half way to the consumer and towards game conservation by pledging that once you buy a licence for a Nintendo game, they will see to it that it will be playable on every future platform via official means.
If they'd do that I'm never going to (unofficially) emulate anything Nintendo again. And if Sony would follow suit then I'd never use unofficial means period.
These companies must admit that the main "bad player" in this legal whackamole are they themselves with their anti consumer practices. Offer me good service and I'll go for it.
Looking forward to when the rom hacking/fan translation scene digs themselves into switch games. They're the true heroes of game conservation, a task publishers aren't capable of.
Time waster with zero artistic integrity. Not just some old dude expecting everything to be like in my childhood. The hoyo games for example aren't made with my demographic in mind, but I do see their value with their beautiful soundtracks and great art design.
For some reason the 90s pg-13 movie felt more rated R than the actual rated R movie a few years back, so my expectations are somewhat dampened. Nothing beats the MK rebirth short film with Michael Jay White.
I've mostly been playing square Enix games the last two years because despite the quantity the games are high quality as well (with the few exceptions). Triangle strategy still remains my top game. The latest star ocean as well as the last remake were amazing. They should keep going with a little more spacing.
It's the absolute full circle mom... wait a moment, we're veering of the planned course aaaaand crashed. We will get that right in mk 2 so please pre-order.
Taking from the trailer the animation and tone is way ahead of its original run. Really loved s1 but the other seasons were mostly several episodes too long and just every character trying to sound more condescending than the next.
@ZeldaFan83 exactly my thought. That's why I relegate WB games to either 1 year later complete editions or even more likely just have it in one of the subscription services. So less money for you WB.
Homelander and Omega Man are some of the scariest Villains in current memory.
Over on pushsquare they keep on discussing FF16 sales non stop, while this is a piece of news that is genuinely exciting. Monolith soft is at the top of their game and Xenoblade 3 for me represents the pinnacle of RPGs together with the Witcher 3 and puts FF16 to shame with it's flashy yet shallow gameplay and it's wannabe Game of Thrones story.
Monolith truly deserves all the accolades in the world.
Square Enix is my favourite publisher of the last year. I just wished they would have paced their release slate a bit, because there is only so much time one can devote to games. I hope they continue as they did with a mix of new franchises (triangle strategy, diofield), sequels and remakes. Of course they're not all bangers, but there is an overall excellent quality.
Those who want to just keep going on about forspoken, Babylon's Fall and nft talk should just go into a cave and be salty.
Gameplay was great, but having to "engage" with this cotton candy anime fluff (coming from an anime fan… up to the early 2000s) between missions just dragged the entire experience down for me. They should have continued three houses direction with a new cast of characters and that smooth engage gameplay.
I got big hands, and the joy cons are perfectly fine for me. Splitting it up for my kids to play together... Genius controller (except for stick drift of course)
Had to laugh seeing this oddly written review, possibly written from someone who doesn't know that video games existed pre smartphone.
Also, illumination never made a bad movie before!? 🤣

Didn't get into the first ryza game, though more due to time constraints. Perhaps the anime can win me over. Generally like the idea of RPG anime adaptations because who on earth has the time for many of them.
@Magician these limited deals are usually short lived and then you can get it at retail. I'm starting to boycott these horrible opportunists after receiving shoddy prints and overinflated shipping fees.
@Erigen I think if you look at SEs massive, and mostly great, 2022 slate it's clear that they've been leaning into their strengths, which are definitely jrpgs. 2023 also seems to be continuing the trend. Triangle strategy was my most played switch game, right after xenoblade 3.
Love Warframe, bit I'd prefer cross progression first and foremost. Awesome on the go but wouldn't want to play it docked at home when I got another system at home.
Three houses was my first FE and I sank more time into it than botw. I think this looks really fun and I don't mind the artstyle at all. Three houses also had a great artstyle, but the aliasing was dreadful and the characters moved like animatronics. Here the characters look more alive in their movement and expression and the visuals are generally more crisp. Don't see why people get hung up on the look. The gameplay is going to be great I assume.
