Is anybody else like me, getting excited to see something with an 80s/90s anime artstyle, only to be disappointed that it's just another shmup!?

@Magician these limited deals are usually short lived and then you can get it at retail. I'm starting to boycott these horrible opportunists after receiving shoddy prints and overinflated shipping fees.

This and signalis deserve my respect way more than the obvious contenders like Elden ring and Ragnarök.

@Erigen I think if you look at SEs massive, and mostly great, 2022 slate it's clear that they've been leaning into their strengths, which are definitely jrpgs.
2023 also seems to be continuing the trend.
Triangle strategy was my most played switch game, right after xenoblade 3.

Man, that's very out of touch. Perhaps they're in need of younger leadership, but Japan's hierarchical system stands in the way of that.

Love Warframe, bit I'd prefer cross progression first and foremost. Awesome on the go but wouldn't want to play it docked at home when I got another system at home.

Three houses was my first FE and I sank more time into it than botw. I think this looks really fun and I don't mind the artstyle at all. Three houses also had a great artstyle, but the aliasing was dreadful and the characters moved like animatronics. Here the characters look more alive in their movement and expression and the visuals are generally more crisp. Don't see why people get hung up on the look. The gameplay is going to be great I assume.

Hope the physical will really have some of that gorgeous Amano cover art and not just some generic mech photo.

Didn't know this series had a story intriguing enough for anyone to care about spoilers.
But to the previous poster, yeah, Nintendo should do more to crack down on this madness. They need to get their best salary men, let them bind their neckties around their foreheads, give em some powerglove fisticuffs and start the shakedown. You know, priorities.

Boyonetta with it's flimsy combat and narrative and it's cringe worthy design was never my cup of tea so no buy either way.

Ghibl/Zelda is a given, but pairing xenoblade and mir is an amazing idea as well as Luigi's mansion with Leika. I would use cartoon saloon for something more sophisticated than Pikmin.

Already spent around 150 hours playing for platinum. Great game, but I think I had my fill.

So where is the Bluetooth menu now? I hope it's available when holding down the home button. Super annoying going to settings and having to scroll down all the way.

Oh man, it's like they want to repeat the Sonic fiasco, just to get the same buzz in advance.

Music and anime art are nice, but space harrier gameplay is a big NO for me.

The switch version was a disaster. Slow load times, wonky performance and regular freezes.
I think we have enough anxiety fueled American indie games as is.

Looks great! Just hope they step up the dialogue animations that it doesn't always look like a bunch of pretty sock puppets getting ready for a group photo like in three houses/hopes.

After being blown away by all the xenoblade games on the switch (never played the first on the Wii) I'm extremely impressed by this studio and hope for great things in the future.
I'll be catching up on a few their older titles via emulation. Especially xenogears story sounds heartwrenchingly fantastic.

Uh, almost everything illumination makes is an insult to a child's mind and merely a way to get some peace as a parent for 90 minutes, which is a very low bar of quality. We need more studios like Ghibli, cartoon saloon and Laika.

@Sequel absolutely agree. Astral Chain and vanquish (also God Hand if you count clover) have platinums finest combat systems. The presentation is also top tier. I sure hope a sequel is in the making.
Too bad these games fell under the radar of many, while bayonetta got so much attention due to its certain juvenile "qualities".

@Luigi05 I heard advanced wars was practically done but held back because of the war in Ukraine, which I understand. At the same time, there's always war.

I'm still sort of salty after that bayonetta 3 trailer that made me believe an Astral Chain sequel was in the making. Oh well, happy for the bayonetta fans though.

Can only back up an Astral Chain sequel as well. That game is so underrated!

Other than that I'd love to see another vanquish or spiritual successors to Okami and God Hand.

Getting a gastroscopy is more pleasant than the Mila Jovovich movies (except the first).

Looks like this one is trying to hit the mark between the style of 1&2, though I did strongly prefer the 2nd and Torna. Once you get over the dorky lead and the unconventional (but great) voice acting it's one of the most memorable RPGs I've played in recent years. And don't get me started on the soundtrack! Yasunori Mitsuda should be regarded as highly as Nobuo Uematsu.

@jcboyer515 well the dev added the possibility to play the original release to alleviate the annoyances of the remaster. Maybe there are also useful mods. I'd rather just play on switch though.

I guess this will be a steam deck pick for me.

Tbh, Persona and Nier should have released on switch years ago, so while being exceptional games, I can't muster much enthusiasm for them.
Monster Hunter DLC, Live a live, Blanc, RPG time and PAC man world had me most interested, but I really missed tactics ogre, front Mission Remake and a release date for metal slug tactics.
I really need Square Enix to make their own showcase, they alone have some much coming!

Unexpected, but it looks very pleasant. Never played the original, but it looks like it offers some good variety.

Wow, blanc and RPG time are amazing announcements. Lot's of ports to great games, that are coming way too late for me though.
I was really hoping to see more of the front Mission Remake and Tactics Ogre. I need my trpg's on the go.

Hmm, in my phone I really can't tell a difference. I heard they slightly increased the frame rate which adds a odd look.

I'd say Tactics Ogre and Front Mission. I got my share of p5 on PlayStation after plating royale, but the series is a good fit for the switch.

Tbh I just wished they'd skip the switch and keep the same visual quality like 7 remake. In this case I also want those trophies, so it's a PlayStation purchase for me.

Wow, that hair looks so dumb, especially after the top notch character design of the past. Nevertheless, more fire emblem is always a good thing.

First excited, but then let down that it's a lrg release. Shipping is heavily inflated and the cover art (backside and inlay) are usually shoddy. Since I'm in Europe there'll most likely be a physical release from a competent publisher.

Remember watching someone else play this on the PC as a kid and was very fascinated. Can't wait to give it a shot.

My ideal marketing campaign: announcement trailer <6 months from release. Gameplay trailer (no deep dive) and/or demo a month before release. Launch trailer at release. Nintendo is pretty good with this. Everything being covered for over a year just starts burning me out before it hits shelves.

@OorWullie yes, for the most part it is so, but I believe this upcoming Disney Kart racing game will require Nintendo Online.

Will Nintendo online be required? It's not needed for Rocket League which had a similar development.

Does velocity (&2x) count? Not a schmup fan, but I enjoyed those two games.
