@Curly_Brace The physical switch 2 version costs 8€ more in my region. The eshop S2 upgrade is 10€ and non transferable, so basically throwing money down the digital well. Not a clever path of purchase for people considering an eventual upgrade.
@John_Deacon proving my point on the "didn't bother reading" part. I'll spell it out for you again: the switch 2 cartridge also includes the switch 1 version... no reason for double dipping!
Unless you save loads on the switch 1 version and you're dead set to never get a switch 2 this version only exists for those uninformed or don't bother reading.
I find xb2 very underrated within the series. It's so likeable, quirky and different. The only downside for me was that blade fusion mechanic and the poor tutorials (which most all xb games are guilty of)
Personal ranking from best to good: 3+DLC, 2+Torna, XB1 and lastly xenoblade X
I'll get it for sure if it gets a non gamekey card rerelease or a proper digital discount. I already own it on ps5, but I feel this game deserves another try. People just hated it for sport without actually judging the game on it's own merits, but that's the gaming scene these days.
The game's lots of fun and definitely deserves a chance on the switch. Most people hating on it probably never even tried it, comment on hearsay alone and just want to sound cool riding the hate bandwagon.
Dunno why people are so dramatic about "the state of star wars". Mando was mostly great, Andor was a masterpiece and the other shows are fun despite having dorky flaws. Even acolyte, despite it's narrative problems had some interesting ideas going for it. The games of recent years have been fantastic. Both Jedi games and outlaws are great games and wouldn't have gotten the scrutiny if it weren't star wars.
People seem to forget that star wars by default is dorky space fantasy and not actual sci-fi. People on the internet also forgot how to have fun, just to signal how refined their media consumption taste is.
He's absolutely right about those cowards. A day doesn't pass without some artificial "controversy" where keyboard bullies step in with some half @**ed opinion, getting on one dumb hate bandwagon after another. Nintendo life looks out for it somewhat but Pushsquare moderation love this sorta thing and fosters it with countless articles that beat a dead horse with their phrasing. It's sickening.
You can do a mgs1 style game, but without the story to back it up I can't see it going anywhere. The trailer didn't show the slightest hint of a story. Without a story, I think peace walker and mgsV are the only ones I'd play purely for gameplay sakes.
How about making free roam more interesting!? I was expecting a little campaign along the lines of whacky races or cannonball run. Not even challenge trackers!?
Never liked the dock adapter idea and went for genki's attack vector instead as it covers all bases: grip, protection, joy cons detachable, kickstand usable and dockable. Yeah, killswitch2 looks slightly stronger, but I'm not planning to go to war with my switch2. Also, the biggest week spot at a heavy fall will be the shoulder buttons, and for usability sake they're exposed on any case.
No wonder. Got mine from France because it was 40€ cheaper than elsewhere. All the physical games (including mario kart world) were also just 59.99€. So yeah, the price outrage was absolutely overblown as gamers seem to love to hate more than play.
@Kwyjibo_Kitsune There are bad controllers, but I feel 3rd party has gotten so much better as compared to the madcatz (and many others) days... We seldomly get co trollers that bad.
As for in promptu gaming sessions on rooftop parties with friends... nah, haven't have such a weird experience either 😅 agree with that.
But getting together 8 kids for a round of smash in front of the big TV has happened a lot. I would have never had so many standard controllers at hand were it not for the imo clever Nintendo design.
@Kwyjibo_Kitsune using the joy cons separately is not a "gimmick" as it is an essential feature to play as a family. And when playing in handheld it's competent enough for fighters and 2d platformers. People are so specific about controllers, but usually you get used to any controller after a short getting used to time.
I'm not for it when creating something brand new, but couldn't they just have used machine learning to fill in the wide-screen and have an artist supervise and brush up any blemishes?
Xenoblade X won't play itself. What a huge game. And then there's the stack of other games that collect while I'm too busy with xenoblade. I think 80% of my total switch time has been spent on Xenoblade, Fire Emblem and triangle strategy.
Playing it on game pass and must admit that this game is truly something special. So good I feel like I owe it to the studio do buy a physical copy of it as well. If it's on switch 2 with a proper cartridge rather than a key pass, switch 2 would be my platform of choice.
Looking to what onexplayer and Lenovo do next. They're the only ones making more innovative windows handhelds. Don't get why the original ROG ally got so much attention with it's horrible battery life, bad controls and proprietary Egpu connector.
I'm somewhat wary of such think pieces, as they tend to somewhat oversimplify mental health/care, and tie it to a product that is primarily intended for making profit. Especially as neoliberal and technocratic systems have caused a surge in loneliness and mental illness, one must be careful how mental health is being commodified for profits sake. We can see it in American "Therapy speak" all to often. Glad this article didn't go down that road, and described the ups and downs, but all to often I hear "xyz has literally... saved my life", which is in best case hyperbolic, worst case deceptive and harmful. We also run the danger to distract from social economic factors that would have a far more meaningful impact on mental health than the pure individualistic pursuit.
I'm glad video games was one of many factors that helped you. I've had games and other media get my mind elsewhere during bad times, but just to be clear, they were not the determining factor. Consuming is distracting, but community makes us thrive.
@Lizuka I know, yet a design choice that they rolled off on to customers. Even comparing PS1 prices with what I pay today, it's really not that different.
I just hate hearing excuses like ballooning development costs force games to be more expensive. You got expensive garbage like starfield and concord and then you got low/mid budget like expedition 33 which looks and plays better. Asian studios also make great games for a fraction of what American studios say they "need" while also exploiting workforce.
@Spider-Kev agree with you I assume the reason for that was that Sony and Microsoft were on the forefront with digital games, where they could completely control price policy, while Nintendo was still all physical then and mostly physical until the switch.
I know... rage, angry posts, yadayadayada... Honestly, in Europe a switch 2 game is cheaper than a Nintendo 64 game was, and that's even so without considering inflation.
@Jeronan they've made several practical, well built and often time innovative accessories over the years, so I really don't get the tenacity you're putting into making your case and putting them on temu level. Call it a day with the endless debating, play a game and have some fun instead.
It's an all round good game. There's no Jank, and it's got as much variety as any other upper tier open world game out there like ghosts of tsushima, Spiderman, hogwarts etc. It's not as good as Zelda botw/totk or cdpr games but no other open world game are as good.
Just a bunch of the same old online hate trying to talk it dead. The same with AC shadows.
It's a good design, but diehards could never admit it. I guess a mix of online tribalism and misplaced nostalgia makes holding on to old things, as trivial as they might be, a badge of sophistication in the fanboys mind.
