Re: Ubisoft's Yves Guillemot Is Hopeful That Upcoming Switch 2 Port Can Revive Star Wars Outlaws

tameshiyaku

Dunno why people are so dramatic about "the state of star wars". Mando was mostly great, Andor was a masterpiece and the other shows are fun despite having dorky flaws. Even acolyte, despite it's narrative problems had some interesting ideas going for it. The games of recent years have been fantastic. Both Jedi games and outlaws are great games and wouldn't have gotten the scrutiny if it weren't star wars.

People seem to forget that star wars by default is dorky space fantasy and not actual sci-fi. People on the internet also forgot how to have fun, just to signal how refined their media consumption taste is.

Re: "That's Some Real Coward S***" - Hideki Kamiya Discusses The Fallout From The Bayonetta 3 Voiceover Controversy

tameshiyaku

He's absolutely right about those cowards. A day doesn't pass without some artificial "controversy" where keyboard bullies step in with some half @**ed opinion, getting on one dumb hate bandwagon after another. Nintendo life looks out for it somewhat but Pushsquare moderation love this sorta thing and fosters it with countless articles that beat a dead horse with their phrasing. It's sickening.

Re: PSA: DBrand's Switch 2 'Killswitch' Dock Adapter's 'Seamless Docking' Apparently Isn't Quite Seamless

tameshiyaku

Never liked the dock adapter idea and went for genki's attack vector instead as it covers all bases: grip, protection, joy cons detachable, kickstand usable and dockable. Yeah, killswitch2 looks slightly stronger, but I'm not planning to go to war with my switch2.
Also, the biggest week spot at a heavy fall will be the shoulder buttons, and for usability sake they're exposed on any case.

@Kwyjibo_Kitsune There are bad controllers, but I feel 3rd party has gotten so much better as compared to the madcatz (and many others) days... We seldomly get co trollers that bad.

As for in promptu gaming sessions on rooftop parties with friends... nah, haven't have such a weird experience either 😅 agree with that.

But getting together 8 kids for a round of smash in front of the big TV has happened a lot. I would have never had so many standard controllers at hand were it not for the imo clever Nintendo design.

Re: Feature: From BOTW To TOTK - How The Switch Helped Me Overcome Mental Illness And Thrive

tameshiyaku

I'm somewhat wary of such think pieces, as they tend to somewhat oversimplify mental health/care, and tie it to a product that is primarily intended for making profit. Especially as neoliberal and technocratic systems have caused a surge in loneliness and mental illness, one must be careful how mental health is being commodified for profits sake. We can see it in American "Therapy speak" all to often.
Glad this article didn't go down that road, and described the ups and downs, but all to often I hear "xyz has literally... saved my life", which is in best case hyperbolic, worst case deceptive and harmful.
We also run the danger to distract from social economic factors that would have a far more meaningful impact on mental health than the pure individualistic pursuit.

I'm glad video games was one of many factors that helped you. I've had games and other media get my mind elsewhere during bad times, but just to be clear, they were not the determining factor. Consuming is distracting, but community makes us thrive.

Re: Switch 2 Will Boast An Impressive Number Of Profile Icons At Launch

tameshiyaku

@Lizuka I know, yet a design choice that they rolled off on to customers.
Even comparing PS1 prices with what I pay today, it's really not that different.

I just hate hearing excuses like ballooning development costs force games to be more expensive. You got expensive garbage like starfield and concord and then you got low/mid budget like expedition 33 which looks and plays better. Asian studios also make great games for a fraction of what American studios say they "need" while also exploiting workforce.

Re: Opinion: Switch 2 Finally Gives Star Wars Outlaws A Second Chance

tameshiyaku

It's an all round good game. There's no Jank, and it's got as much variety as any other upper tier open world game out there like ghosts of tsushima, Spiderman, hogwarts etc. It's not as good as Zelda botw/totk or cdpr games but no other open world game are as good.

Just a bunch of the same old online hate trying to talk it dead. The same with AC shadows.
