Silksong is my GOTY, but I really want Pipistrello to get more attention as that's my 2nd favorite GOTY. Considering how off-putting i found the artstyle initially, I could not have imagined how much fun I'd end up having with it.
I did my 2nd playthrough earlier this year. Replaying it right after replaying BotW really brought into focus how much better TotK is. I will never be able to go back to BotW again. The world is so much less fun to explore in BotW, plus resources are so much more useful in TotK.
I've been here 15 years!
I remember signing up in 2010 so I could win a free copy of the Wiiware game Groovin' Blocks.
I got the game for free, loved it, and I've been here ever since.
Donkey Kong Country 2
Pikmin 3
Metroid Prime 2: Echoes
Starfox 64
Super Mario Galaxy 2
Hollow Knight
Majora's Mask
Tears of the Kingdom
Body Harvest
Jet Force Gemini
Cuphead
F-Zero GX
Viewtiful Joe
Rogue Leader
DK Jungle Beat
Goldeneye
I love how it specifies "Game cart included" in the trailer 👌
I thought this was announced several weeks ago but apparently it was Deus Ex I'm thinking of. I've never played either and somehow in my brain they're the same game 🙃
NSO if I play them, but I have played my favorite NES games so many times that I don't really go back to them much. The main one I still replay occasionally is Adventure of Link.
@Gaymer90 That was a great explanation. Thanks! You just made me think of a game that is super addictive for me, and that is the original Steamworld Dig. Thankfully it's a short game that probably only takes me 3-4 hours, but every time I play it, I'm completely locked in and can't stop until it's over.
@JackieCMarlow I'm curious what makes you think that? Both are games that frequently have players sink hundreds of hours into them. I've heard fans of both talking consistently about losing sleep because they can't stop playing. Sounds like addictive time sinks to me.
It's funny... games that are designed to be addictive time sinks never are for me. Games like this, Vampire Survivors, Stardew Valley, Pokémon, etc just tend to put me off. I did like Balatro, but only enough to play for 6 hours or so.
Anyway, this game seems really cool for those interested. I'm just intrigued by the way different games psychologically click (or don't) for different gamers.
@GregamanX That's fair. CATO does get super challenging at points, although I found it way more attainable than Baba is You, which I feel like you have to be an absolute genius to beat. I'm no genius but I did complete CATO.
Did you use the hint system? It's pretty great since it's vague enough not to hand you the answer, but also clear enough to nudge you in the right direction.
I like this game but a 9 feels far too generous. I beat the original a few months ago and it's an enjoyable little adventure, but it's nothing memorable at all. You'll play it one time and never think about it again kind of game. On top of that, some of the platforming is legitimately terrible.
@DennyCrane Did you find playing it handheld to be annoying? I really want to have Galaxy 2 on my Switch to play handheld, but I'm seeing all of these negative comments about it being "unplayable" undocked. Did you use the gyro controls or the pointer controls or the right stick?
@The_Nintendo_Pedant @RiasGremory @Wewewi What's wrong with Aspyr? I thought they remastered Tomb Raider and Legacy of Kain. Weren't both of those collections well received? I've never played an Aspyr game but this is the first I've heard shade thrown at them. What did I miss?
Maximo:Ghosts to Glory brought this series into 3D and is one of my favorite games of all time. Too bad it's stuck on the PS2. I'd LOVE to have a Switch port.
Most reviews I've seen have been way more positive about this game. Personally, I'm very interested in it. I don't mind a shorter length when it's a co-op game. This looks like something I'll really enjoy with my kids.
@Citrus_Architect Yes, I think that's what I enjoy most about it. The game has gotten me to experience so many genres and creative experiments that I wouldn't have otherwise. Even if I don't love most of them individually... the overall experience of curiosity and sampling is really cool.
Difficulty seems mostly good so far, but I would be happy with a system like Elden Ring where you autosave right before a boss. The runbacks don't add anything positive to the experience.
On the one hand, I have found UFO 50 enjoyable. On the other hand, I think the whole concept of "it's not 50 minigames, it's 50 bangers" is way overblown. At least for me, most of the games are novelties to try for 10 minutes. Only a small handful of games have actually been anything satisfying. But I'm okay with that.
As a Switch owner, I can say absolutely nothing is tempting me to upgrade to Switch 2. DK Bananza looks like the only really good game, and even that is a game I wouldn't feel compelled to buy even if I did own a Switch 2.
Hollow Knight was $15, from an unknown developer, and was an incredible success. Why? Because if developers make a high quality game, lots of people will buy it. If you sell 1 million copies of a game for $10, that's $10 million! Sure, you have to subtract a big chunk for development costs, publishing, and advertising. Those things are expensive! But even so, I think developers need to focus on making incredible games instead of just "good enough" games. "Good enough" games might only sell 50,000 copies and that's the real reason the price has to be higher.

Windswept looks so good. If it reviews well I won't even wait for a discount.

I was actually really excited this was coming to Switch. Oh well
Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Duel: Animal Crossing: Wild World
The coloring, lettering, and signage is much better in NA version. Far crisper.
Re: Feature: Nintendo Life eShop Selects (October 2025)
All I played in September and October was Silksong 🤷♂️

@GregamanX Yeah, world 3 was definitely the most frustrating. Surprisingly, I found world 4 and 5 much more enjoyable.

Re: Poll: How Many New Games Do You Buy In A Year?
Ignoring the confusing "new" moniker, I've bought 32 games this year. Most of those were on a deep sale though, like $2-$7.
The most expensive games I've gotten this year were Silksong ($20), Metal Gear Solid collection ($25), and Captain Toad Treasure Tracker ($28).
By the end of the year, I'll buy Mario Galaxy 2 ($40) and Metroid Prime 4 ($60). Those will be my big purchases for the year.

Re: Opinion: Silksong Might Just Be The Funniest Game Of The Year
I've been on Act 2 for a long while now and never saw the Last Judge. I fought Phantom in the Exhaust Organ and that was the end of Act 1 for me.
Re: Super Mario Galaxy 1 + 2 Day One Update Out Now, Here Are The Full Patch Notes
Darn, I was hoping they would patch the price 😄
Re: Mini Review: Super Mario Galaxy 2 (Switch) - The Stars Align Again In This Cosmic Sequel
This is my favorite Mario game ever. Even if this release is overpriced, I'm so excited to have Galaxy 2 on my Switch.
I'm glad there are touch controls in handheld.

I'll buy Lego Voyagers to play with my kids, but I'll buy it on PS4 for better resolution and frame rate (compared to Switch 1).

The demo download link isn't showing up on Nintendo's website, even though it says "Demo Available."
Re: Nintendo Showcases Every Switch And Switch 2 Direct Game In New Infographic
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and Super Mario Galaxy 2.
Re: Best Super Mario Games Of All Time
1. Galaxy 2
2. Bowser's Fury
3. Super Mario World
4. Mario 64
5. Mario Bros 3 / Mario Land 2
Super Mario 64 will always win the nostalgia hit for me though. I was 11 and it was the most magical game imaginable.
Re: Nintendo Download: 11th September (North America)
I've still got a ton of Silksong to play...

Where is the Prime 2: Echoes announcement? 😰
Re: Round Up: Every "Exciting New Game" From The Acclaim Showcase

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Direct September Predictions - What Do You Hope To See?
Anything Switch 1 related. I'd especially like a port of Kid Icarus Uprising, Link Between Worlds, or Samus Returns.
