These kind of articles worry me since they may give a game an undeservedly bad rep based basically on hearsay (unless it's a trusted source - I missed that bit if so). Judging by Switch 2 videos online I can't really see any issues with the game, rather the opposite. I'll take the people above's advice and wait for some reviews to come in!
Crossing fingers big time for this one! I was such a massive fan of Goldeneye back when, then I got sidetracked for what, 25+ years? But now I feel ready to return to the Bond universe ;p
This is the first I heard Star Wars Outlaws is not running well, which makes me sad/apprehensive - I was kinda excited to see what that was like but if it tanks in reviews it'll be a no go... Apart from that, I'm already backlogged so most games this month will be a "revisit later down the line" type of thing, including Silksong.
This will be a silly comment but... For some reason FPS news like this about Borderlands or Apex etc only keep reminding me I miss a new Goldeneye fix π i.e. bring on the next Bond game
I'm very glad the devs support the Switch 2 however!
@Rainz I feel the same way! I loved Harvest Moon btw growing up, but in my adult years for some reason the pacing of it / the time sink has made me steer clear (thus far). Really curious about exploring this world one day
Okay, read the news plus the old linked news, and all of it including the comment section so far all fail to mention what kind of game it is haha. Well, to be fair, I guess there's Google or an AI client of choice. Still found it funny π
At least I now know it pioneered cel-shaded visuals
"In case you haven't heard of the game before, Fear Effect is a 2000 PS1 game that pioneered cel-shaded visuals and looping FMV backgrounds."
I'm very curious to try this grip out somehow; I get tired by holding the S2 for extended amounts of time, especially lying on my back, and maybe this would help π€ A bit skeptical regarding adding weight though since I find that is the biggest issue compared to the S1 with regards to ergonomics...
Wonder if I should try this out again. Must admit I haven't touched it since its release year π I was obviously nowhere close hitting that level cap hehe, but sounds like a good change.
I always pick Sky: Children of the Light and always only see a "1". Am I really the only one on these forums that loved Journey and fell into Sky? π
And yeah, some other games too But this is recurring!
I loved playing through Hollow Knight back when, but for some reason I'm not excited about this. Maybe tastes have switched in the many years since or I've simply had my fill for awhile - maybe I will get back in the mood in a few years. I'm still oddly satisfied it seems to be great though for everyone that has waited for this β¨
Haha yeah that was weird, though I must say it's been running like a charm. Either I'm not that picky or they wanted to highlight that fun trumps millimeter performance at every turn (but for fun to be had also they surely realise there's a hygiene level you must achieve at the very minimum)
This was not in my knowledge bank at all - thanks for the review! Backlog is already piling up once more, otherwise I would've tried this out for sure! I'm still in the "loved Octopath Traveller so much, whenever will I get to play my dled OT II??" mode (sidetracked by Cyberpunk and others...)
Wow, please give me rhythm games again, all of them I jived well with Donkey Konga, even the platformer game for the bongos too, Gitaroo Man was fantastic and I'd pay crazy money for a Switch 2 version, I got 2 Dance Dance Revolution dance mats somewhere, lost in a recent move, and the list goes on. Fortnite Festival: not on my radar before this! π
This is a game I'd really like to support; new IP, fresh gameplay take, etc, that's commendable. The "Zero aesthetic personality" note is so true though that I'm not sure I'll be able to get past it
π Haha glad you're enjoying it! I never quite got into Heretic, was likely mostly playing PvP Doom II at that point or some NHL game... might try this version out though!
See above - with how it came across to me I think it warranted a lifted eyebrow π
(especially coming from a Switch 1 era where 30 locked was often the best we got π )
Also, to be frank, I've mostly seen "No buy unless 60 FPS" comments everywhere here the past year, so yeah I got a bit frustrated to now see that spread to 120 Again, that was before knowing that's not feature parity which makes it fair game to call out obviously
Ohh, had no idea it was 120 elsewhere thus not feature parity on Switch - that makes it good to include. A note mentioning that it does exist with 120 might be worth it for the sake of comparison for those having the choice to buy on multiple platforms (I do, but only care about Switch 2 nowadays anyway π). Cheers for the clarification
Great review. Only frustration: now that we finally get things running at a steady 60 FPS (awesome), do we really have to point out that the games are not 120FPS? π
"we're in the steering-assisted-Mario-Kart, giggling-and-shouting-"Ooh, ba-nana!" phase right now" - @dartmonkey this made me laugh out loud since I'm literally living through exactly both of these too, a steering assisted 3rd place and plenty of "ohh banana" yesterday evening including some vigorous chest thumping π
That settles it: I trust this is a fine game worthy of emptying my wallet somewhat "Doesn't suffer any sort of blurriness from resolution" is music to my ears since blur/smudgy resolution as per old Doom is the only red flag I'd care about (as long as frame rates are somewhat steady).
Echo Aussie comment! Much appreciate the review, but especially following up with clarifications in the comment section when speculation is abound π
Any relevance to the below comment? It doesn't mesh with your review, so wonder if this is for real or a troll comment π Especially the blurry picture complaint. (I'm not sensitive to frame rates, but I did find Doom on Switch 1 too blurry for my taste - the only game I can remember feeling that way about)
"This game is unacceptable, frame rate is all over, weird glitches like the helmets looking like a lumpy potato and an overall blurry looking image"
Good Q, my pessimistic interpretation would be that it's easier to move/delay a vague 2025 into 2026 Q1 than a fixed date like Nov 23 2025 π
Hope I'm wrong, but when it comes to Nintendo I would venture it's not yet at the highest quality standard / ready to go gold just yet and then they can't commit to a date. That, or they just keep their options open and I'm being overly speculative
Glad to support this if I was into fighting games nowadays. MK II got more than a few rounds back when though, so maybe a future discount would trigger a nostalgia purchase
I think it looks really good and atmospheric. I don't play horror games or similar since RE4 and a bit of SH2 back in the days, so a pass for me but really hope this game gets a lot of support from genre lovers!
I'm quite sure that among the 150M sold Switches globally, parts of their core audience exist. And of course, if they cared to make an effort to expand that core audience, they might wanna consider releasing somewhere with "new people" to try it out. But hey, if they don't want those people's money (yes, I would buy this π Guess they're too scared of not reaching enough new peeps for the effort.)
And I heard scientists believe the Switch is now more stable than most people, and I believe them; I see emotions running wild on here what with this update alone ;p
;p (seriously though, so far it's almost a joke on challenge level, not even losing a single heart to the first 3-4 bosses... π Love the game still though, so fun!)
I loved two wrestling games back in the days, talking Pro Wrestling on NES and another wrestling game on the SNES - so yeah, ages π
It's always been a fun genre even though I don't follow wrestling, and this review made me wanna kinda dip my toe in again. Will see, but cheers for the review
Since the early playstation days I could never get into these games' gameplay; there's just no "weight" behind the fighting. It's really quite frustrating since I wanna experience all the new lore/story stuff (and not through YT), but I can't get myself to spend the time and money on any of these games. Jealous of those of you loving this - have tons of fun with it!
Not long after I got to borrow Golf and Tennis for serious amounts of time from a neighbour, and also tried Baseball and short stints of fun with Balloon Fight and Clu Clu Land. All of which are on this list.
The year after we got our 6th game (1st new game = not pre-owned), which was Super Mario Bros, and I also got into The Last Ninja, California Games etc on the neighbour's Commodore 64, but for that first full year those games tided me over with my first strong gaming memories.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Super Mario Party Jamboree TV?
Wow, divisive so far; only 7s and 10s, not a single 8 or 9. Guess many either love it or think it's okay.

Re: Nintendo Music Update Adds 26 "Old-School" NES And Famicom Game Albums
This is nice!! My first ever console was a NES with 5 pre-owned games (all of us kids got it to share):
Mach Rider
Soccer
Excitebike
Ice Climber
Duck Hunt
Not long after I got to borrow Golf and Tennis for serious amounts of time from a neighbour, and also tried Baseball and short stints of fun with Balloon Fight and Clu Clu Land. All of which are on this list.
The year after we got our 6th game (1st new game = not pre-owned), which was Super Mario Bros, and I also got into The Last Ninja, California Games etc on the neighbour's Commodore 64, but for that first full year those games tided me over with my first strong gaming memories.
