1. Sky: Children of the Light (thank you for the memories!)
2. Cyberpunk
3. Octopath Traveller 2 (caught up late with massive time sunk into it during the Christmas break - grabbed 3rd with 47h)
I think 4th was likely Bonanza, but never really picked it up again after a brief afternoon with the expansion.
65 games in total and a more diverse spread than I remembered. Interestingly enough I play much more in Dec-Jan and Jun-Jul than the rest of the year. Huh, holidays and vacation seem to matter to me!
I find it funny though how we write that generative AI should be banned for taking the jobs of humans, but at the same time often write that EA should burn despite thousands of nice people still owing their paychecks there and the company paying for that. I know it’s easy to write “go get another job” but is that always so easy for people?
I don’t know, I have a hard time looking at the world so black and white. Though to be fair I myself have plenty of prejudices against stuff, including EA (mostly due to how ownership looks like to me, so that’s a bit narrowminded of me : o)
”Mentioning the idea of AI "taking over" makes it sounds like an inevitability, but we're not quite sure that's entirely accurate.”
I would guess he means taking over as in if others start using it, businesses not using generative AI may go out of business due to a factor of x in costs. Similar to a farmer harvesting crop by hand, but consumers not paying the price of his produce.
As someone else in here stated, in the end we will impact this with our wallets.
a) how has the stock value of such a company gone from 1.3 Billion in 2021 to 9.3 in 2025? It’s a company losing heavy money, I just don’t get it. Are people speculating crazy or what am I missing here (I’m not into the stock markets so pardon my ignorance). It must have big growth somewhere I don’t know about. (Heard something about crypto?)
b) based on the above, this article sentence made me chuckle: “So even if GameStop only manages to reach $20 billion, Cohen will still earn billions in shares.“ What’s funny about it? The word “only”. Good luck getting a heavy loss, over-valued business to more than double (or hey, x10) and he’s doing it without ANY compensation at all? This whole thing smells fishy to me 😂
Let’s just say I was ”encouraged” ;D I sold most for half retail, this was close to retail, but even then it was worth 150 dollars (I learned the day after) and now it’s sold here for between 200-450 dollars.
Again, glad to get it for ”free” on the Switch now since I already paid for the expansion plan
Owned and played through this back when (liked it a lot, GBA games even more), then during a relationship where we ”cleaned out” my storage I sold my copy for way too cheap. I remember putting out like 25-30 of my games on a marketplace and thought I charged high for this mint condition copy. 400 SEK (40 dollars) was dirt cheap I learned after I sold it. One of the games I wished I didn’t sell for a long time so quite pleased now when I have access to it again
@IronMan30 lol, you wrote exactly the words I was about to write. It took me some seconds but in the end I got it from the context too. I didn’t get LLAP from the context though… will scratch my head about that for a while! (and two or three other abbreviations mentioned, can’t be bothered looking them up Like TTFN and GLHF, good luck high five or maybe gl have fun? Haha)
And I frequent online games with plenty of chat so you’d think I have such down by now
But right! Was intrigued by game before and this locked it in for sure. Kudos for the double take review!
It says “a great idea” but I don’t fully get it. Is the perk not having to keep your power bank around outside the case? Or charging while it being packed I suppose, though (most?) flights don’t allow that anymore; have to keep the power bank under supervision while charging.
FF VII was my entry into the series, but FF IX had my fav character Vivi in it (FF VIII never did it for me) Good luck to him with his future endeavours!
I heard the term simcade being thrown around for this ;D As I understand it, leaning more towards arcade style but it’s no beetle adventure racing hehe. (I looked into comparisons with Forza motorsport and that is more sim with better physics.)
Someone on here can for sure give a better description though!
I like the NA one for portraying both the main and enemies thus clearly giving off the vibe of the game, but the Europe one is clearly scarier to me 😂 so I guess it depends on the vibe one would like.
Sounds promising! I’ve always been a bit jealous of Xbox owners with Forza - though I never played any of them 😝 - but I hear good things about this so might bite
@Kingy I was thinking the same thing about the arcade angle. Most of those are classic run-and-guns and arcade action titles.
As I see it, those games really flourished before the arcade business declined. Arcade games demanded people understand them within about 5 seconds and be mechanically driven rather than story-driven, so big investments into that kind of design made sense from a business perspective. The same design DNA still exists — there was even a new Contra released recently — but it’s mostly in AA and indie titles now. So no longer mainstream and less likely to be mass-produced or the focus of the biggest teams at large companies (apart from possibly some fighting games like Street Fighter).
I’d argue this style has declined globally rather than being a Japan-only thing and feels more like a state-of-the-market. I also don’t really see many new “Rambo”-style movies coming to cinemas anymore either.
Super discounted right now if anyone stumbles across this comment section For some reason I had it wishlisted so found it that way and might finally try it out!
@KoopaTheGamer I like your partnership idea! That’d be neat indeed. I’d like to play the new ones but the graphics turn me off badly - and I wouldn’t call myself a graphics snob.
@infostormerdotcom lol, not sure if you’re trolling but that was still funny. What are the ”manly games” of yore that you refer to?
I prefer to get the year in retrospect around New Year rather than pre-Christmas.
I kind of like this time of year overall for spending a bit extra time reflecting on life, and it’s always nice to see how my Nintendo habits have shifted too

Still to pull the trigger on this one; people stating it gets worse as you go along is my main worry - to you enjoying it, are you far into the game and still enjoying it?
@Rahmus Haha, we had code release freeze more than a week before Christmas, but that’s because people here actually go on Christmas break - my guess is that Eric ConcernedApe doesn’t
I really appreciate the transparency of his posts including bug acknowledgment and reason for EU eshop release. Even though those bugs are unfortunate, I give two thumbs up to Mr Ape 👍
FFT was one of my top PSX games back when. The game combines great strategy with a story that just sunk its teeth into me and didn’t let go. I might just dip my toes back in!

Thanks for answering my Q on “what is the value add?” etc; always appreciate learning something new and especially from a different perspective.
My assumption was that for an artist the “creating several angles of the same object” felt tedious, and didn’t contribute much to the creative end result. (As I stated, I’m no expert on the topic, and you’re very correct in that I don’t work with animation or art per se. First off, I’m no expert on the topic but when I see comments like ”CEO capitalist” I have to jump in… why would a CEO be more capitalist than anyone else? If you generalise heavily, maybe, but what title does a founder of a company get by default as a solo entrepreneur? That’s right, CEO, but most of those do that for their passion in their field, where they believe they can make a positive impact on the world. And if that impact is realised, that person might after a while have dozens, hundreds or thousands of people within that company. Does that suddenly make that person bad, because of having had success with their passion?
As for AI, seeing how fierce competition can be for survival, it’d be risky to not use any AI for almost any company. I fully agree with the post above about the soul of a creation, and I too hope we can judge art for art, but I also believe that the art of creating something great can come from different types of inspiration and doesn’t necessarily have to be from something hand drawn for example.
In my experience, AI has tons of uses, some of which are less benign and some which have been used for years before under the guise of machine learning and automation. Generating images is another thing, but what about generating 100 versions of a pic you made holding something at different angles? Is it that far off from when animation studios went digital? What would be the value add of doing that manual labour yourself?
Also, the CTO at our company is talking a lot about how AI is enabling even MORE creativity, since the manual grunt work can be kept at bay. It’s not great for junior coders, agree, but for senior coders they are freed up for greater stuff. So pros and cons?
I would believe that companies that won’t use ANY AI throughout their development process will be at a deep competitive disadvantage a few years down the line, if not already today.
So… this has likely been tread over ad nauseam elsewhere, but which is the best Persona game of all according to you lovely people on here (and would that be fine to start with)? How does 3 Reload rank, does it come close?
Interesting, you called Legacy for ”the first great horror game” on Switch (score 8), so looking forward to this being reviewed.
Haven’t tried the series myself, but read that the 2018 version was a bit rough around the edges in the graphics department so hope this will address this.
Well, if it’s only on the cover that’d be a non-issue but I can see why people are wondering. Let’s see if anything is changed within the game, but that would of course have required much more effort.
Right now playing through Octopath Traveller 2 after having been stuck in my backlog for too long. Wow, it sucked me in fast just like the first game and I’m enjoying it a lot. I really love this series.
Not sure everyone can deduce this from the article, but if you do own the Switch 1 version but not anniversary that’s the cheapest upgrade path.
However, when I tried to buy anniversary yesterday it was still 19.99 Euro or such - I have another currency - on my Switch 2! (There was a link to the anniversary + Switch 2 upgrade from the game’s start up screen)
To get the cheaper price, I had to boot up the game on my Switch 1 instead, where the link took me to the cheaper 9.99. After that, the Switch 2 upgrade was a free download on my Switch 2. Maybe helpful for someone else.
(I guess a neutral ”Of note:” part beside the joys and cons could be something for the future, or a fact box that includes an estimated runtime. To be fair, the phrase ”Be aware” is likely an effort to make the con more neutral, but still funny )
