Won’t dare to get my hopes up too much, but this could be such a great game for me if it delivers on most of its promises 🙈 Looks and sounds awesome and right up my alley 😁
As very many above already mentioned, please tell these people to stop using the term “impossible” when it already has been achieved earlier. Just use impressive or on a satisfactory level or similar… I’m glad for this and all other ports that show up respectfully on Switch 2, but using the term impossible kinda justifies ports to do worse and I think most would agree with me that we don’t want anyone to actively support lowering the bar.
Nice! Without realising this was being released now I recently started Octopath Traveler 2 and am massively enjoying it. Looking forward to this afterwards
Much better than I feared. This review reads like a 10/10 to me, so the end score surprised me when I first came to it. But looking through other reviews and hearing Alex in the video review definitely makes me see why it’s rather an 8 or 9 worthy game.
Personally, I can’t stand motorcycles thrown in where I don’t think they fit, equally so here as in Zelda Breath of the Wild. At least in Zelda it was a late DLC unlock and not part of the main game So desert biking is a big turnoff for me, but I wouldn’t let it bother my enjoyment of the rest of the game when it looks and plays as good as it sounds
Heh, had this for years but still wrapped in plastic. Too many great backlog games to ever get to this one I fear, but keep the compatibility updates coming!
Reread this again now after following a link. Even nicer than I remembered! Funny how he dreamt of Miyamoto long after leaving, and how he takes it for granted that students sleep during class at uni ( in Japan they do but he says it so off the cuff I guess he sees it as the natural order of things )
@Jeronan thx for info, I loved Cyberpunk on Switch all the same in the end - likely because I hadn’t experienced it elsewhere - so hopefully I’ll feel the same about this one
Same on the lighting, but main worry for me is the ”NPC counts have been reduced in highly populated areas”; I like when games feel ”alive” so hopefully it’s not too sparse!
@Jhena you and me both Not sure my cup of tea, but looks intriguing. I wonder how many ”Mega Man” games there are in total in the wild haha. I basically played Mega Man 1-3 plus Mega Man X hehe
@Alpha008 The Golden Joystick Awards are mainly voted on by the public - online voting early November I think, with only a few select chosen by critics. (Critics' Choice, Breakthrough Award, Hall of Fame, and Streamers' Choice)
A bit too floaty and casual feel for me - though still clearly has some depth/skill. I’m more a MK 8, MK DS, Wipeout and Sega Rally 2 kinda guy when it comes to racing. I can totally see why many would like this however, so enjoy
Lol, glad to be of service 😁😂 (There are a few games that I personally wouldn’t put on it, particularly some between nr 30-50. But overall it made a bit sense to me too )
I’m interested in this for sure! Will pick up when Switch 2 version arrives. I never really tried Hitman apart from a cloud version very briefly, but have fond memories from an old Splinter Cell and I always liked to sneak around in games…
I couldn't help myself. Obviously this NL/IGN list is opinionated, as it should be, but it made me curious as to how a more statistical approach would end up.
So for those interested, below is a collated "Top 50 Nintendo Games of All Time”, based on a modeled aggregation of the big sources (top 1-25 modeled more carefully than 26-50). Don't shoot me Personally, I'd not put Ocarina or Majora's Mask that high, but to each their own eh.
1. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (N64)
2. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (Switch / Wii U)
3. Super Mario World (SNES)

48. Pokémon HeartGold & SoulSilver (DS)
49. The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening (or Mother 3 — GBA, Japan-only)
50. Mario Kart 64 (N64)
Personally I just adore Mario World including its art direction; the more connected overworld map and its secrets made it feel like a real adventure. But, I played it while it was that time period so not sure how I’d judge it otherwise. As it stands, it’s in my top 5 of all time!
Thanks for a nice list, some good trips down memory lane for one thing. I don’t think I saw Conker’s Bad Fur Day on there though hmm
Only big disappointment was BoTW not beating ToTK, and reading that Nintendolife staff had to bow down to IGN on that one. BoTW was so momentously impactful. Goes to show I’m frequenting the better site of the two
Looks good but I find the price steep, and shelf space is precious I guess the price might be palatable to those who are the target demographic however.
Haha those are awesome. That Independece Day drawing cracked me up, and a bunch are super nice. Glad to see some of this salvaged, and that at least a few creators got theirs back. Gotta agree that Link drawing is terrific that was received in return.
Totally forgot about this game, I trust Chucklefish to deliver something good here but can’t say I was waiting on it either 😆 Looking forward to see how it ends up in the end!
I’m way too backlogged for this, but always glanced in Atelier’s direction just never quite got to play any. Let’s see if this will be the one eventually
Here, here. A remake would indeed be excellent, I’d throw money at it even with Switch 2 tax included.
And I also loved that version of Mario Golf, even if I enjoyed the Game boy color one even more (loved those RPG elements)! <3 I shed a small tear each time a Mario Golf or Tennis is released without those features haha.
Cool that Sakurai gave it so much credit. I wonder if he really dig it or did that since he was presenting the award as such. Either way, now officially on my radar!
