Re: Video: This Might Not Be The Safest Place To Play Your Nintendo Switch

meppi64

Goes to show just how much Breath of the Wild has already impacted my 40 year old self.
The moment the first 4 notes sounded, a whole rush of emotions washed over me like a wave in the same way that this happens with the original Zelda, ALTTP or Majora's Mask do.
Didn't even think this was possible anymore after the thousands of games I played over the years and how I'd gotten used to just about everything. At least I thought.

Can't wait for Friday.

@xxAcesHighxx Nice! I just sent him a tweet.

Ended up playing Gonner till 1am last night, so that's a very good sign.
So far it's not grabbing me as hard as Nuclear Throne did, but then again I'm a sucker for overhead shooters, not to mention vertical scrolling ones.
Only was able to get to stage 2 so far, so it's still early days.
Can't wait to get back home from work tonight and play some more.
So glad Enter the Gungeon is making it over. I'm hoping we see a physical release as well as I'd buy it in a heartbeat along with a digital release for convenience.
Really liked what I played of Risk of Rain. Just got the LRG Vita release last week as well in fact. Need to put more time into it though.

@xxAcesHighxx
Well you just sold the game to me.
I was wondering what the game actually was like as it's still not 100% clear for me.
Linking it up to Nuclear Throne which was one of the biggest surprises of the year for me along with Enter the Gungeon last year means that I'll have to check out Gonner now.
Really hope Nuclear Throne gets a Switch release one day as well.
Love it on the Vita, but I'm ready to move on tbh.

Re: Namco Museum Is Coming To Nintendo Switch This Summer

That's a pretty meagre collection. let's hope it's just Vol.1 and they do a bunch more.

I want Xevious, Super Xevious, Xevious: Fardraut Saga, Xevious Arrangement and Xevious Resurrection would be nice as well.
Not to mentions Galaxian, Gaplus and Assault just for starters.

Re: Review: Graceful Explosion Machine (Switch eShop)

Ooh, I was looking forward to this one since the indie Direct, but I had no idea it would score this highly!
Gonna grab it right away along with ASO II.
I'm actually having a bit of trouble keeping up with all these games even though Switch supposedly only has Zelda to play and nothing else according to the haters.
And in a couple of weeks we'll have Puyo Puyo Tetris and Mario Kart.
I wonder when we'll get a date for Enter the Gungeon as that's another brilliant release waiting in the wings.

Re: "No Widespread Technical Problems" With Switch Joy-Cons, Claims Nintendo

meppi64

I love my Switch and it's quickly becoming my favourite current gen system even though I have hundreds of games for both my PS4 and Vita, yet only a few for the Switch right now.
But I do have the disconnect problem, at least with my left Joycon.
The right one never seems to act up, but when I try to play games in docked mode on the couch (not even 3 meters away from the system), the left one loses synch constantly.
So much so that I'm not able to play anymore with this setup.
Luckily I bought a pro controller at launch, which is simply perfect.
But there certainly is an issue with some joy cons. That much is for sure.

Re: HAMSTER Corporation Promises Improvements in Nintendo Switch ACA Neo Geo Titles

@ThomasBW84
Yeah, something is certainly up. :-/
None of my other systems do this. Although I do remember the PS4 having issues when it launched where it didn't correctly set RGB full range when the system was set to Automatic. Only when you set it to full range only did it work. That seems fixed now though.
Just checked again with my Switch and when I set the system to Full Range I get the following:
TV in auto or full range = washed out colours.
TV in normal/limited = certainly darker and crisper image but possible crunched blacks.

When I put the Switch in Normal mode:
TV in normal/limited or auto mode = Beautiful sharp picture with crisp colours
TV in full range = washed out picture

So it looks my Switch doesn't output a full range RGB image at all.
I'm keeping it in normal range now and my TV in auto mode which seems fine, but I'm hoping for a fix in the future to get and even better picture.

Oh and yes, even in this setting, the Hamster games still look desaturated compared to a normal NeoGeo.

Re: HAMSTER Corporation Promises Improvements in Nintendo Switch ACA Neo Geo Titles

@manu0 I've been testing it out this evening and it certainly doesn't work correctly on my end.
Even when using the exact same settings that I use for my PS4,PS3,WiiU and 360, only the Switch looks washed out.
Yet when I manually put the system on limited and keep the tv on either Auto or limited, everything shows up correctly.
When the Switch is set to full and the TV to auto or full, the screen is washed out. Very strange.
It's the final top of the line Panasonic Plasma, so it certainly has all the bells and whistles needed.

Re: Review: NAM-1975 (Wii Virtual Console / Neo Geo)

meppi64

I'll be grabbing it the moment it goes live at midnight, just like the 5 NeoGeo games at launch!
I'm just hoping that hamster will patch them so that the colours don't look so washed out.

edit Hmm, just figured out that the games themselves are fine.
It seems to be the RGB Full Range setting that's messed up on the system itself and thus the screen looks washed out.
When setting it to limited range, everything is a colourful and crisp as it should be.

@OorWullie
You're welcome.

There has been a problem with our file hosting site last year, so if any magazine that you're trying to download is offline or corrupted, just let me know on our forums and I'll re-up them the same day if possible.
I'm also working on redoing all the old scans I've done over the past 8 years so that they are picture perfect with exact colour calibrations and everything. I've started doing this at the beginning of this year, so the magazines you'll find on the 2016 new page are the best ones so far. All the older ones will be redone if time permits. A single 100 page issue takes close to 50 hours to complete, from scanning to restoring and getting everything just right. If you'd like to see some examples of the work that goes into certain pages, take a look at this special: http://www.outofprintarchive.com/articles/features/out-of-print/the_restoration_process.html
The last 5 examples are clickable and are animated gifs, comparing the untouched scans compared to the finished ones.
