Time sure flies - Namco Museum is now just days away from release on Nintendo Switch, arriving on 28th July all around the world. To celebrate this, Bandai Namco has release a rather neat new trailer for the Japanese market that showcases what the game collection will have to offer.
For those eager to build up hype for the release, it certainly does the job.
As a reminder there are 11 games included, while on the Switch there'll be features like online leaderboards and the option to hold the console vertically for an arcade cabinet feel. The game list is below.
- PAC-MAN VS.
- PAC-MAN
- Dig Dug
- Galaga
- Galaga ‘88
- The Tower of Druaga
- Rolling Thunder
- Rolling Thunder 2
- SkyKid
- Splatterhouse
- Tank Force
Are you excited about this one on the Switch eShop? It'll cost $29.99USD / £29.99 when it arrives on 28th July.

I'm excited. Played Namco Museum DS a lot, so another portable collection of Namco classics is welcome to me.
Yay can't wait
Can't resist, it includes one of my all time favourite Namco games, "SkyKid"!
And I too am sad with the lack of a proper physical retail edition.
£23 from the US eShop isn't a bad price
No Ms. Pac-man is a big omission.
I do want it. It'll be nice to have those retro gems on the go, however can't help but feel 30 pounds is quite steep when there are other Namco collections on other consoles significantly cheaper. It should have been around the 20 pound mark. I may get it if i feel rich on pay day and if not, i'll wait for a sale or something
Of the games there I think I've only played 4 of them. Pacman, Galaga, Dig Dug and Splatterhouse. Not enough nostalgia for me to fork out 30 quid on it.
I can't wait for Friday! I hope this is the first of many Namco compilations. crosses fingers, arms, toes, legs...falls over. I'll get 30 quids worth of fun out of this no problem. You can't just value stuff on fps, teraflops and poly count, that's a tad...grey.
Really though?
They go four years without releasing Pac-Man VS. on the Wii U, but they release it close to launch on Switch?
How will it even work without a separate screen?
@Pod It requires two Switch systems, to reproduce the GameCube / GBA setup. I'll check whether both systems need a full copy of the game, but I suspect that'll be the case.
A tenner was going to be my biting point.
Then I scrolled down.
I'm not that excited.
The Game seems far to expensive for me.
A couple of Years ago i got the Namco Museum Collection on PSP for 5€ and it contains much more Content (20 Games!) compared to the Switch Version.
If i wanna play some Namco Classics on the go im covered.
I'd pay ten bucks tops for this. So few games it's borderline offensive. Especially when companies like SEGA released compilations with 40 some games. And even NAMCO themselves have released larger collections in the past. Put in something different too, like Soul Blade and maybe I'd bite
It's a shame there isn't any synergy with 3DS consoles like Monster Hunter XX for Pac-man Vs.
As with a few games on Switch it seems to be about £10 more than you'd expect, at a lower price I'd consider it
Not to add to the negativity, but those borders are huge! The playing screen could fit on a cellphone. Was hoping the Switch could be rotated with Joycon-R being the base...now that would have been rad.
I'm sorry but this seems too steep a price for 11 old arcade games. They need between 20 & 30 to make that price appalling.
No mappy, no buy.
No Bosconian or Rally X? Not worth the $ to me for Pacman and Galaga.
@ThomasBW84
Alright, thanks for the update. I'm only upset because I've been looking forward to playing this game again.
@AcridSkull Yup! Looks like another Puyo Tetris case where a remarkably ungenerous $/£ conversion rate has been used, gah. And like Puyo Tetris, I too will grab it from the US store instead!
I do want this but agree £30 is too expensive. I had hoped this would be around the £20 mark. not going to purchase unless it comes down in price
The price to content ratio looks horrible.
Definitely getting it, maybe not right away. Mostly for Rolling Thunder 2, 1, Galaga '88, and Splatterhouse.
@FragRed Oh, these arcade games are WAY older than 11 years!
I absolutely love the list of games! I thought there was going to be a physical release? Dang!
I'm really surprised it is not getting physical release even in Japan. I would have expected a game of that price to.
$30 is too steep imo and quite a few missing classics! Pac man championship edition +?
Where's Ms Pac Man? Pac-Land?
Where's Xevious? Rally X? Pac-Mania? Mappy? Bosconian?? And....no retail copy?? Smh
@joey302
I'll second that it's weird that they didn't include Xevious in this compilation. They have put it into almost every other one. I'll also agree with the others that state that the price to content ratio is awful.
Some of those games are still very playable today, especially Pacman, Digdug, and Skykid; but I can't help but feel this is overpriced. I feel like maybe $20 would be a fair price.
Why?
I have this game on GBA and GC. And then I have several other gaming compilations from like Midway and other folks. Of course I'm thankful for the support for the switch but they really need to come out with some new stuff I think that would be lots of fun if they would come up with something new.
@fox_mattcloud Most of the games you can get on the other consoles. The exceptions are Pac-Man Vs. which is only available on Gamecube, DS and now the Nintendo Switch and Splatterhouse which virtually has had no additional console releases (except for a censored version of the game on Wii VC).
I wouldn't be surprised if people pick it up simply for Vs.
Too expensive for a digital only title. I would have happily paid more for a retail release, however. I intend to share my games with my younger brother who bought a Switch of his own, so I don't intend to buy many digital only games (in fact, I'm yet to buy any).
@AirElephant I guess the only thing we can do is support the release in hopes of a volume 2!!
No Xevious, no Sale.
Certainly not at this price and it being digital only.
@AcridSkull correction. IS a bad (high) price.
$30? Yikes... I do like what's on tap, though I'd expect a few more classics. I guess the big draw here is Pac-Man Vs, which can be very fun between Switch players. I know someone that can get it for me at a discount, so maybe I'll take the plunge, or try to wait for a discount. I do love me some Pac-Man though. Patience Melo, patience...
My only real reason would be get to get a Switch version of Pac-Man Vs. As it's easier to kick of a game than needing to cart around a Cube and multiple GBAs.
@MegaTen: Thank you, that is good news! Vertical play it is!
Also interesting from that press release: "*Check local prices with retailers". So maybe physical copies are in the works?!? Although I am really mad at Amazon Prime for their false guarantees regarding release date delivery of my Splatoon 2 pre-order, a $24 price tag here would seem about right.
I'll get it once I get a Switch....in 2 years.
$30 seems a bit steep to me for a digital-only release
@Mando44646 could be worse it's £30 here. To show why that's as bad, Minecraft was £20/$30.
The cost of this is absolutely INSANE.
Whoever came up with it should be put on the sex offenders register
Digital only? Wha..?
Meh, pricing could be worse though a physical release would be nice.
Seems expensive for this just being digital. Probably still buy it at some point though.
@bluedogrulez Dear Nintendo, please release a Nintendo Arcade Classics with vertical mode support.
@drich255: I'd pay full retail for a compilation containing the arcade versions of Punch-Out!! and Super Punch Out!! . . . Someday . . . .
I'm in, price is irrelevant.
@Danrenfroe2016
If you haven't learned by now, these companies only release the same games over and over and over and over. There are thousands of choices but you only get the games you've always gotten and nothing more - ever. And when I say ever I mean never ever fergetaboutit. It's like Classic rock on the radio. You'd think Led Zeppelin only made 4 good songs. Jimi Hendrix? He only had 2 good songs right?
Should be $15 or maybe $20, max. I'll look for Galaga '88 and Skykid elsewhere.
@Priceless_Spork lol! It's true... I guess they must sell enough copies to make the quick down and dirty port profitable.
The price only comes down to about 2-3 dollars per game. That's less than the cost of a VC title. Also some of the games being offered are NOT available on other collections.
